This is a Sewing Pattern This is a 1960s SEWING PATTERN, this is not a dress -The picture of the pattern may not correspond to the design, it is here to show what my paper pattern looks like- I'm a pattern maker, and all my patterns are handmade to a standard size or custom size. That way, some measurements can be modified if necessary. They contain English notes as well as notches that make it easy to join the pieces of the pattern together. A cutting diagram and information on the required yardage are included. I'm afraid they do not include sewing instructions or - No hem or seam allowance. - No detailed instruction, only the notches and symbols, and named lines basic instructions. - No step-by-step illustrations to go with instructions. However, I can write some basic construction steps if you need any specific steps in the process that you would like me to describe. ~.~.~ 1961 famous back evening Laroche modern design dress ~.~.~ ¨¨¨°ºOº°¨¨¨¨°ºOº°¨¨¨¨°ºOº°¨¨¨¨°ºOº°¨¨¨¨°ºOº°¨¨¨ This is a dress design pattern made exclusively for you, with your custom size or standard size. To assure the best fit possible, please refer to my INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS by copying and pasting the following address into your browser: http://contrapunt.weebly.com/taking-measurements.html Once you’ve taken your measurements, please paste them into the “Note” box on the Order page. ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ How to choose a STANDARD SIZE? I can make standard sizes S, M, L, or XL with small adjustments to better fit you. Sizes are a tricky issue, and there aren’t any hard and fast rules, but I’d say my list of sizes is more European than American. To assure the best fit possible, please refer to my INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS by copying and pasting the following address into your browser: http://contrapunt.weebly.com/taking-measurements.html The best way to know your size is to take some measurements of yourself and use them to gauge your size. I can also modify a pattern to better fit your measurements. For example: You choose size S (Europe 40-42). If your body is closer to the first number, 86 (Upper bust/Torax 86-88 cm), than the second, 88, please tell me. Otherwise, the pattern will be the standard size S of between 86-88 cm for the upper bust. ~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~.~ All sizes, both standard and custom, can be modified to your liking (for example, waist higher or lower; skirt longer, shorter, wider, narrower, unpleated, etc.). A dress can be made as either one or two pieces—as a blouse and skirt, for instance. Please specify any of these alterations by email, or at the bottom of the form “Taking measurements”. Poor posture can destroy the appearance of even the most beautiful woman on earth. This 1950s charm school lesson examines the importance of model posture for health and beauty.
Let's head for the hills with our hats pinned on securely! Isn't this old illustration both interesting and fun? The women being shown in the foreground are covered, literally, from the neck down, and yet they have been exercising during warmer weather. I find that somewhat astonishing, don't you? Despite my repairs and work on this particular project, I am leaving it in the Public Domain. Please observe all copyrights and red letter Guidelines at all other types of posts here at this blog. Thank you. The woman in blue is wearing "bloomers" or a form of knee-length cycling trousers. Her hat has a slightly masculine and sporty flair, while the cut of her suit's jacket shows a definitely feminine (and corseted) figure. Notice her sensible, flat heeled shoes. Such a style was viewed as being innovative at that time. The woman in pink is dressed less for sport and more as though she might possibly be on an errand of some sort. Women were really set free by their modern bicycles in the latter part of the 1800's and could be found free wheeling from place to place in dry weather on roads in town and country during the late 1800's. This continued on into the early 1900's. Nowadays, bicycles are seen as commonplace for sport and for commuting. This brief clip from the series, "The 1900 house" can give us a small taste of what cycling must have felt like for women during that late Victorian era, when cycling for women was becoming more and more respectable and less and less disliked byVictorian critics of women's sports. Such an adventure this would have been for any woman! Happy sporting creativity! When World War One ended in 1918, people were obviously happy. So happy in fact that their collective euphoria ultimately influenced the fashion of the time. The era came to be defined by the emergence of vintage fashion, and as you can see from these pictures, it still looks awesome over 90 years later.

This PDF is an unaltered scan of a 1950s Coats & Clark knitting pattern for a wrap blouse designed by Claire McCardell, the creator of the American “look.” Called “Convertible,” the blouse can be worn with the wrap in the front or back, as shown in the picture. Made in two pieces with lots of increasing and decreasing (beware!), this top drapes so sexily it makes even the minimally endowed model in the picture look alluring. Directions are given for a size 12 (or what was a size 12 then. See measurements below). Changes for sizes 14 and 16 are in parentheses. Materials called for are 9 (10, 10) skeins of Coats & Clark’s Red Heart Super Fingering yarn, 1 pair of No. 2 knitting needles, 1 snap closure, and 1.25-inch button. The gauge is 8 stitches or 11 rows for 1 inch. I’m not sure what made the recommended C&C yarn “super,” but I’m sure today’s modern-day fingering yarn will work just fine.
