Good morning, Crafters! I have a sweet, summertime tutorial for you today! If you are trapped inside with the air conditioning roaring, then it's the perfect time to whip up this little cutie! My monthly mini showcases the Authentique Summertime Collection! This is the perfect collection for these hot, humid, end-of-summer days! This summer collection comes with six different sheets and 12 patterns, However, the collection has TWO sheets of cut-aparts, Summertime Five and Summertime Six. If you purchase the paper pad, you get four of each pattern. That is plenty of paper to make this mini album! This mini is 5" tall and 3 1/2" wide (similar to the Meadow Mini Album, shared HERE). There are three pages, with lots of fold-outs and flaps, plus TWO waterfall sections! Let's get started on the tutorial. Cut two pieces of medium weight chipboard to 5" x 3 1/2". Cut one piece of chipboard to 5" x 1". Trim dark blue cardstock to 7" x 10 1/4" and attach the chipboard pieces to the cardstock as shown above. Make sure to maintain a 1/8" gap between the spine piece and the cover pieces of chipboard. Trim the cardstock corners at an angle and attach double-sided adhesive to the tabs. Wrap the chipboard as shown. Gently fold the covers while scoring in the 1/8" gutter (or channel) between the spine and the covers. Trim decorative paper to fit over the center spine section. Do this BEFORE adding your hinge mechanism. DO NOT add paper to your inside covers until AFTER you add your hinge mechanism. Create a hinge mechanism from dark blue cardstock. Cut the cardstock to 4 1/4" x 4 1/2". (The 4 1/4" measurement is the height of the hinge.) Score on the longer side at: 1", 1 1/8", 1 3/8", 1 5/8", 2", 2 1/4", 2 1/2", 2 7/8", 3 1/8", 3 3/8", 3 1/2". This will make three hinges that are 1/4" all with a 3/8" space between hinges. Attach the hinge to the spine of the book. Line up the scored 1/8" "gutters" on your hinge to the gutters on your album. Gently burnish and fold all your score lines. Trim decorative paper to add to the inside of your covers. Trim three pieces of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and add one piece to each hinge. Glue these "base pages" to the left side of each hinge. (Don't worry. Your decorative papers will cover the other side of the hinge.) Create a waterfall section for the front cover. Trim the dark blue cardstock to 4" x 3 1/8". Score each piece at 1/4" from the top edge. Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges. Cut four waterfall pages. Attach the first to the top edge of the dotted paper by the 1/4" tab. Add each waterfall page just under the previous page. Add magnets to keep the waterfall closed. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the right edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the first base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the right edge of the first base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the left flap, then the right flap to finish the first base page. Turn the page and work on the BACK of the first base page. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 5/8" x 3 1/8" and score on the bottom at 1/4" from the edge. Round the top corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the bottom edge of the BACK of the first base page. Add a pocket to the bottom of the second base page. Cut dark blue cardstock to 2 3/4" x 3 7/8" and score on three sides at 1/4" from the edges. Fold on the score lines and attach the pocket to the page as shown. Flip the second base page over and work on the BACK. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 5 1/2" and score on the long side at 2" and 5 1/4" from the left edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the second base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the right edge of the second base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the right flap, then the accordion fold the left flap to finish the second base page Add a pocket to the bottom of the THIRD base page. Cut dark blue cardstock to 2 3/4" x 3 7/8" and score on three sides at 1/4" from the edges. Fold on the score lines and attach the pocket to the page as shown. Flop the page and work on the BACK of the last page. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the right edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the third base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the flap to the right edge of the first base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the left flap to finish the last base page. Create a waterfall section for the inside back cover. Trim the dark blue cardstock to 4" x 3 1/8". Score each piece at 1/4" from the top edge. Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges. Cut four waterfall pages. Attach the first to the top edge of the dotted paper by the 1/4" tab. Add each waterfall page just under the previous. Add magnets to keep the waterfall closed. Now your mini book is ready to decorate! I trimmed a piece of white, adhesive-back canvas to cover the spine of my book. Then, I added the yellow and white dotted paper to the front and back covers. I kept the cover simple by adding a word grid sticker and a bit of pretty ribbon. (The sticker is VERY OLD and I have no idea where it's from!) I double-matted the sticker and added it to a bit of scrap chipboard before gluing it to the cover. I found the cute crab button in my stash and thought he would like to end his days decorating the bow! I used a banner die to cut out the spine decor. I used a Tim Holtz brad to dangle some charms from the spine. (I have a bin of charms and a bin of beads, most of which have been with me since the early 1990's! I add to them from time to time, so