creating literary potions of romantic notions
Dismantling the distant romantic notion of Prince Charming with brutal honesty, Jess Stewart releases her latest single 'Prince Charming (Went To Hell)'.

Hello all you wonderful ladies!! First off I want to say a huge thank you to each of you who left a comment on my previous post. Y'all are so sweet!! You really know how to make someone feel wonderful! And if you are a lace lover, you might want to stick around to the end of this post!!! As promised, here is how I made this Fabric and Lace Collage: It started out in my mind as to the color scheme and the verse I wanted to use. I picked out these colors because I'm in love with pink and cream together and wanted to have something lovely to hang in my living room. I got all the bits and pieces of laces, trims, buttons and etc.'s I might want to use and put them all together to play with SEE how they looked. Here is the post I did on that grouping. Mind you, I did not use everthing I started with, and added other things to what I originally had picked. Using the freezer paper method of printing on plain muslin (found directions on Pinterest), I printed out sections of the Bible verse I wanted to use, then cut them into the size I wanted. The background fabric I used was a fleecy pink piece from Walmart, and I covered it with a gauzy piece of patterned white organza that I found from an Etsy shop. As I laid out the verse on the background pieces, I started to cut other fabrics to go behind the patches until I had them like I wanted them. At this point I decided that these patches of words needed a darker pink background, so I cut pieces of the darkest pink fabric to put under each word or phrase to unify the whole piece. After sewing each patch together with dark mauve thread (using the machine), I took each piece and sat down to start the really fun part!! A few containers loaded with laces, trims, buttons, pearls, etc. and some light pink thread to attach them with. Each patch got special attention and details that differed from all the others. I had enough lace trims to use a unique one for each patch! But the colors unify the whole. After a few evenings of sewing the doodads and goodies to the patches, it was time to pin them on the base piece. Here is where I realized that I should probably have waited to cut the base fabrics until I could determine the arrangement. But it all worked out because it fit nicely and still had room for the OTHER laces and trims and appliques I wanted to use. Laying them loosely on the background, moving things here and there, rechecking the order of the words (And how to spell Philippians and make a corrected piece!), I began to pin things down. I wanted to make sure of the whole thing, so I left it for the night. It was amazing what sunshine and another day did for me. I was looking at it again with some ideas for a few changes, but it stayed primarily the way I had left it. After finishing the pinning of each object, I began the sewing and tacking. I brought my jars of pearl buttons, a dish full of trims and other pieces to my chair where I was sewing. And I didn't drop a single button between the cushion of the recliner!! Using the light pink thread, I started at the bottom of the piece and hand sewed (tacked) each row of lace or patches to the foundation piece. I started at the bottom so I wouldn't have pins sticking me while I worked. This is a fun part too, as I get to touch and play with each of the laces and trims, add a button or pearl here or there as I go, and before too long, it was nearing completion! All I had left to do was to hang it on a hanger of some type. I found a ruled piece of wood from my Birthmother's sewing items that looked like it was a hem measuring device without the stand. PERFECT!! After sewing quick loops to the top of the collage piece it was ready to hang. And here you have it! You can see the post of this collage finish on my previous post. I already have another one in mind!!! I'm picking out the pieces for it now!! But in the meantime, how about a GIVEAWAY??? I put aside pieces and snippets of some of the laces that I used for this current collage so that I could pack it up and send it to someone that wanted to play with some pretty laces and trims!! All you have to do to be entered in this giveaway is to leave a comment telling me what you might do with the contents of the bag! Simple and easy! The giveaway will end on Tuesday night April 2nd at midnight, just six days from now so I can pick a winner next week. Here is a quick picture of what is included in the goodie bag! Dish not included! I have more to add, and will do so during this week. "Hearts and flowers, ribbons and lace, the look of love upon her face." ~Unknown Life has been so busy lately that I just haven't had time to do a proper post - the kind where I devote an entire afternoon to setting up and taking photographs. I miss it! So yesterday I MADE time so that I could take some pictures for you that I have been wanting to take for ages! I love ribbons, lace, trims, embroidery, fabric flowers, etc, etc (you probably already knew that!). I have amassed quite a collection now and have been so excited to share it with you. My Mum and I use some of these things to make the GILLYFLOWERS and others are being saved for that future special project. I dip into this supply and replace things all the time. Many of these trims come from France and Japan where some of the most beautiful ribbons I have found are made. My guilty pleasure now is to visit the little ribbon store in town and find something new for my collection. I have tried to display everything well and I hope that you enjoy this little perusal. I have also added a few new things to the Etsy SHOP so stop by and have a peek! Wherever you are I hope you are enjoying this beautiful Summer week! I am sharing with: What's It Wednesday NEW ETSY STORE ITEMS

