Don't you love quilt retreats? I I do know that I do not get to go on enough of them. This past weekend one of the gals in my office went on her bi-annual retreat with the same group that she has been retreating with for over 25 years. She brought this Quilt Acronym game
Hi all! A member of my quilt guild was asking a few questions about metallic threads, and since I love them, I thought I would give a few tips here... First of all, there are two main kinds of metallic threads. I like to call them "ribbon" metallics (these look like mini Christmas ribbons
When I started to quilt I noticed the lovely edges of my fabric. I couldn't just throw them away! So I started to collect them, I get them from my friends too. So my stash is growing! Time to make something for 2 of my friends who celebrated their birthday last week. I started with a big piece of old denim and sewed selvages in diagonal rows (yes, I used my sewing machine for this!). Then I cut them in the size I needed for the bookmarks (5 x 18 cm, about 2 x 7 inch). I used a piece of felt on the back and sewed them together with a looped edging stitch by hand. I attached some beads to the bottom to decorate it. The cute dice-beads where a gift from Lucy.
I love (to look at ) quilts. I do not possess patience or preciseness that is involved in the making. But that did not stop me from putting together a roundup of all the pretty

Wheee! The beekeeper’s quilt! ♥ Made of little stuffed honeycomb shaped puffy pockets. We call ‘em HEXIPUFFS! ♥ Use leftover scrap sock wool & it doesn’t have to be lined because it’s puffy & double sided! The hexipuffs are fun to make because they’re smushy, cute & feel like a little finished project all by themselves. wheeee I love tossing them in the basket! Oh yes, and they are knitted in the round ♥ I made a video blog with more info about them here: http://vimeo.com/26832987 This project is most rewarding if you knit it “on the go.” It’s so portable! I had a little bag with me in my purse at all times.(and in the car too!) All of my hexipuffs were made during “in-between” times over the span of one year. It’s really fun to add your new little hexipuff to the honeycomb basket. Knit them while you are waiting in lines, waiting for dinner, talking to friends, in the car etc. and see how many you end up with. :) Pattern includes: lots of photos, photo tutorial on the quick, easy way to join the hexipuffs, full color charts for duplicate stitch flowers.(poppies ~shown~ & violets) ps. joining them is QUICK & EASY! i joined my whole quilt together in 2 days. :) (full photo tutorial in the pattern) ♥ They are joined at the corners with simple quilt-ties for better “flop-a-bility” (Also: Because of the way they are connected, if one gets damaged or stained, they can be lifted out easily 1 at a time to be replaced :) join the KAL (knit-a-long) buzzing along here!

I love the look of checkers, squares, and quilts, but I don't love seaming them together. There, I said it. Ha! This 'Knit Seamless Quilt' blanket features beautiful squares, but none of the seaming. Hooray! See the full, free pattern below, or you may choose to purchase the ad-free printable version from Etsy HERE, or

Pastel Shades Today I reopened my Etsy shop and decided to sell some of my inchies. I enjoy the process of making inchies. I enjoy seeing a set come together and find new ways and new ideas to embellish them with each set I create unique. Pink & Red There are so many ways to use inchies, in bigger pieces of art, embellishing journals, bags, purses, iphone and ipad cases, jewellery making, quilts.......these are just a few, I'm sure there are many more. I'm selling them unframed to keep costs down and allow you the choice of how to use them. I will however be sending them out mounted on card, ready to be framed. The set of 16 fits nicely into a square frame available from IKEA. I have shown pictures of each set on the listings in the black and the white frames. These two sets are now up for sale and I'm hoping to get more up for sale soon. ******* Update : Pastel inchies set now SOLD but photographic prints are now available of my inchie sets in my ETSY shop. ******
A pleasing scallop stripe in a lovely rust and dusky lilac combination. With a chalky pink stitch and an indigo ticking stripe on the reverse. All our quilts are fully reversible. We love how versatile these kantha quilts are, use them as a playmat and for tummy time, in the nursery or on beds as well as snuggling up together. They are also easily packed up to take on the go. These quilts are block printed by hand on super soft organic cotton voile before being hand stitched and quilted using the traditional kantha technique by skilful artisans in Jaipur, India. 120cm x 120cm 100% organic cotton voile & 100% cotton filling We recommend spot cleaning with a damp sponge where possible and cold machine washing separately on a delicate setting when needed with minimal detergent. Due to the nature of this product being a handmade item there may be variation in colour and pattern between items. These are not faults but the characteristics of hand printed & hand stitched products.
Hi Everyone, I had so many lovely comments about the blocks I made last weekend that I thought I would write a little tutorial for you. I have to admit am I kind of in love with them myself. Some peop
I love vintage linens. I have an obsession with them I think. These are just a few I've collected over the years. Once upon a time they would sit neatly inside this plastic tub, but now they spill over and find themselves stored in all sorts of hidden nooks and crannies... I enjoy finding uses for them. Some have been been revived in baby quilts made for friends. Both the blue and the yellow quilts below were made in 2008 so I only have a few photos and they're not the best - however you can see the use of vintage linens among the patchwork, applique and embroidery.... The quilt below is one I made last year but it's been hidden away by Blossom for 'one day'. She's not letting me give it away to anyone but her... It's quite nourishing and comforting to the soul when using aged linens by unknown hands to create something new - to know that their handwork is once again 'on display'. It carries forward a gentle promotion of their skills, often times with appreciation and awe! A few years back I shared THIS tutorial for making little journal covers and soap sachets from embroidered linens. They are so easy and perfect for gift giving at this time of the year... As I gently folded a small pile of white doilies the other day I thought how lovely it would be to use one as the background for a new design which will feature in December's Stitchery Club set. Isn't it sweet with the blue floral 30's fabric? The new design has been traced onto the centre of my pretty doily, and the threads are waiting for me to bring this project to life. A stitchy theme seemed 'just right'... I thought you may like some more ideas for using vintage linens? Here are some that made my jaw drop they are so beautiful! From TODOLWEN...
