Meet the Cosmos kit! These vivid pink, daisy-like flowers have been known to symbolize balance and harmony for their crisp, even petals, but also ‘joy in love and life’ in the Victorian era! Flowering in gardens across the world for many months of the year, these striking blooms attract bees, butterflies and birds to the garden. A combination of Liberty London fabrics, vintage patterned pink/white fabrics are combined with plenty of specialty pieces to add texture and detail to your piece, like hand dyed sari silk, cheese cloth and vintage lace. The kit includes a lush, creamy linen coloured background to work on and all the threads and fabrics needed to complete these bright, cheery flowers. You supply sharp scissors, a marking pen, and a glue stick or fabric glue. Each Wattle&Loop Slow-Stitching Kit combines a carefully curated selection of beautiful vintage and reclaimed textiles, along with some Liberty of London fabric, DMC cotton threads & an embroidery needle. By combining the beautiful textile pieces with slow-stitching & appliqué you can make a truly beautiful textile collage of your own that is completely unique -- while they are similar, no two kits contain exactly the same pieces of fabric! Beginners will be able to manage this kit with some patience and an interest in learning some new stitches and techniques. You can simply learn as you go. Depending on your level of experience, each kit takes between 5-12 hours to complete.
I did get a third row of this quilt put together last night, and I'm hoping to finish the final 2 rows later today. Then I will show it again in my blog. But I wanted to answer some questions I've gotten about these blocks. It's important for everyone to remember - if you ask a question then you should have a way for us to respond. If your profile is set at "no reply" and don't include an email address it makes it difficult to make sure you see the answer to your question. Anyway - these blocks are ALL Lori Holt blocks. And they are all from either her newest book Farm Girl Vintage 2 or a recent book called Spelling Bee. I love her blocks. Her patterns are always easy to follow even if they have small/tiny pieces because she includes lots of pictures. And all of her blocks have 2 sizes - 6" and 12" finished. So the cats in this quilt are all 12" blocks. And the rest of the blocks (flowers, bees, bird, beehive) are all 6" which makes it so easy to mix them into a common project. In the past I made all of the blocks from Farm Girl Vintage 1, plus many of the ones she sold as separate downloads. The cat block is an example of a download, but now it's in the new book. My quilt made from all 6" blocks was completed in 2017, but I do have the whole set of 12" done and just waiting for inspiration on how to use them.
The Quilting Bee wall hanging. PDF downloadable quilt pattern “The Quilting Bee’s” name is taken from the busy honey bee. A quilting bee was held for the purpose of hand quilting a finished quilt top. Women of all ages vied to be asked to participate rather than being relegated to the kitchen to make lunch. Heaven forbid you should miss the fun of gossiping and exchanging secret matters of the heart. Underneath the quilt top and chatter the little girls would play with their dolls. Chirp Chirp Tweet Tweet did you hear the latest news from Riley Blake Designs? Riley Blake Designs along with (21) of their designers are celebrating the launch of their first LOW VOLUME designer fabric collection called Hush Hush! What is a LOW VOLUME designer collection you ask? Great question! Its a compilation of individual fabric designs from (21) different RBD designers on a white or cream ground giving a quilt's background variety and movement! OR The LOW-VOLUME prints can be used for pieced blocks on a dark ground. WOW! That would be stunning! Can you visualize what it would look like? The above are the LOW-VOLUME prints found in the (21) piece Hush Hush collection! Any guesses which print is mine? Its in there. Just need to look a little closer to the center top! Do you see it? If you guessed this print (above), you are correct! Curious about all the birds you're seeing? Any of them look familiar to you? If you noticed any of the similarities, you may have guessed the Riley Blake Designs LOGO and you would be correct! What a fun way to announce a new collection, Hush Hush, from many of the contributing Riley Blake Designers with the Riley Blake Designs LOGO! AND What better way to celebrate the launch of Hush Hush than to offer you FREE patterns of (3) different bird styles! Pieced (above) and FREE pattern here! Paper Pieced (above) and FREE pattern here! and Applique! (above) and the FREE pattern here! Riley Blake Designs covered ALL the bases with (3) different ways to create your own RBD Bird Block. What is your favorite method? As I reveal a bit more of the birds and blocks, are you noticing anything else that looks familiar? Any guesses yet? If you guessed the Riley Blake Designs Block Challenge you would be absolutely correct! If you're new to my blog, you can get up to full speed here and here and here and learn all about the RBD Block Challenge that occurred earlier this year. Continue to follow the (older) blog posts for the rest of the RBD Block Challenge blocks and their back stories. Ready to see how the birds and blocks came together? How fun is that!!!! You know the saying "Birds of a Feather Flock Together?" Well I have some pretty amazing birds (quilting friends) that flocked around me to create this very special quilt! Diane Merritt @storyofaquiltdesigns who I've written about here and here, created the INDIVIDUAL personalities of ALL the birds. Personalities? What? Look closely. EACH bird is different beyond their fabric colors. Diane created dimensional folded triangles for MOST of the birds to give them their own unique personality? Look closely at their tail and wing feathers, head dresses, party hats . . . see it now? In addition to creating and sewing each of the birds, Diane ALSO designed the quilt's layout and sewed it all together using Hush Hush! Lisa Garber @thecurvyquilter, who I introduced to you here and here and here stepped in (without asking) and sewed (7) of the RBD Challenge Blocks while I was battling Covid earlier this year. And NO quilt is finished until its quilted by my #1 Go-To Long Arm Quilter, Penny Barnes @pbandjquiltstudio!! Look closely at the lower right corner. Do you see it? How's that for a close up look? Yep, Penny quilted Tweet Tweet around the corners of the quilt paying homage to all the unique birds Diane created! Diane, Lisa and Penny, the Hush Hush Tweet Tweet quilt could NOT have happened without your incredible and gifted talents! Thank you for being a part of my flock! Have you ever worked/played with LOW VOLUME prints? Want to give it a try? We have Hush Hush 5" and 10" Stackers here and here as well as Hush Hush Rolie Polies here! And if you're interested in my Hush Hush Stem Print, you can purchase yardage here! Until next week, happy Hush Hush Tweet Tweet Quilting! Gerri PS: In case you're unsure, ALL the fabrics used (other than Hush Hush for the background) are Gem Stone Brights! You can purchase Gem Stone Brights here too!
This new Butterfly pattern, "Caroline" is now available. This Crab pattern, "Jimmy" has been very popular. We have had many requests to do this same technique with different objects. Somehow we got busy with other things and that idea got put on a back burner. Then, a teacher that my daughter, Faith, is very close with got pregnant with her first child. Faith wanted us to make her a quilt. When they found out it was a girl they decided to do the nursery in purple with butterflies. Immediately my daughter knew what she wanted to make. Faith came up with the butterfly outline and chose all of the fabric. I enlarged the pattern on the computer. Faith traced the pattern onto the fabric. I stitched the outline. Faith cut and glued the fabric onto the butterfly. I quilted it and put the binding on. It truly was a joint effort. The teacher was holding out on the baby's name until her birth. She did let Faith in on a little secret that "Faith" was one of the top two names. Faith ended up being the baby's middle name. The baby's name is Caroline Faith. Therefore the name of this pattern. While Faith was making her gift I was making one for a shop sample.

