Hello everyone, For my first inspiration for this month of June, I offer you a layout including this pretty window model which frames a photo of my granddaughter taken in profile. "Wonderful" The chipboards used: - "Wonderful" Mini Word Set 3 - "joy" Christmas Mini Word Set 2 - Window Shutter Set 2 - Mollie's Butterfly Set - Ginny's Flourish Set - Heart Clumps After choosing my layout, I decided to embellish the majority of the chipboards in white. To start, I apply a layer of white gesso. Then I use a heavy body acrylic paint of snow-white color. I wanted to achieve a covering effect. I use two "Ginny's Flourish" chipboards to give volume to my embellishment cluster. For the butterflies I chose to cover them with Lindy's Gang embossing powder in the color "Madonna Robe Blue Gold. I often add to my projects these "Heater Clumps". They are light and so adorable. To create a distinctive look, I chose to use two mini-words in different fonts. I hope this presentation of these beautiful chipboards will inspire you in your next creations. Take care of yourself! Marie
Hi, Sheila here-the "other" crafting sister from Two Crafting Sisters and before we get started I'd just like to say thank you for asking Maura and I to do a guest post. We are both honored. I like to do two things when crafting---1. Make mini books and 2. Use items already in my stash. This little expanding folder mini book does just that. It is easy to make from scratch and you most likely already have everything that you need. I started with little #1 coin envelopes that measure 3 1/2" x 2 1/4". A simple search on Google or Amazon will give you lots of choices-you can also find these at your local office supply type store or in a pinch, simply cut down an envelope to size and seal the cut side to form the pocket. You will also need heavy chipboard or cardboard pieces to make the box. Cut two pieces that measure 3 3/4" x 2 1/2", two pieces that measure 3/4" x 2 1/2" and one piece that measures 1 3/4" x 2 1/2". Also cut your pieces of patterned papers in these same sizes as well as one long piece that measures 2 1/2" x 12" (you will trim off the excess once your pieces are adhered down.) Adhere the patterned paper to the chipboard pieces. If you want to distress the edges or ink them, now is the time to do that. Then adhere these pieces to the long patterned piece as shown in the photo leaving about a 1/16" gap between pieces. You'll see why next. Now, gently bend the box into shape. You can also distress the front side of your box now if desired. I used a red Distress Ink to cover the chipboard sides and also used a bit of sandpaper around the box edges. Gather your coin envelopes. Cut inserts out of cardstock that measure 3 5/8" x 2". Apply adhesive down the center of the back of the envelopes and adhere them one to another to form a stack. By only adhering down the center, you will get this accordion effect. Now with the last envelope, apply adhesive on the entire back of the envelope and adhere the stack to the back panel of the book (and in this photo you can also see the magnets I used to close my book. Now is the time to add those if you so choose so that the one will be hidden from view. However, you could also close these with Velcro dots or a ribbon. Your choice.) Also apply adhesive to the entire back of the front envelope. When you stick it down to the cover, run your finger along the envelope edges to make sure it is adhered. Here is the inside of the mini book. I punched out circles, folded them in half and stapled them on the inserts for pull tabs. Once I got started on these, I couldn't stop! This little mini book used envelopes that were even smaller at 2 3/4" x 1 3/4". I covered them with dictionary papers before adhering them together and I made tiny little library cards for the insides. And on this one I cut the flap to make a tag and had it oriented differently. The possibilities are endless. Enjoy! Patterned papers-Tim Holtz and Cosmo Cricket Blog-http://www.twocraftingsisters.blogspot.com/

The other day I over heard this great idea to buy used board books and turn them into mini albums or scrapbooks. So I took a trip to our local DI and found these children's board books in great condition (no chewed up edges) for $0.25 a book. WOW! Why had I not done this before?! SO much cheaper then the expensive stuff at the scrapbook store. And look at the finished project...you wouldn't even know that there are dinosaurs under there!! You will want to take the binding off with a very sharp knife. This is a great way to use up a lot of those scraps of paper that were to cute to throw away but to small for a larger page. I like to use craft bond rather then mod podge for these just for the less wrinkling and you don't have to wait for them to dry. I then take my Crop-A-Dile and add jumbo eyelets, thread ribbon through all the holes to hold the album together and look..... a very cute and inexpensive way to reuse something old or just create something new. Now I just have to get pictures developed, add them to these and make it a real album!

