A sweet romance dealing with hard issues Vanessa and Topher have been like oil and water, constantly getting on one another's nerves. #bookreview
For the Love of Caramel by Kyle Richards is a recipe book of various desserts containing this sweet sugar-based ingredient: caramel. In the introduction, the author makes an attempt to describe the flavour of caramel and then he continues with a short history of this unique ingredient. Then he continues with presenting other cooking processes – caramelization - and well known candies from the caramel family, such as toffee for example, finishing off with some useful cooking tips. The main body of the book contains caramel based recipes from classic caramel and caramel bars to macadamia-nougat caramel or lemon angel cake with caramel sauce to name just a few. Each recipe has the necessary ingredients and a step-by-step description of the cooking process. There are also some pictures with the finished products that complete the book. For the Love of Caramel by Kyle Richards is the perfect recipe book for dessert lovers, especially those who, like me, love caramel. It is a little cook book, very handy for when you feel like making a dessert, a book that should be in any kitchen. The recipes are clearly written and easy to follow. The short introduction and the photos complete the book as they not only give readers some useful information about caramel without being too overwhelming, but also show readers how some recipes should look. I enjoyed reading through all the recipes in the book, but I also tried some of them and my favourites so far are caramelized nuts and caramel corn.

About the Book Book: Painted Memories Author: A.M. Heath Genre: Christian Historical Romance Release date: March 8, 2021 She moved on when the love of her life died in the war, but what will happen when she finds out he’s alive? Olivia Jernigan never thought she’d get over Grady. But three years after his death, she’s on the verge of marrying Kenneth Wade when she receives a new painting by her deceased fiancé. Olivia flees home to learn what really happened to the man she thought died in the Korean War. The man she thought loved her enough to come home for her. Grady Barnes woke up three years ago in a hospital room with no knowledge of his identity. The only memory to resurface is the image of a woman he can’t stop painting. When she suddenly shows up at his painting class, she may help him discover where he really belongs or she may disrupt the life he was building for himself. Olivia and Grady have a history. But now, they wonder if they still have a future … or perhaps, their love is just a painted memory. My Thoughts "Painted Memories" is the second book in the Art of Love series, but they are not tied to each other and can each be read as standalones. Whenever I pick up a book by A.M. Heath, I know that it will be well written and woven through with biblical truths. "Painted Memories" was no exception. I liked Grady and Olivia and was conflicted all the way through the book over who I thought Olivia should marry. The tug in both directions was strong. Olivia's emotions and loss were relatable even with not having gone through anything like she did. The setting of the Korean War era was one that I am not that familiar with, so it was fun being immersed in the culture of the time. I eagerly await the next book by A.M. Heath. Click here to get your copy! About the Author Besides being an Indie Author, I’m a wife, mother of four, children’s Sunday School teacher, sweet tea drinker, history fanatic, romantic, bubbly, lover of broccoli, and a retired cake decorator who has a soft spot for Christmas trees, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, and sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. What I’m not is a laundress (or at least not one who keeps up very well), a duster, tall, or patient in a doctor’s office. More from A.M. Heath The Blessing of Unexpected Research With any novel, there’s always a measure of research involved. While historical novels are more in-depth, even contemporary novels need research when the characters are involved in a job or a setting the author isn’t familiar with. Research can feel so random at times. It’s almost comical the strange topics you end up spending an hour or longer digging into online. As I sat down to write Painted Memories, I was already well into the first drafts of Dance With Me and Yesterday’s Christmas, so the 1950s setting wasn’t as foreign to me as it once had been. But there were newer aspects involved. For example, I recently found myself researching long-distance calls during the 1950s. And I often look up commonly misspoken phrases/words. One of the ways I love to research is to imagine myself in the character’s shoes. Sometimes I have opportunities to play pretend. Maybe a little red lipstick or a new hairstyle to help me get into character. Visiting a historical home to get a feel for the lifestyle from long ago. A walk in the rain might be an opportunity to imagine the weary march of a soldier. A bad case of strep was once inspiration for a character on their death bed. But, by far, the most memorable research experience was given to me by surprise. It was one of those things that I didn’t ask for and I wasn’t thrilled with when it happened but, even at that moment, I couldn’t help noticing the timing of it all and the big way God would use it for good. I forgot the PIN to my debit card. We all forget things from time to time. But this was a PIN that I used multiple times a week for nearly twenty years. YIKES! I was standing at the register when “poof” the code disappeared from my brain. I remember standing there in panic because nothing came to mind. I punched in a couple of combinations but neither was correct. I spent the next couple of weeks trying to remember it but I never did. It was confusing and scary. I remember searching my brain but there was only empty darkness. Yet, I could feel it. I could practically sense it right on the edge of my mind, but I never could bring it any closer. I was amazed at my sudden connection to Grady. When I wrote for him, I put myself in his shoes and imagined what it would feel like. But when a small piece of my memory suddenly disappeared, I had a new understanding. When I wrote his scenes where he talks about sensing a memory close by but never being able to bring it any closer, I wrote that from experience. That’s exactly how it felt for me. I had started the first draft about 2 weeks before I forgot my PIN. So instead of being angry, I couldn’t help being grateful. I thanked God and put my experience to good use. It was all I could do. Sometimes we’re not dealt with the easiest hand. But if we’re willing to let Him, God can still use it for our good and His glory. In the book, Grady and Olivia talk about how God redeemed the time they thought was lost. That time when they thought everything was ruined and nothing was going right, God was using in a subtle but remarkable way. The Christian life is often like that. We tend to think that something has lost all purpose but God is redeeming it and making it into something beautiful. I’d love to hear from you. Is there a moment in your life when it seemed that all was lost but looking back you can see how God was using it for good? What's that thing in your life? That thing that happened that changed your life forever. That thing that keeps you in the past, afraid to dream again.