Welcome to the Let's Bee Social! That was the fastest week of my life! Hope you all enjoyed the long Easter weekend. I did! Baby Chicks This week I am busy with Trunks Shows and Workshops. My Spelling Bee book arrived and although the sew-along won’t start until October I couldn’t help myself. So much fun in a spiral bound book. I am making the Picture Day Quilt (page 158 of the book) which uses 20 pictures blocks. I am using 6" blocks and have made three to date...... Block 1 – Apple Block. Very quick, very simple – a perfect start to this project. Spelling Bee Apple Block Block 2 – Bee Block. Love this block and it went together quite well except for the head. I think the H squares that you sew onto the head are too big – they result in a pointy face for this bee – not at all like the book. So I cut those the background H squares to 7/8” square. It worked well. (I kept the H blocks as per the size in the book for the top of the wing.) Spelling Bee Bee Block Block 3 – Bird Block. Another easy and very well written block pattern. The head looks a bit strange but it will flatten when it is stitched in with the other blocks. Spelling Bee Bird Block I am trying to make a block a day so do come back and check at the weekend to see how its going. Until then .....................

One of my dearest friends approached me a few weeks ago to ask whether I could help her customise one of my patterns. Her work colleague was injured in the Manchester Arena bombing and she wanted to raise funds for him by making a special quilt to raffle. The block she wanted to include was a Bee. The industrious Worker Bee has been a symbol of the city of Manchester since the C19th and, since the terrorist attack, has been adopted as an emblem of unity, strength and positivity. In that spirit,

In this email you will have a unique URL link to click on which will lead you back to our website and the following screen: Click on the words "Download Now" so that a little window pops up for you to select whether you want to open it as a PDF or save it to your computer. Be patient with your first attempt - the file is large, so it may take a few moments to load the PDF depending on your ISP connection speed. Once the window pops up you can select either option of whether to "Open" or "Save". If saving it, just be sure to make a note of where you are saving it on your computer so you can retrieve it later. If you click on your download link and a web browser appears but only presents you with a white screen or downloading doesn't appear to take place, most likely there is an incompatibility between the web browser you are using, your system software, and the way our website serves files. First try switching to a different web browser. (For example, if you are using Internet Explorer, try starting the download with Firefox instead. We have found that Firefox works very well!)However, if switching browsers does not work for you, try downloading it from your laptop or desktop computer rather than an iPad or mobile device. This usually solves the issue as the iPad tends to hide downloaded files in odd places and requires a reader app to open it (Adobe Reader App or Kindle App are free). If all else fails, you can forward your email link to a friend or local copy center business to have them download and print it for you. Digital Policy Details This digital product policy is designed to help you understand our commitment to you but also remind you of your responsibilities when you purchase digital products from The Featherweight Shop. If you have a registered account with our website, then your order history is provided once you login to your account. You can then download any digital product or pattern purchases at any time in the future using your order history. Due to the nature of digital products, saving to computers, etc., refunds cannot be issued. If you would like a hard copy of this pattern, then please feel free to forward the digital file that is emailed to you to a family member, friend or your local copy center for printing. If you do not have a registered account, then please know that it is your responsibility to promptly download and save the file you purchased to your computer. Once you have downloaded and saved your item, safeguarding it is up to you. Be sure to back up your files, because it is not a matter of "if", but "when" your files will be lost. Carbonite, Backblaze or other backup file system is highly recommended. You set it up and never have to worry again. However, if you ever need to recover your lost files, these backup programs are a life saver!
