Hello Fellow Blog Readers, This is Mrs. G here! How are you doing? Summer is coming to an end and teachers/students are about to head back to school. Unfortunately this is very sad yet exciting at the same time. It's exciting because we get to see past students and meet new students. It's sad because we might have to leave little ones at home. My two littles ones are my son, Atreyu, who is 4 years old and my son, Sebastian, who is 4 months old. I also have a daughter, Harley, but she isn't going to miss me because she is starting kindergarten. This is actually perfect for her because she was wanted to go to school for the past year! She is ready and willing to learn. So I am excited to be taking her to school everyday to start learning and to make new friends. So why am I blogging today? Well, I am excited to say that I have started a teacherspayteachers store with my sister, Jenny. We have created our FIRST science interactive notebook bundle on CELLS together. It is amazing! It is neat because now I have someone to throw my ideas at and she can throw her ideas back at me. Her competitveness makes me competitive and drives me to think outside the box. So this bundle is SUPER cool because it has EVERYTHING you need to start a SCIENCE interactive notebook for experienced or new teachers. The first 10 pages are introduction activities and 1 foldable. Included in the bundle are a: (1) all about me worksheet, (2) classroom rules worksheet, (3) lab safety rules worksheet, (4) lab safety rules foldable, (5) notebook expectations worksheet, (6) notebook grading rubric worksheet, (7) reflection worksheet, (8) blank table of contents worksheet, (9) setting goals worksheet, (10) blank table of contents worksheet, (11) looking back & reflection on goals worksheet, and (12) look back over the year worksheet. This bundle has some great foldables where you can compare cells. For example, in the picture below you will see I have posted the "Two Types of Cells" and the "Eukaryote VS. Prokaryote Cell" foldables on the right side of an interactive notebook. Students can quiz themselves on how these two types of cells differ by opening the venn diagram foldable while looking at the foldable below it. The foldable on the bottom shows the two types of cells side-by-side. That foldable also opens up and shows how they compare and how they are similar. For those teachers that noticed that in both of the prokaryote and eukaryote foldables, they are on opposite sides, I fixed this. So if you buy the BUNDLE, they are on the same side. I love foldables! I constantly see my students using their foldables to review for a quiz. One student will open their notebook and ask the other student questions. Then he/she can open their foldable to see if the student was correct. Amazing TOOLS! Check out the plant vs animal cell foldables. Next to them, I put a prokaryote foldable so I could compare the cells. My FAVORITE foldables gotta be these foldables. I love the animal and plant cell foldables. Each organelle inside the animal and plant cell opens! So students can write in the definition of each organelle. I like sticking them next to each other in a interactive notebook so students can visually see the difference between the two (for example, the plant cell has chloroplasts where the animal cell does not). One thing teachers like to do is have students write metaphors for the organelles. I created this foldable where the organelles all have faces and look like they are talking. Soooooooo..... students just have to write in what the organelle is like. Then the student lifts up the flap and writes what the organelle actually does. For example, the nucleus says "i'm the boss of everyone!!" Underneath his flap, you would put, "the nucleus controls the cell." So students are making a real life connection to the organelle's function. One thing my sister is really good at is PUZZLES!!! So she created some AMAZING ones to include in the bundle. For example, she created a puzzle where students identify the name and function of a bunch of organelles in plant & animal cells. This bundle includes over 30 INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK ACTIVITIES!!! A few other topics it hits are - Living vs. Non-Living - Introduction to Cells/Robert Hooke & Cell Theory - Plasma Membrane - Photosynthesis & Cellular Respiration - Enzymes - Mitosis vs. Meiosis Few more pictures of the BUNDLE Interested in the BUNDLE?