Book Description He needed a fresh start, but twin babies weren’t part of the plan… Hoping to start over, Jack Tomlinson intends to leave his hometown—until twin babies are dropped on his doorstep. He needs help, and the best nanny he knows is Laramie Chambers. As they bond over the babies, Jack can’t help but feel drawn to Laramie. But proving he’s not just her friend’s irresponsible brother could be a bigger challenge than suddenly becoming a dad… My Thoughts I’m starting to become a sucker for stories that include little babies, and An Unexpected Arrangement gave me not one, but two little ones as part of this unconventional romance. Jack and Laramie are thrust together unexpectedly as he needs her help in taking care of twin girls that arrive on his doorstep. His past has caught up with him after a one night stand, and a social worker informs him that their mother is now deceased. Poor Jack – he doesn’t know the first thing about diapers, cribs, or making a bottle, but thank Heavens, his friend Laramie does. He knows that she has been a nanny, and is the first person he calls to help him through this new dilemma. He’s too embarrassed to call his family for help as he’s pushed them outside his life for so long. Laramie has held a torch for Jack for a long time. She agrees to help Jack for a few weeks as a nanny, but vows that she will keep their relationship strictly professional. She’s trying to set out on her own as an entrepreneur as she believes it’s the only way she can help her grandmother with money to care for her grandfather. She also has plans for the summer that have been in place for months, and an unexpected job as a nanny is not what she expected to spend all of her free time doing. I empathized with Jack so much – even though my girls are well past 6 months old! Raising babies is hard work, and even harder for someone that has no experience! I also empathized with Laramie as her grandfather has Alzheimer’s, and her grandmother is trying so hard to manage his care on her own. This was my first experience with this newish author to the Love Inspired line, and it was such a sweet contemporary romance! I liked that the author did not shy away from creating characters that have a past they’re not proud of, and sometimes, mistakes come with life-changing consequences. I very much want to read about the other characters, too – especially Landon. I can already tell that he is going to be a swoon-worthy hero in the next installment of the Merritt’s Crossing series. 4 Stars **This post contains affiliate links, and I may be compensated upon your purchase of any item(s) through those links. **One little jewelry item is coming soon as inspired by this book! 🙂 If you’re not sure what I mean, be sure to check out this What I Do Here post for more info.

My rating: 5 stars / It was amazing Synopsis Spinster, sweet Spinster Isabella Lambert is a nice person. She is biddable, polite, soft-spoken, and eager to please. She also happens to be a spinster, and one of the writers of the infamous Spinster Chronicles, where she is less polite, more outspoken, and may not please anyone. Izzy also has a secret that only one person knows, and that one person may hold the key to its success. Sebastian Morton finds Izzy Lambert fascinating. She is the perfect mentor for his younger sister as well as a capable and charming friend for him. When opportunity strikes to spend more time with her, her secret becomes his. But will this secret, and others, ruin their connection? My Review The Spinster Chronicles is a fun series full of friendly banter and vibrant personalities. It was nice to get to know Izzy better and learn about why she has found herself as a doormat for her family, which bled into her social life in Society as well. I loved that Sebastian recognizes that there is more to her and encourages her to stand up for herself and her feelings. It takes some effort and some practice, but eventually she is able to demonstrate to herself and others that just because she's nice doesn't mean that she can be taken advantage of. While mentoring his sister during her debut brings them together more often, it is her storytelling talent that she has turned into a secret endeavor to be published that draws them even closer together. Their sweet romance is charming and full of chemistry, but not without conflict. This installment of the Chronicles kept me entertained and happy with the development of both plot and characters. (I received a complimentary copy of the book; all opinions in this review are my own) Don't miss the first two books in the Spinster Chronicles series . . .
