Hi! It's me again! Sorry for the absence lately. I've been under the weather, fighting a cold. Been trying to get back my voice but with my line of work, a days rest may cost me. But hey, I have to think about my health too, right. So I started feeling better and getting my groove going..hihi. Here are cute petal cone cards I've been wanting to make. I've seen so many use of the BigShot Petal Cone die #121810 (2011 OMC). I've seen hearts, carrots for Easter and alot of ice cream cones. And my best bet are these Ice Cream cone cards. Perfect for a birthday or a thank you note! Inside these cone cards, I've ran through another piece with Very Vanilla CS so it may be inserted inside the card. Then punched out a 1" Circle Glimmer Red Paper #121790 (love this accent paper) as the cherry on top. Take note that I had to put a pearl embellishment inside the card so it may not easily slide off the card when tilted. You can position it at a couple of inches above the bottom tip of the cone. MAKING A BIG ROSSETTE: Use the XL 2-1/2" Circle punch to punch out a piece of BigShot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets #120805 (the best adhesive paper out there, you may use it in any project that needs double sided glue). Then cut 1 yard of your Chocolate Chip Brown Satin Ribbon. Twist your ribbon from the center onto the Multipurpose Adhesive which was peeled off on one side first. Continue to twist and roll until it looks like a Cinnabon Bun..hehe. (a Cinnamon Bun) You may have to trim some of the adhesive paper at the end. Press your bun firmly onto the adhesive paper. Then you're ready to peel off the paper backing of your bun and stick onto your cone! Yummmm! TIP: I used dimensionals to tuck in the ribbon end. MAKING THE CRIMPED RIBBON: My mom calls it as the SMOCKING technique. In her early years, she would sew our clothes rather than buying them. She loved to sew dresses, home decors and embroider them. She knew what it was called when she saw my card..hihi. But I did mine the easy way, GLUE GUN is my magic sewing machine. Cut 8" of Chocolate Chip Brown Satin ribbon then apply glue 2 inches at a time and "SMOCK" the ribbon up to the other side of the card. It looked like Chocolate shavings on a cake..mmmmm. You can also see that I used the long tag from the Petal Cone die and folded it to wrap around the cone. Ain't it gorgeous! I luv it! Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions. Please visit my blog and my Stampin Up Website! Have a nice day!

Here's how I made my graduation cap for the card I made yesterday. First start with a 1" strip of Basic Black card stock. Lay one point on the gutter of the paper trimmer, and the other end lined up with the 3/4" mark on the right side of the gutter. Then cut! Next flip the piece over, and line up the angle you just cut on the 1" line on the left of the gutter. And cut. That creates the mortarboard piece - a perfect parallelogram! Then punch a 1-3/8" square using your punch and another scrap piece. Stick the punched square onto the edge of a post-it note (easier to handle this way!). Use your 1-3/4" x 7/8" oval punch and place the bottom right part of the square in and punch. I eyed this part, but I did place just a little more than half of the bottom right part in. And punch! Then I placed the bottom left part of the square back into the punch and punched off that side. Again I just eyed it. Maybe I just got lucky, but it centered pretty easily. I made three of them so far - and I guess I eyed them pretty well?! If it doesn't come out very centered the first time though, try again on the same piece. You'll still have plenty of space up top to stick to the mortarboard piece. Then here it is all stuck together! Tah dah!! Thanks for stopping by, Julie B

