I've been working on Christmas gifts. I originally wanted to make quilts this year but as time kept slipping by I knew it wouldn't be manageable. ....so as I was longarming one day and my thoughts were going everywhere, I had a light bulb moment! Why not give quilts I all ready have! I was completely ecstatic about this and knew I could manage it. A couple of the quilts needed and need to be finished up but they were and are close to being done. My friend found this antique quilt at a real estate sale and gave it to me knowing I would know what to do with it. It really is a treasure! All hand quilted with looks like feed sack material. The border was tattered and there wasn't any binding on it. I cut the border off and added the binding yesterday. I then washed it, it looked like it had never been washed and it washed up beautifully! I find it so neat that even though this is a traditional antique quilt it has a modern look to it because of the solid blue and white fabric! Even the prints have a modern feel to it. Unfortunately there was no information on the back of the quilt as to who pieced and quilted it, but WOW...the talent! Look at the beautiful hand quilted stitches and all those Y-seams! WOW!! I was able to match the blue perfectly for the binding. I love antique quilts and wouldn't give this to anyone other than someone very special in my life, I hope she likes it! This is one of 5 quilts gifted out and I hope their new homes enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed them. ~Jenny~

I couldn't wait to share these pictures with you! Sharon's quilt turned out sooo amazing! Did I mention before how I love the texture on this quilt! The colors and fabrics are so much fun! I used double warm and white batting and medium gray thread through out the whole quilt. Ty likes it too! I'm going to put together a little video this weekend on how I quilted this quilt using some arc rulers, thanks for your interest in that!! It's safe to say we and many other quilters have fallen in love with one of our newest patterns, Chic Country! We have made several ourselves!We (Jenny, Helen and Sherilyn) have each made a Chic Country baby quilt for some special babies in our lives.We perused IG and found so many awesome Chic Country creations!! This beauty was created by @rosecityquilter We love how she made the circles spin...

Checker, one of our distributors offers inexpensive patterns called "Cut Loose Press" at the Quilt Shops. We made a few easy and fun CLP patterns for them. This one is called "Dancing Churndash". Super easy and fun to put together! I had a lot of fun quilt it also. I thought the straight lines looked great in the blocks and the fun swirl gave movement around the dancing churndash! The next pattern is called "Dot to Dot". This pattern is a super easy one to put together too! Looks harder than it really is. Love the straight line quilting on it...I think it was perfect for it. The last pattern is called "Two Step Topper". Love the simplicity of this topper! Helen pieced and quilted this one and I love the colors and the quilting!! The patterns will be available in May. I'm having fun quilting on this new QCR design. We've decided to call it "Metro Twist"! I had this top all loaded and was going to do some straight line quilting and changed my mind last minute. I ended up taking it off the frame, reloading it to go the other direction so I could do some custom quilting on it. Love how it's turning out! I'm going pretty bold on the two different threads I'm using. The quilt is so bright that the thread looks great on it! I wanted to do some different feathers and instead of making them rounded on the tips I'm making the tips rectangular. These are super fun and simple. As you can see there is no center vine. I mark a vine with my chalk pencil first and then quilt one petal to the next going from left to right to left to right and up the chalk marked vine. The blue thread is a variegated King Tut thread and it looks beautiful on the navy background fabric! It's been a while since I used a variegated thread. This pattern is a layer cake friendly!! How cool is that! Just one layer cake and your background fabric is all you will need. ~Sew Kind of Wonderful~

My daughter Brooke thinks I'm spoiling this new baby to come because I made some burp cloths for him. I reminded her that when she was a baby I didn't have all the right tools to make blankets and burp cloths so quickly....she didn't buy that answer! I whipped these up yesterday! I loaded the (pre-washed) gray flannel on to my longarm machine. I had bought and pre-washed some diaper cloth, folded it in half and layed it on the flannel. I stitched around the edges to make it nice and rectangular and then cut off the excess..uneven edges. I then stitched some horizontal lines and was able to do up 9 of them for the amount of flannel I had. I allowed enough room between each cloth so when I removed them from my machine and using my wavy rotary blade I cut 1/2 inch outside of each cloth. Ironed that over to the top and stitched it down with my sewing machine. Easy and took about an hour and half from start to finish. This could easily be done on a sit down sewing machine too. Lucky me, I received a Ticker Tape Baby Blanket from my good friend Pam the other day! Pam has such a talent with making anything "ticker tape" like! Isn't this quilt darling! It's fun looking at each little piece of fabric! She also loves to write words in her quilts...you can see the word "kiss", this is one of many words throughout the quilt. She put that really soft baby flannel on the back, I washed it yesterday and just love how soft and fun this quilt is! Thanks Pam! I'm so lucky to have such great friends! Pam is one of many who helped me start my longarm quilting journey 6 years ago and she will always be an inspiration to me in so many ways! ~Jenny~

