Split Oak Lamp This rugged beauty was created from a single piece of salvaged oak recovered from a flooring company. The ancient oak had a natural split that when separated, revealed the "charred" interior. The 2 pieces nicely frame the industrial style Edison bulb. The wood has been sanded and given an oil rubbed finish that is buttery smooth. It is sure to turn heads in any room you choose to place it. The oak was recovered from a friend's flooring business. As you can tell from the dense tree rings, this is from a very old tree. This piece weighs in at a heavy 18lbs. Originally destined to become part of a stair case, they didn't make the cut because of the imperfections which are now the beauty marks. Although flat on the bottom, I left the other angular cuts to give it a unique look. The height ranges from 10.5" to 10.75. Other than the interior of the wood, the remaining sides are flat and smooth. This piece is mounted on a rectangular slab of oak that has grooves cut on the bottom that allow the cord to "hide" in any direction it is displayed.