This is the swap I did for Monday's weSTAMP Team Meeting Swap. I was so excited about this one I actually had it done 2 weeks ago! That was good, but it made me crazy not being able to share it. ha ha! Also, after looking a some real giraffe's, I realized his ears really should be more down on the side and floppy, but I like how mine turned out. Besides, I wasn't going to rip off those ears and start again! Below is my recipe for you to make your own Giraffe. To make the hole and the ring around the hole, I used the Circles Collection Framelits (130911). Closer picture for ease of seeing. Thank you for looking in! I hope that you all had a great Christmas and New Years! My family and I spent midnight down in Williamstown, VIC looking out over the bay at the amazing fireworks display! Just incredible. Now that 2013 has ended I thought it fitting to just look back on the past 12 months... 2013 was a great year in the Studio. I met so many crafters, made some excellent contacts, friends and overall I have had fun creating new & unique projects for my followers to get inspired from. With so many cool projects to share with you, this post is all about sharing some never seen before projects, to make way for all of my new 2014 projects. Here goes.. please feel free to leave me a comment, I appreciate all your beautiful feedback, it really makes my day! Winter Frost Engagement Card I have used the gorgeous Vintage Faceted Buttons to create a diamond for this engagement card. Happy Birthday Flower Shop I love the way the 'doors' open up on this 3 fold card. I have used the very pretty Flower Shop 130939 (Clear) 130942 (Wood) Stamp set and matching Pansy punch to create a focal piece. Love the Rainbow look here! Frozen Yoghurt Anyone?? Taking Punch Art to another level! Looks so good I could eat it! Wedding Money Cards - Oooooh PrettyWith so many beautiful DSP's to choose from, these cards come together easier with SU coordinating DSP packs. These money cards are very popular amongst my customers that love to give money as gifts. Floral Invites Single cut outs in Island Indigo cardstock using the Floral Framelits set make a great card base for these invitations. To finish them off I cut x2 Vanilla pieces, one decorated for the front and one for the back with all the invite details. I've discovered WATERCOLOURING... How is it, I only recently starting watercolouring??? I must have thought that it was a very difficult skill to learn - but I couldn't have been more wrong! I watercoloured these with my Stampin' Write markers, so quick and easy! Quick 2 Minute Cards I made these cute 4x4" cards for some work mates recently who were off on a BIG European Holiday. A perfect design for a quick card, just punch out a shape from the DSP, layer enough Whisper White to cover the hole and stamp a greeting! I was on a roll! For Baby Although this Stamp Set is now retired, I could not resist from using it in this card. That pram is too cute!. Pansy 30th Birthday I LOVE this card! A simple design, but those pansy flowers are so gorgeous, especially watercoloured (my new fav thing!) DSP is from Quatrefancy Specialty. Kendo Martial Art Master When I was asked to make a Kendo inspired card - my first thought was .. Umm Stampin' Up! dont have any martial art stamps do they? But with an outline from a Google search - viola - anything is possible! My favourite piece are those cute blossoms, finished off with some vanilla Candy Dots, pg 171 of the Annual Catalogue. Little blossom punch outs are from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack pg 180 Annual Catalogue Male Hexagon Card Male cards can be soooo difficult, but not with the new Hexagon Stamp set and matching punch! It totally fits the bill for me and males cards. I trimmed the outline off of the stamped hexagons and layered them onto a Hexagon Punch out, it gives it a slight boarder. The Photo card I'm always looking for new ways to present a card and so I designed this Photocard front. You will only need to trim a litte off of a standard 4x6" photo. The label on the right uses the new Chalk Talk Framelits set - use with the Big Shot. Using any of the large Big Shot Framelits can create a great Photo space on any project. Thanks for joining me today, hope you enjoyed all my projects from last year. Stay tuned for more in 2014, starting with a Black & White themed Blog Hop from the Crazy Crafters this coming Sunday 5th January. Until then, take care

Edit: Video added I am often asked about my paper cuts, many of you would like to know how I go about doing them. I begin with a piece of paper that measures 12" x 12" which is then folded......there are several sites that show how to create paper snowflakes, you can see the folding steps here Fold (you will notice in the following photos that the excess at the top gets cut away) I then draw the image I want to repeat. It will need to fit onto one section of the folded paper I unfold the paper and using a light box, transfer the image onto one section, then refold. I use a set of mirrors to see exactly what I will get once I have finished cutting The tools I use Staples hold the layers tightly together, punched holes allow for easier maneuvering of the scissors. Now, I am ready to make those cuts, small sharp scissors are an absolute must! More cuts are made...... notice that I am cutting so that I always have something solid to hold on to. I am showing you lots of photos so you can see that I "plan" each cut Cutting is complete Carefully unfold. It is delicate and must be handled gently Once I have it unfolded, I use a dry iron to press it flat. This one has 12 sections and is made up of birds and bees. Whatever you choose to draw, you need to be sure that everything is "connected" otherwise it will all just fall apart. Here is a video of the whole process Below is a sampling of some other themed papercuts I have created using this same method. Even though I had been designing this way, it had not occurred to me to cut snowflakes until I had taken a workshop conducted by Kathy K Wylie.....she takes "snowflakes"to a whole other level. If you seriously wish to create your own unique snowflakes and want to learn how to translate them into fabric, I suggest you get yourself a copy of Kathy K Wylie's book, Sewflakes

This is really so simple I probably didn't need to do a tutorial for you but just in case here it is! If you have any questions you can email me [email protected] You will need a scrap of paper & Stampin Up's Round Tab Punch. For my designer paper I used the Sale-a-Bration Welcome Neighbor paper pack. Insert the paper as shown & punch 2 tabs next to each other. Depending on how close you punch them you can vary the size of your drink. Then use your paper cutter or scissors to cut straight across as shown. Cut out a straw from the scrap paper & there you have it p.s. Hold on to the tabs you punched I have another project you can use them on! Check back for that another day.
