The idea of beautiful perennial shrubs that share their sweet bounty every year without me needing to plant them gives me great joy. But I don't have a million or two to BUY that DREAM, So I will GROW it! Every Year I start seeds and plant little baby bushes. Every Year I research and source out new exotic, and old traditional berries. Every Year we have more berries, canned, dried, baked, fermented, ENJOYED It will take me years for the dream farm I have envisioned. But that's ok, because I know that every year I get closer to it. And When I'm done, I know my boys and their families will know the JOY of eating fresh berries right off the bush. ♥ And perhaps in time, our community will share that joy, and I can hand down a business with the land and Berries I Love ♥ GROWING INSTRUCTIONS Growing raspberries from seed is easy to do and it’s much cheaper than buying raspberry canes at the garden centre, although it does take a bit longer. Raspberry seeds cold stratification which means need to be soaked clean tepid water for 60 minutes, then put in a moist sterile medium, and then put in a cold place (fridge-not freezer) for 60-90days, then planted. Be patient, as berries are slow to germinate, expect 14-28 days for germination, keeping it moist but not soaked the whole time. Personally I find that the trickiest part, making sure they do not dry out in my fire warmed winter house. Too much water can cause it to rot, too little and the seed dries out. Plant outside after all risk of frost has passed. Raspberry plants grow best in full sun, so choose a spot in the garden that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight each day.

Aren't turnips beautiful! This crochet copy of nature's design has shading on the root and three different, naturally uneven leaves. No visible seams or front/back - it looks great from all angles! Like all my fruit and veg, these turnips are designed to be realistic and approximately life-sized when made in double-knitting (light worsted weight, Category 3) yarn, with a 3.5mm (E-4) crochet hook. But of course you can make it larger or smaller with your choice of yarn and an appropriate hook. The pattern includes detailed notes on yarn quantities and types, and stuffing choices. The patterns in UK and US crochet terminology are included - you can just choose whichever you prefer to use. All my patterns come with my full support - just e-mail me if you have any questions. Important features of my crochet patterns: My crochet patterns include both a detailed 'tutorial-style' set of instructions with colour photos, and a succinct unillustrated pattern using standard crochet conventions - the best of both worlds! Please see my other matching fruit and vegetable patterns. Once purchased, this pattern remains the copyright of Little Conkers. You may not reproduce all or any part of this pattern.