I really don't remember where these particular items came from!) I added the fun Summertime papers to the inside sections of my book, and then just added a few stickers and other bits and bobs to decorate each page. The Summertime cut-aparts are the perfect size for my pages... and to fit into the pockets! I have no idea how long I've had some of these stickers! I almost never reach for stickers, but I am happy I still had these in my stash as they worked perfectly for this little book! I found clear stickers, and 3-D sticker, and word art...just a treasure trove! With TWO waterfall features, there is a lot of space for photos and journaling! If you want to see each page, watch my little walk-through video below! I hope you are inspired to beat the heat and make a little end-of-summer mini! Thanks for joining me today! The construction is inspired by the amazing Bea Valint and I have been dying to give a try for such a long time. When choosing the materia
Welcome back to the Safari Adventure project! I am up on the Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts Blog today with Part 2 of a two-part project! The tutorial for today explains how to create the four mini albums that fit into the Mini Album Display Case. I used Graphic 45 Safari Adventures and Tropical Travelogue (retired) paper collections to decorate. I also used the GSLCuts Safari Shape Set (coming soon). To see Part 1 of this project, please click HERE to learn how to make the display case. The display case has a 3 5/8" x 4 3/8" opening which fits four little mini albums. The kit comes with chipboard covers and spines to create all four books, each approximately 3 1/2" x 4 1/4" x 1". I added minimal decoration to the front of each album to make sure that all four would fit into the opening. Each album has a theme (clockwise from top left): lions and big cats, tigers, elephants and giraffes, zebras. Each album contains three pages, with pockets and tags. The basic design of each book is the same, but I varied the papers and embellishments to match each theme. (To see each mini, click on the video link below.) Now, let's get starting creating your own mini albums! 1. Cut paper to 5 1/2" x 12: and ink the edges with brown ink. Select two cover pieces and one spine piece from the kit. Construct a binding piece from black cardstock (see below). 2. Place the paper face down onto your work surface. center the covers and spine piece onto the paper. Keep a 1/6" gap between the covers and the spine. 3. Trim the corners and the spine section as shown. Fold the center spine section over the spine. Cut a strip of paper 3 3/8" x 1" and cover the spine. 4. Cut black cardstock to 3 3/8" x 2 1/2". Score at 1/4" across the 2 1/2" side. You will have 9 score lines. 5. Fold the cardstock into pleats to create three page tabs. You will end up with three 1/4" tabs with 1/4" gutters. Attach the tabs to the spine as shown. 6. Place strong adhesive around the edges of the paper. 7. Fold the paper toward the center. Cut two pieces of matching paper to 3 1/2" x 4 3/8". Sponge the edges with brown ink. 8. Attach the paper to the inside of the covers. Using a bone folder, gently score on both sides of the spine. Slowly bend the covers toward the center. To avoid the spine tearing, continue to score and fold gently. 9. The book is now assembled and ready for the pages. As you my be able to see, my paper tore just a tad in the lower right corner of the spine. If this happens, you may ink the area to disguise the tear. 10. If the torn area is large or it bothers you, simply cut a spine cover piece (3 1/2" x 4") and sponge the edges with brown ink. Attach the piece to the spine, wrapping around the book. Each little mini album is assembled in the same manner. 11. Decorate the cover, making sure that your decor is low profile in order to fit four albums into the display case. 12. The mini album pages are all 3 3/8" x 4" when assembled. For each mini album you need black cardstock cut to the following: (1) - 3 3/8" x 4" piece with a 1 1/4" half-circle notch cut into the right edge (1) - 3 3/8" x 6" piece, scored at 2" from the left edge to create a side pocket (1) - 5 3/8" x 4" piece, scored at 2" from the bottom edge to create a standard pocket (3) - 3 3/8" x 4" pieces 13. Cover the FRONT of each piece with decorative paper as shown. Decorate as desired. 14. Use strong adhesive to attach the notched page to the first tab. 15. Add adhesive to three sides of the back of one of the 3 3/8" x 4" pieces and attach to the back of the notched page, sandwiching the tab between the pages. The creates the first page of the album, and is also a large, side pocket. 16. Decorate a Graphic 45 black ATC tag and tuck it into the pocket you just created. (This page is from the elephant book.) You need two ATC tags for each mini album, for a total of 8 for the project. 17. Attach the pocket page to the second spine tab. Fill with small tags and ephemera. 18. Attach the second 3 3/8" x 4" page to the back of the pocket, sandwiching the tab between the pages. The creates the second page of the album. You may choose to make this page a side-pocket also, but I did not. 19. Attach the side pocket page to the third spine tab. Add the second ATC tag. 20. Attach the third 3 3/8" x 4" page to the back of the pocket, sandwiching the tab between the pages. The creates the third page of the album. (Please forgive my zebra. I tried to draw stripes onto the chipboard zebra from the Safari Shape Set, but, my skills in that area are not that great!) Each mini in the set is constructed in the same manner. Click the video link below to see each mini up close. Thanks for looking! Find all these wonderful chipboard items at the GSLCuts Store! So, fertig !!

