Stainless steel sculpture with marble base. Liechennay's works are inspired by nature and life, simply put, the forms and shapes he is surrounded by. He creates highly aesthetic pieces embodying artistic balance and beauty that transmit a sense of tranquility and eternity, a dialogue with nature. The artist masterfully transforms his principal material of choice, cold and rigid steel into an organic and fluid material. Each sculpture, often made of a combination of stainless steel, wood and copper, is an individually welded and shaped unique piece. He bends, shapes and joins together thousands of stainless steel pieces one by one in order to compose the final sculpture.

Modernist magnificence A new radical era of design evolved during the turn of the century which moved away from the excessive ornamental tradition which had dominated decor trends for decades to a streamlined, accessible functional design for a more minimalist aesthetic. The original designs of this modernist movement, regarded by some as non-conformist and even viewed by other contemporaries as audacious and scandalous, gradually gained wider acceptance and captivated the mainstream market when post war production got moving. Marcel Breuer, the Bauhaus furniture designer and architect, began working with lightweight tubular steel in 1925, which together with flexible

'Canto Aperto' - Francesco Somaini Italy, 1955 Helene Fielder 'Double Key Head' -- Sorel Etrog Rumi Galleries - 1stDibs Abstraction Creation For our ancient primitives, it was possibly through the absence of any formal education and intellectual training, that when they attempted to create artistic depictions of their idols of worship, they tended to be pure abstract interpretations with only a simplistic resemblance to reality. The Neolithic and Bronze Age Cycladic figures expressed a combination of omissions, distortions and exaggerations that created a tension between the abstract and the real, that resulted in

For Valérie Hadida, the deep, protective partnerships fostered between women provide the foundation for her practice. The French artist casts bronze sculptures that are poetic and nuanced, depicting female figures wearing contemplative and composed expressions. “Coming from a large family where women reign supreme and play a key role, they have established a bond of serenity, trust, and complicity with me,” she tells Colossal. “The heroines of my works are always women because I am deeply convinced that it is they who will change and save the world.” Hadida begins with a sketch before building the figures that eventually are covered with green patina.
