Of the ancient "Great Painting", that is the one on wood or fresco, we have only very few testimonies, given the great perishable nature of the materials. The loss suffered is all the more deplorable as the ancient texts cite the work and the names of famous Greek painters, such as Zeusi, Parrasio or Apelles, with great admiration. Unlike classical sculpture, the originals of which can be glimpsed through copies of the Roman age, it is very difficult for painting to reconstruct works that have been irremediably lost for us. However, some reflections of great painting can be found in objects that have come down to us from the "minor arts". In fact, some of the painted vases (or other objects, in bronze, etc.), present scenes that cannot have been independently developed by the ceramographer or the craftsman: they are, in fact, very complex scenes, which have been adapted to the shapes and to the dimensions of the vase, but which derive from the "great painting". Sol Invictus, which means Invincible Sun in Latin, is the primary religion of the former Roman World, save for in areas such as Britain, the Balkans, or Asia Minor where large populations of non-Romans immigrated in the following years, or in Egypt, which retained its own different religion. Sol Invictus first arose in the second century AD, where the new worship of the god Sol, often called Invictus, arose. In 274 Sol Invictus became the official sun god. In the fourth century, Sol Invictus was
