Capture the essence of the Scottish seaside right within your living space with this enchanting print, evoking the tumultuous and haunting beauty of the Sound of Iona. Observed through a lens of Art Nouveau influence, the artwork offers a mesmerizing portrayal of nature's raw power and elegance. Billowing whitecaps and frothing waves crash against a series of jagged rocks, displaying a vivid contrast of motion and stability. The sea, painted in swirling shades of deep blue and white, churns with energy, drawing the eye to the whirlpools of colour suggesting the sea's unrelenting movement. Overhead, the tempestuous sky, rendered in tones of slate grey and muted blue, intensifies the atmosphere with a sense of an impending storm. This dynamic sky-scape looms over the cove, its heavy palette hinting at the weight of the Scottish sky, often filled with drama and unpredictability. The rocky cove itself is depicted with an intuitive understanding of the rugged textures that characterise Scotland's coast, with the interplay of light and dark accentuating the forms shaped by centuries of wind and waves. A lighthouse stands silently in the distance, a solitary sentinel amidst the wild, undulating waters, suggesting mankind's small but steadfast presence within the vast natural world. The intricate linework and stylised contours typical of Art Nouveau lend this piece an alluring and timeless quality, making it a perfect addition to any space that seeks to incorporate elements of nature, history, and artistry with a particular nod to Scottish landscapes and the lore of its captivating coves.

A self-taught sculptor, Romain Langlois studied medical books and anatomical charts to understand the human body, building his first sculptures using only plaster and clay. Seeking a more permanent material, Langlois turned to bronze, a metal he now incorporates into works that are inspired by nature rather than man. His pieces visually pull apart the natural objects that surround us—building works that appear as bisected rocks, boulders, and tree trunks. These sculptures showcase glistening bronze protruding from their insides, unleashing the perceived inner energy of each object. More

Got yarn? Got rocks? Good. Then you have all the materials needed for today's summer craft. We'll be doing some easy rock wrapping! Lovely Yarn Wrapped Rocks This post contains affiliate links. This means I make a teeny tiny bit of money from any purchases made through the Amazon links below. Thank you for your support! For my full disclosure, click here. Now that we've officially entered summer, trips to the beach are on the horizon. Not sure about you, but my son and I can never resist bringing home a small smooth rock or two from the shore. Over the years we've amassed quite a collection. They're the perfect size and texture to use for play, building, and crafting. Here are some of Our Favorite Rockin' Rock Crafts! (Hee hee hee!) Rock Tic-Tac-Toe Game You Rock My World Paper weights Play dough and Rock Houses Colorful (No Paint) Rocks Melted Crayon Friendship Rocks Painted Heart Rocks Neon Doodled Rocks Today's rock craft is by far the easiest one yet. We're just taking yarn and wrapping them around rocks. Of course, you can just wrap the rocks all willy nilly and get a lovely outcome. Or, you can wrap them with a little more precision to get rocks with yarn that looks like it's been woven or braided on. Find some smooth, flat, and long-ish rocks. Wash them if needed. Then, cut a stand of yarn. (I find that multi-colored rainbow yarn works the best because you get a nice gradation of colors.) (Note: You will use 2 hands to do this... but I needed one hand to take photos so I only show 1 hand.) Place a strand on top of your rock. Pull it tightly behind in a horizontal fashion. Then pull it over your rock to make an "x." Then pull your yarn behind again. Then, keep wrapping this same pattern- over, behind, over, behind, etc... Each time move the yarn slightly over from where you previously wrapped. Make sure to keep everything tight! Keep going! Then, tie your two ends to the back when you're done. If you use multi-colored rainbow yarn the colors will change. Or, you could always just tie on new strands of color. (That's what I did for the rainbow one below. But it was tricky hiding my knots behind the rock.) Hope you have a wonderful time going to the beach, collecting rocks, and trying out this craft too.