Place QCR on top of block as show above with the top and bottom corners sitting under the 4 1/4" marks on edge of ruler (sample in yellow circles). Make your cut. Repeat this for all 4 blocks. Take the 8" x 8" white fabric squares and cut them in half. Stack all 4 triangles. Place the QCR on top of stack with the 2 3/4" mark sitting on left side of fabric stack and 3" and 9" marks are centered on top and bottom edges (sample in yellow circles). Make your cut. Iron stack in half to create a center mark. Pin center of curved pieced to center of log cabin block. Using a marking pen, mark a 1/4 inch in from each curved corner (sample in yellow circles). Sewing curved pieces: Keep the center pinned. For top curved piece, ease the left side from pinned center around, following the bottom curved piece to find your starting point. You want to start sewing on the pen mark. The pen mark should be at the intersection for the top and bottom pieces. As you start to sew, follow the right edge of top white fabric. Sample to left in yellow circle. Sample of the back. Another sample of the back. Repeat this for all 4 blocks. Press. Square up block to an 8 1/2" x 8 1/2" square, only cutting off the top and right sides as shown above. Repeat this for all 4 blocks. Assemble blocks as shown above. You will end up with a 16 1/2" x 16 1/2" Log Cabin block, the "curve it up" way!

I've had a quilt on my machine for a while now. I finally finished last night. It took me about 25 hours to quilt up, although it feels like it took a lot longer. I know pretty lame...I'm really not one to just show a couple of peeks but for this one I have to. I really do love how it turned out! Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! We were fortunate to have snow last week and my kids loved playing in it and Ty loved looking at them through the front window. Now to load another quilt. Our Chic Country pattern continues to be one of our most popular patterns, for good reason! It's amazing!! :) We've taken a wonderful traditional design and simplified it using the Quick Curve Ruler!! Many quilters have had a lot of success and satisfaction with our Chic Country pattern and the quilts they've been able to make using our pattern are breathtaking! Some of our customers have had questions about a few steps in the pattern and in particular the "square up" step. Here is a picture tutorial of a few steps in this pattern, including the square up. These first few pictures show the process of sewing on the background pieces and directional pressing for one block. Right sides together, sew on first background piece. Begin with the ends meeting, as shown... Press towards focus fabric Right sides together, sew on second background piece, begin with top piece down about an inch. Press towards the background piece that was just sewn on. Right sides together, sew on third background piece, beginning down about a 1/4 inch. Press towards third background piece that was just sew on. Your block should resemble this. Place 3 small dots on your Quick Curve ruler with a sharpie marker (these marks can be easily removed with rubbing alcohol). These dots will help when squaring up blocks. Be sure your ruler is face up with the "1's" in the upper right hand corner. Place the first dot down and in a 1/4 inch. From the upper right hand corner count over 4 3/4 inches and down 1 3/4 inch and mark your ruler with another small sharpie marker dot. From the upper right hand corner count down 4 3/4 inches and in 1 3/4 inch, make another sharpie marker dot. Place your block under your ruler (as shown in the picture below) with the three points of your "petal" shape sitting under the sharpie marker dots that were previously placed on ruler. Line "petal" points up under the dots as close as possible. Some of your blocks will sit under the dots almost perfectly. However, some if not most of your blocks, the points will be off just a smidgen or more. Don't let this concern you. Just get the points as close as possible under those dots then square your blocks to 5" x 5". Press all seams open. Four 5x5 blocks sewn together should resemble this flower shaped block. Do not let points that do not match up perfectly, concern you! In the end, all the blocks will come together beautifully and the inconsistent points will not matter or take away from the finished quilt. As you can see in one of our Chic Country quilts, some of the points match up perfectly and others do not. However, the overall finished quilt is gorgeous and the inconsistencies are not noticed! The mesmerizing and beautiful interconnecting circles are definitely the signature look of this traditional design!! Everyone, including us, loves it! Each Chic Country Quilt is breathtaking! We have taken a relatively difficult and time consuming traditional pattern and simplified it using the Quick Curve Ruler! What used to take quilters months if not years to complete, quilters are putting our Chic Country quilts together in days! :) We hope these Chic Country tips have helped! Now I know I'm really confused! ;o) I got great advice (spelled right this time) though and am leaning towards doing up two patterns. Again thanks so much for the advice, I wish I could thank each of you individually right now but my computer decided to freeze up on me today and I'm currently at my husbands work using his computer. ;o( On a better note, I finished up this fun little Chevron Quilt for Lisa this morning! Love how this turned out! Lot's of ruler work, but being small it didn't take to long, a couple of hours. I used double warm and white batting, off white thread for the white area's and I matched the thread for the colored areas. ~Jenny~

One of my first quilts was a Log Cabin quilt. It's such a fun and easy block to put together and a really great way to use up your scraps. We, for sure wanted to add the Log Cabin block to our "curve it up" series and after lots trial and errors this is what I came up with. Believe it or not, my first testing block was all messed up. I completely did up all the log cabin blocks wrong. I think I've been doing to much curved piecing! ...and to give you an idea of what these would look like side by side, repeated: This is a computer mock up, isn't it fantastic! Love it! Fun Poinsettia's! Isn't this a super fun runner for the Holiday's! We've got a free tutorial to share with you on how to make this simple "Fun Poinsettia" block, using the Quick Curve Ruler.