Do you ever scrap about yourself? Are you ever even in the pictures? or are you the one who's always behind the camera? Often times, scrapbookers get so involved in documenting the lives of our kids, and our families, that we forget that someone, someday, might want to know who WE were in 2013! I might even want to look back and see who I was in 2013 :) So, check this out... It's all about you (or your daughter, or friend, or anyone!) -- each page is for a photo and journaling about something that starts with that letter of the alphabet that makes you who you are. What do you like? What do you do? Favorites? Friends names? Family names? For example, my album goes like this: A -- Artsy Albums :) B -- Beach C -- Chocolate D -- Dining out E -- Evening walks F -- Family G -- Georgia etc. 14 6x8 scrapbook pages + 12 6x8 pockets, each one corresponds to a letter of the alphabet for a total of 26 pages) Your kit will even come with some idea prompts to get your A-Z creative juices flowing! Good morning, Crafters! I have a sweet, summertime tutorial for you today! If you are trapped inside with the air conditioning roaring, then it's the perfect time to whip up this little cutie! My monthly mini showcases the Authentique Summertime Collection! This is the perfect collection for these hot, humid, end-of-summer days! This summer collection comes with six different sheets and 12 patterns, However, the collection has TWO sheets of cut-aparts, Summertime Five and Summertime Six. If you purchase the paper pad, you get four of each pattern. That is plenty of paper to make this mini album! This mini is 5" tall and 3 1/2" wide (similar to the Meadow Mini Album, shared HERE). There are three pages, with lots of fold-outs and flaps, plus TWO waterfall sections! Let's get started on the tutorial. Cut two pieces of medium weight chipboard to 5" x 3 1/2". Cut one piece of chipboard to 5" x 1". Trim dark blue cardstock to 7" x 10 1/4" and attach the chipboard pieces to the cardstock as shown above. Make sure to maintain a 1/8" gap between the spine piece and the cover pieces of chipboard. Trim the cardstock corners at an angle and attach double-sided adhesive to the tabs. Wrap the chipboard as shown. Gently fold the covers while scoring in the 1/8" gutter (or channel) between the spine and the covers. Trim decorative paper to fit over the center spine section. Do this BEFORE adding your hinge mechanism. DO NOT add paper to your inside covers until AFTER you add your hinge mechanism. Create a hinge mechanism from dark blue cardstock. Cut the cardstock to 4 1/4" x 4 1/2". (The 4 1/4" measurement is the height of the hinge.) Score on the longer side at: 1", 1 1/8", 1 3/8", 1 5/8", 2", 2 1/4", 2 1/2", 2 7/8", 3 1/8", 3 3/8", 3 1/2". This will make three hinges that are 1/4" all with a 3/8" space between hinges. Attach the hinge to the spine of the book. Line up the scored 1/8" "gutters" on your hinge to the gutters on your album. Gently burnish and fold all your score lines. Trim decorative paper to add to the inside of your covers. Trim three pieces of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and add one piece to each hinge. Glue these "base pages" to the left side of each hinge. (Don't worry. Your decorative papers will cover the other side of the hinge.) Create a waterfall section for the front cover. Trim the dark blue cardstock to 4" x 3 1/8". Score each piece at 1/4" from the top edge. Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges. Cut four waterfall pages. Attach the first to the top edge of the dotted paper by the 1/4" tab. Add each waterfall page just under the previous page. Add magnets to keep the waterfall closed. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the right edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the first base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the right edge of the first base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the left flap, then the right flap to finish the first base page. Turn the page and work on the BACK of the first base page. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 5/8" x 3 1/8" and score on the bottom at 1/4" from the edge. Round the top corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the bottom edge of the BACK of the first base page. Add a pocket to the bottom of the second base page. Cut dark blue cardstock to 2 3/4" x 3 7/8" and score on three sides at 1/4" from the edges. Fold on the score lines and attach the pocket to the page as shown. Flip the second base page over and work on the BACK. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 5 1/2" and score on the long side at 2" and 5 1/4" from the left edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the second base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the right edge of the second base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the right flap, then the accordion fold the left flap to finish the second base page Add a pocket to the bottom of the THIRD base page. Cut dark blue cardstock to 2 3/4" x 3 7/8" and score on three sides at 1/4" from the edges. Fold on the score lines and attach the pocket to the page as shown. Flop the page and work on the BACK of the last page. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the right edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the third base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the flap to the right edge of the first base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the left flap to finish the last base page. Create a waterfall section for the inside back cover. Trim the dark blue cardstock to 4" x 3 1/8". Score each piece at 1/4" from the top edge. Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges. Cut four waterfall pages. Attach the first to the top edge of the dotted paper by the 1/4" tab. Add each waterfall page just under the previous. Add magnets to keep the waterfall closed. Now your mini book is ready to decorate! I trimmed a piece of white, adhesive-back canvas to cover the spine of my book. Then, I added the yellow and white dotted paper to the front and back covers. I kept the cover simple by adding a word grid sticker and a bit of pretty ribbon. (The sticker is VERY OLD and I have no idea where it's from!) I double-matted the sticker and added it to a bit of scrap chipboard before gluing it to the cover. I found the cute crab button in my stash and thought he would like to end his days decorating the bow! I used a banner die to cut out the spine decor. I used a Tim Holtz brad to dangle some charms from the spine. (I have a bin of charms and a bin of beads, most of which have been with me since the early 1990's! I add to them from time to time, so I really don't remember where these particular items came from!) I added the fun Summertime papers to the inside sections of my book, and then just added a few stickers and other bits and bobs to decorate each page. The Summertime cut-aparts are the perfect size for my pages... and to fit into the pockets! I have no idea how long I've had some of these stickers! I almost never reach for stickers, but I am happy I still had these in my stash as they worked perfectly for this little book! I found clear stickers, and 3-D sticker, and word art...just a treasure trove! With TWO waterfall features, there is a lot of space for photos and journaling! If you want to see each page, watch my little walk-through video below! I hope you are inspired to beat the heat and make a little end-of-summer mini! Thanks for joining me today!
