Hiya! How was your looooooooong holiday weekend (Nigerian readers)? Or your regular weekend for those who didn't have a holiday? Soooo, here I am on Monday night, exhausted out of my mind. If you follow me on Instagram you already know why. And if not, it's because like I mentioned in this post, I was heading to Abuja for the weekend. What I didn't say was that Cakes and I were driving from Lagos! Yup, a 10-hour drive to attend my uncle's birthday party and deliver the 34 cakes they ordered. 33 small cakes for each table, and 1 large cake for the celebrant - unfortunately, I forgot to take a photo of all the cakes piled up in the car :( Anyway, on Friday morning very early, we set out and started making our way. The roads are terrible in some spots, manageable in some, and nice in a few. Can we just have good roads all over Nigeria? Is that so much to ask? Meanwhile, we got stopped at almost all the security check points - no idea why. But all our papers are in order, so no worries :) While Cakes drove, I played with makeup :p On the way, we stopped at Lokoja for a little break and I think it's such an interesting place. I asked someone what the local foods were and he said most people in Lokoja are from different parts of the country, so it's a melting pot of sorts. The views in Lokoja were stunning and I couldn't help but take a few photos. I have never seen plantain fried whole or halved. It was really good though, and don't get me started on the sweet potatoes!!! When we got to Abuja, we were understandably very tired. We were able to get recommendations for shawarma via Instagram, and headed to Chicken Capitol at night to get food - all I know is I miss those fries!!! The shawarma itself was aight. On Saturday, we delivered the cake to the venue, which was decorated beautifully by The Wedding Guruu. Then we went to Tamanuel Spa for facials (saw a coupon on Dealdey the night before). We rushed back to our hotel, so I could get my henna tattoos and legs waxing done. Let me take a minute to say WAXING HURTS LIKE A (*^(*^%*&$^!!! Never ever ever ever AGAIN! I was running late but we managed to make it to the party just as dinner started. We had FUN!!!!!!!!!! Enh?!?! See dancing!!! I wish I could take you to a party just so we could dance and have fun. Cakes has lots of videos on his phone. On Sunday we didn't do much apart from going swimming, getting massages and a very expensive pedicure at Tamanuel Spa again, and seeing old friends. This champagne was soooooooo good! And today, Monday, we found our way back to Lagos. More stunning views in Lokoja Thanks be to God for a safe journey, and to Cakes for driving, and to my uncle and aunt for hosting us. I hope I'm done with road trips for the year - this chick is tired abeg. Have a lovely week everyone!
