In 1893 a Dental Surgeon turned Industrial Designer introduced lamps in this style at the Chicago Worlds Fair. They were a great success, and became an industrial standard for the next fifty years. The style has staged a comeback recently - originals are highly sought after and several modern versions are now being produced! • Heavy gauge polished steel arms, measuring 10" and 12" • 8" steel flat shade. • Solid brass joints. The center joint allows the light to articulate fully. • Solid brass U.L. rated socket with key-style rotary switch. • Accepts a standard light bulb (E26 socket) • Plug-in version (pictured) is wired with 9 feet (total) of twisted grey cloth covered cord and a quality polarized phenolic repro plug. The socket and wire are rated for 240V, so this light will work internationally with a change of plug or adapter. • Hardwire version comes with a 5" cylindrical steel wall plate and mount screws. Cord routing is slightly different for hardwire, but still features the exposed cord loop between the arms. • The dimmer versions are built with a dimmer insert inside the socket. They feature a knurled brass knob instead of the key-style knob pictured. The inserts are rated for US 120V supply only - they will not work with 240V. • Light bulb is not included unless you are located in California (California orders ship with a CFL bulb.) • All steel components ship with a high quality wax finish which will need to be replenished periodically to avoid corrosion. These extension lamps are extremely versatile – install one or a pair in your living or reading area, or as a bedside lamp! They can be posed any number of ways and provide excellent illumination. Form and function combined in a refined take on industrial style!

Leyland National Mk.1 Long 2 Door London Country Superbus KPA101K. Superbus LN1 on route SB1 Chells & Bus Station. Pre-production chassis no 003 new in April 1972, registered KPA101K, fleet number LN1, was the first of no fewer than 543 Leyland Nationals delivered new to National Bus Company subsidiary London Country Bus Services Ltd, from 1972 to December 1979. LCBS was formed on January 1st 1970 under the Transport (London) Act 1969 which required London Transport Country bus and Green Line coach services to be separated from the Central Area red buses and Underground railways. Superbus began as an experiment in the Hertfordshire new town of Stevenage in July 1971. An initiative between the Stevenage Development Council and LCBS, Superbus was a daily flat fare bus service connecting the suburb of Chells with the shopping centre and industrial area, marketed to entice motorists to leave their cars at home and take the Superbus instead. The service was launched with seven AEC Swifts and two Metro-Scanias painted in a distinctive blue and yellow livery with “SB” motifs. Further Swifts and Metro-Scanias were joined by London Country’s first two Leyland Nationals, KPA101K and KPA102K, which entered service in September 1972. The increased intake of vehicles enabled the introduction of a second Superbus route, SB2, serving the St Nicholas area of Stevenage. Two more Superbus Leyland Nationals NPD103L & NPD104L joined the others in December 1972. KPA101K’s service life was relatively short. Withdrawn in the early 1980s, it was converted to single-door and rebuilt as a mobile classroom, and believed scrapped by 1989.