Hello dear visitors! I'm excited to share another mini album I created using gorgeous Graphic 45 papers "Craft Reflections". It's not a new collection and I have had it for a long time in my stash. I thought it was perfect for a vintage style mini album like the one I'm showing you today. The album's dimensions are 5 1/4" X 6 5/8", the spine is 3". It has 8 pocket pages and I used envelopes (standard size 6.5" X 4.5") for creating the base for them. I also used quite a few of Tim Holtz & Sizzix dies, I think they are perfect for the vintage style projects. You can find the guidelines for creating the album, including the measurements and the list of the dies in the YouTube video which I've posted on my channel here. Drop me a comment if you have a question. I have a short video tutorial on making these tag pockets using the Stampin' Up Tag Topper Punch. You can find a walk-through for this mini album on my You Tube channel here: Thanks for watching a have a great weekend! Hugs, Alexandra

Hello and welcome to a new mini album by me, Stefanie Ried! Before I start with the new Bungalow Lane collection, I have created a small mini album with the Wonders collection. This is a gift for my daughter. She has long wanted an album for all her photos with her friends. And so an album to open was created. For this I used the beautiful Paper 22 with the colorful floral tiles and a nice color gradient was created. First I created the book cover with 2 cardboard pieces cut to 3.5x7.5" and 1 cardboard piece cut to 1.25x7.5". Glue a paper of your choice cut to 9.5x8.5" on these to make a book cover. Before gluing the paper for the inside, attach the ribbon to the cover for a closure. When the book cover was ready, I cut up the Paper 22. In total, I added 12 flower images to the album (each side has 6 pieces). In addition, I cut and folded 12 pieces of Bazzill textured white cardstock sized to 3x3.75". Score a line at 0.75". The colored paper was glued on the white paper as shown in the photos. Then the pages were glued into the album. I started at the top edge. The scored line is glued into the album so that the pages can be opened upwards. I hope you can see this well in the photos. The next page is glued directly underneath. When all pages were glued in, I decorated the pages. Now my daughter can fill the album with all her photos on the back pages. She is already busy with it :) Here are a few more pictures of the finished album: I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thanks for stopping by! Hello everyone, it's Deb Riddell of Paxton Valley Folk Art here with you today as a guest designer here at Mini Album Makers. A huge thank you to Autumn and her very talented design team for giving me the opportunity to share my project with you. I live in British Columbia, Canada on a small acreage with my hubby and our rescue dog (affectionately known as The Delinquent!) and I'm a mixed media artist and paper crafter. My style is usually vintage inspired feminine grunge but I love to experiment with many styles and mediums. I'm currently on Therm O Web's Mixed Media Education Team and am a Resident Tutor at Mixed Up Creative as well as a Creative Guide over at A Vintage Journey. I'm very lucky to be able to do what I love best everyday, create art! For my project today, I was strongly influenced by the spring weather that has finally arrived here in Canada and decided to make a little vertical mini album created with ... toilet paper rolls! I followed the YouTube tutorials shared by My Sisters Scrapper, you can find Part 1 of her tutorial here: https://youtu.be/-8vndiRxuWk and Part 2 here: https://youtu.be/_l3YfI2QuYc For my mini album, I used some thick chipboard packaging and covered it with papers from a Recollections 'Blossom and Bliss' paper pad. Laura Denison's 'Stack The Deck' hinge system was used to secure my 6 toilet paper roll 'pages'. I decided on a pink and green colour scheme and alternated the colours when wrapping the flattened toilet paper rolls. The inside and outside of the mini album was covered with more of the Blossom and Bliss paper and a line of Lime Green Stickles Glitter Glue was added around the edges. Journaling cards were created from white cardstock matted with more of the same paper and they were embellished on the front with a variety of die cuts and sentiments. I used kraft cardstock for all of the die cuts and embellished them with either embossing powders, foil or Perfect Pearls for a bit of shimmer. Stickers or stamped sentiments were also added to each card and the pulls were created with a Small Tattered Florals die cut. The back of each journaling card was stamped with Tim Holtz's 'Lined' background stamp. The first and last toilet paper roll pocket pages were embellished with flowers created with a combination of the Tattered Florals and Small Tattered Florals die cuts. Botanical Tea paper from Graphic 45 was used for these flowers which coordinated perfectly with the Blossom and Bliss papers. More flowers were created from the same Graphic 45 paper with the Small Tattered Florals dies to embellish the top of the mini album. On the front flap, a black metal bird sticker was painted with Spun Sugar Distress Paint and wiped back for an aged look but it was still a little too dark so I also inked it with Mushroom Alcohol Ink and Gold Mixative. One of Tim Holtz's Wildflower die cuts was cut from kraft cardstock and embossed with pearl embossing powder. A Metallic Quotations Sticker was backed with more kraft cardstock. Mini Detailed Butterflies were die cut from kraft cardstock and embossed with Irridescent Shimmer embossing powder for the back of the mini album. And here are a couple of more pictures of the inside of the mini album and the finished journaling cards. I hope that you've enjoyed seeing how my Sweet Life vertical mini album came together, I had a lot of fun making it. Thanks again to Autumn for the opportunity to share my project with you and have a wonderful week everyone, happy creating! Deb xo