The Problem by Piper Scott My rating: 4 of 5 stars Hot hot hot! The Problem is a full-length mpreg novel about an older alpha and a younger omega. It features male pregnancy and the typical omegaverse narrative. It has much better writing and a better story than many mpregs and was surprisingly good. The omega in the pairing, Alex, is a creative and intelligent young man. He's an artist who has synesthesia--when he feels emotions, he sees colors that reflect them. He can literally see emotions. And each emotion is a different color. After being heartbreakingly attacked by his lover, Alex no longer takes chances with his heart. Instead he selects hot, older guys to get down and dirty with, then tosses them aside. When he spots mature and sexy alpha Laurence at his painting exhibit he can't help dragging the man to the back for some no-strings fun. Laurence is starting to feel his age. He's devoted his life to his son, but the boy is now 16, old enough to handle his single father finally starting to date again. If only Laurence felt more comfortable and sure of himself. It's been a long time since he even tried to flirt. When a gorgeous young man, only a few years older than his son, starts a conversation with him at a art exhibit, Laurence isn't quite sure he can keep up. But Alex is hotter than anyone he's ever met before, so if the younger omega is willing to overlook his age, then he'll do his best to please him. Alex is even sexier when he forces Laurence to his knees so he can use his mouth. Laurence can't resist, especially after Alex's suit is opened to reveal the lace panties he's nearly popping out of. Still not even knowing each others names, the two have a hot little session in the back of the studio, then Alex pulls himself together to go back out to his show. But unlike his normal, this time Alex actually lets Laurence in a little and gives him his business card so they can get together once more. Both men are nervous about taking things further. No matter that the colors Alex sees when he's with Laurence tell him that he could fall for the older man, Alex is afraid to chance his heart again. He decides that if Laurence calls he'll just get together with him once more and that's it. Laurence has been out of the dating game for years, and is worried about venturing back in with a hot, younger man instead of someone older and settled like himself. Can they even have a relationship? Both worried, but drawn to each other, Laurence and Alex get together once more, only to find that they can't keep their hands off of each other. Alex's mischievous nature and dirty talk drive Laurence to take him hard and raw. 'Daddy's dirty boy' is loving it until Dad's actual son walks in and hears and sees things no one involved wants. Awkwardness ensues, and the men think they'll never see each other again. But Laurence and Alex still want each other, and another surprise means they might not be done with one another. So, I rarely like books that are all about the sex. I read books for a good story, not to get off. But this one was hot enough to be an exception. Boys in lace panties is one of the hottest things ever, and while I typically find them more appealing on hyper-masculine alpha types, it was still definitely hot to read about on Alex. And dominant older men being called Daddy by their boy is a hot button as well. The sex scenes were actually good and not just the same drivel found in many books. There was also some knotty action as well if you're into that. While more than half of the book was sex and that would normally make me dislike it, the actual writing and storyline was interesting enough to make up for it and the sex scenes actually being good was a bonus. All the characters were interesting and were well thought out. Complex, with backstories. Not just caricatures. They were also people worth being interested in. While it's nice to have flawed characters, too often the flaws are bad enough that they are unlikeable. This hit that sweet spot. Alex is covering up his soft heart by trying not to get involved and sleeping with random men. He's a bit young and spontaneous. Laurence is older and set in his ways. He thinks he always needs to plan everything out. One leads from the heart, the other from the head, but together they match. The witty banter at the beginning of the book is interesting, but may turn some people off. Don't worry, it smoothes out and becomes less of a show of intelligence. That part is just establishing who the characters are and letting us get to know them. Though this does tend to be a cerebral story, we reside in the character's heads a lot and see how they are thinking about things. There is doing as well as thinking though, so it's not too far into the mental aspects of falling in love either. Overall, I think this book just got it. It wasn't 'too' anything or lacking anything. As Goldilocks would say, it was just right. This book was another one set in the town of Aurora. I find that even in books that don't interact with other series by the same author it is enriching to have them set in the same place. It's like having tons of backstory available even if it's not acknowledged. I think I'll go find Piper Scott's Aurora series to see the town through different eyes. This was also the first book in a new series by Piper Scott. The Single Dads Support Group is a mpreg series about single dads finding love. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I really hope Gabe gets his HEA.

"Love of beauty is taste. The creation of beauty is art." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson Thankyou everyone for your congratulations - I have passed them along to my sister and I hope that I will have pretty photos to share with you in the coming months! We are all very excited! For now - what is more romantic than lace!!? I was looking through my box of lace recently (I keep them in a box because I have ran out of places to put everything!) and I thought that my collection had grown so much in the last year that I should take some pictures! I love lace - I have definitely said it before. I have been given many beautiful pieces over the years - heirlooms from my Mum and special pieces that the lovely people I work for at Heirlooms have found for me. I have often fantasized about visiting lace shops in Europe - opening the doors and being surrounded by gorgeous pieces of lace. That would be a dream come true!! Here are some photos I have taken of a few of my favorite pieces displayed around my house. I hope you like them! I have also just finished a new drawing called 'Sparkling Pink'.
