This design is inspired by a Scottish folk tale of a Selkie, the Scottish equivalent of the mermaid - a mythological creature that can either take the form of a beautiful woman or a seal. The Selkie can shed her seal skin in order to transform herself into a beautiful young woman or revert back to the sea by throwing her seal skin over the shoulders. Every print is numbered, signed and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. This is a limited edition of 50 prints. The design is drawn by hand straight onto the lino block, then carefully carved out of it, inked with a roller before finally being printed onto a selected luxury Japanese paper by hand. Please beware that all prints are individually hand printed and will therefore have each minor variations and imperfections - this is part of the magic of lino printing!
