Pepsi's 1893 Ginger Cola - Rastelli's Market A few days ago I reviewed the 1893 Original soda, and today I have the ginger version. Ginger is a flavor I used to hate. I remember thinking that it tasted like a cleaning product and avoided it whenever possible, but after several years of food blogging I've changed my tune. In fact, I prefer my ginger snacks and sweets to be on the extremely spicy side these days. Will Pepsi's 1893 throwback make the cut? Let's find out! The can is shiny, like a gold bar, which looks really elegant in person, but this was a NIGHTMARE to photograph! Photogenic packaging isn't an issue for the average consumer, but let me tell you, I was cursing in my photo set-up trying to get decent shots. In this heat, with those photo lights, it wasn't pretty. Other than the gold color, the can is practically identical to the Original version I reviewed earlier this week. It's simple and classic, but modern. It looks very different from the rest of Pepsi's offerings and I like it quite a bit. I popped the can open and it smelled very ginger-heavy, but sweet. It instantly reminded me of Pepperidge Farm's Gingerman cookies. (Which are the only Pepperidge product I truly love.) I took a sip, and this is like drinking a gingerbread cookie! It's not bold and spicy like other ginger colas (like Fentiman's), this is more of a sweet and vanilla'd spice flavor, similar to ginger baked goods. It has the same refreshing aftertaste as the original cola, which I really like, but in the end, I really didn't care for this drink. When I buy ginger beverages I want that deliciously spicy burn, and this just doesn't have that. It's pleasant enough, but it just isn't for me. If you ever craved a sweet gingerbread flavored soda, then look no further. This would a great Jones-esque seasonal offering, but for a year-round ginger beverage, it falls a little flat. (Then again I like the intense spicy ginger beers and sodas.) © Maria Smith http://poison-and-antidote.net Like Sometimes Foodie's Facebook page to keep up with all my foodie adventures!

This " Josef Albers in Mexico " lithograph print large hardcover Modernism exhibition art book is a very special and unique book to add to your library collection. The hardcover book with magenta raspberry pink linen covered boards, and embossed cover and spine titles is published by Guggenheim Museum Publications, printed in Italy by Conti in 2022, in conjunction with the " Josef Albers in Mexico " exhibition at The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York. It features a monograph survey collection of the artworks of Josef Albers, with accompanied compelling text authored by museum curator Lauren Hinkson. All works copyright The Josef and Anni Albers Foundation. Josef Albers ( 1888 - 1976 ) was a German born artist and educator whose work, both in Europe and The United States formed the basis of Modern Art education programs of The 20th Century. Albers was a student at The Bauhaus in 1920, later being invited by the founder Walter Gropius to become an educator at the school. There his students included established artists Wassily Kandinsky and Paul Klee. In the 1930's Albers emigrated to The United States where he would become the head of the new art school Black Mountain College, and later in the 1950's he became the head of the department of design at Yale University. His students in American included Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, Richard Anuszkiewicz, and Eva Hesse among others. Accomplished as a designer, photographer, typographer, printmaker, and poet, Albers is best remembered for his work as an Abstract painter and an invaluable contributor as an art theorist of color theory. He is considered to be one of the most influential visual artists of The Twentieth Century. Artworks by Albers are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums. Albers's many visits to Latin America had a profound impact on his art and theoretical writings. The exhibition " Josef Albers in Mexico " reveals the complex and often surprising roles of place, time, and spirituality in Albers's body of work. His encounters with Pre-Columbian monuments sparked a creative outpouring, reinvigorating his paintings and stimulating new experiments in photography that until this exhibition has rarely been seen. The spirit and vision of Albers is never more present than in this special exhibition volume. The large format hardcover Modernism exhibition art book measures 9 5/8" W X 13" H X 3/4" D, with 160 pages. It features 111 offset lithograph print illustrations, including 42 in full-color.
