A lap size quilt for persons with Alzheimer's, Dementia, effects from a Stroke or Autism. This sensory blanket provides activities and textures to help calm restless hands. Finding this wonderful vest and fishing fabric gives someone who like to fidget or explore more to do than the usual fidget quilts I make. Perfect for a lap or tabletop. The vest is filled with trinkets in each pocket that are sewn to the quilt but have velcro or zipper closures. In the pockets you will find keys, hex nuts to manipulate, wooden wheels to roll, beads strung to enjoy color and movement and a wooden 5" fish to hold on to on string. On the other side of the blanket is a square of silky minky fabric with three wooden beads on string that hang and swing to tinker with. A shoelace to tie. A minke fabric bag to squeeze and rub, that has a few marbles in the stuffing to manipulate inside the sewn shut bag. Plastic circles slide back and forth. Wooden balls slide on shoe laces like a teeter totter, pull longer and shorter. Colorful shapes twirl and slide on shoelace. A heavy belt clip to open and close. Plastic plumbing parts that screw together and unscrew keep your loved one very busy. All this and a backing of soft fleece for warmth and to cut down on slippage from a lap. Each quilt has four layers. A sandwich of the bottom cotton fabric, a layer of poly batting, and then the top decorative fabric. The fourth layer is the fleece backing, put on after all the decorations and activities are attached, leaving a clean, soft, less slippery and comfortable backing for your loved one's lap. To clean, either spot clean or machine wash, cold water in a pillow case that is closed securely on a gentle cycle. Lay flat to dry. Made in a pet free and smoke free home. Items on this quilt are attached securely but not intended for young children or anyone needing supervision from possibly chocking.

First, in honor of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this weekend I finally pieced all my Union Jack blocks together. Three cheers for that. Now it’s off at the quilters. My goal is to have it done and bound before the Olympics start in July. So cheerio, pip pip, and all that.
