I have visited Illinois several times in my life. Both times it has really been to the Chicago area. I absolutely love Chicago. I have walked the Navy Pier, been to Wrigley Field, ridden the "L" through town, walked down the Magnificent Mile and in my pre-gluten-free days I enjoyed my fair share of Chicago-style pizza. Now that we live just hours away, I can't wait for the day we can take our children to see the Shed Aquarium, the Legoland Discovery Center and so much more!

Today you can work your way through these links and create a wonderful unit study on the state.

Montana may seem like a state you don't want to visit, but I have to disagree. There is something amazing and beautiful about wide-open spaces. This is another state I visited on my college choir tour and we stayed in two cities - Billings and Havre. Fun fact, while in Havre we experienced a blizzard and had nearly a foot of snow fall in just a few hours, which they drove through without problem. And this was during Spring Break in March!
Having lived in Southern Indiana for the past 4 years, we frequently visited Kentucky. Mostly we traveled to Louisville, when we wanted a "big city" experience or just for a night out. Now that we travel full-time, we are looking forward to visiting Lexington later this month, which is a part of the state we haven't seen before.

Since we have never been to the Northeast, we have never visited New Hampshire. However, it is definitely on our list - especially my husband's who is dying for a Lobster Roll. I want to visit the Northeast and New England states to see all the lighthouses - I've always been fascinated with them. Unfortunately, due to the quickly approaching colder weather we will not make it up there this year - but hopefully next Spring/Summer we will.

Ever since I watched the show, Cake Boss, I have wanted to visit New Jersey. Specifically Hoboken, New Jersey, since that's where Carlo's Bakery is located. Sadly I can't eat any of their amazing pastries anymore, but I would still like to visit and see it in person. My husband and kids want all the treats, of course, so maybe one day we will get there!
I have only been to Nebraska a handful of times, but never just to tour and look around. Mostly we were passing through on our way somewhere or coming back from somewhere. However, I have family and friends there and we would love to take the kids there one day. There are so many neat and fascinating places to see and visit, not to mention the state has a rich history.
