Aunque ya lo sabemos, no está de más que de vez en cuando nos recuerden que la práctica de cualquier actividad física nos ofrece una serie de beneficios a nivel físico y psicológico, pues bien con el método Pilates pasa algo parecido, hemos escuchado en bastantes ocasiones que es bueno, pero me gustaría, aparte de recordártelo, especificar para qué. Este método nace a finales del siglo XX, su creador Joseph Hubertus Pilates lo basa en fortalecer y desarrollar la musculatura interna (estabilizadora) para mantener el equilibrio corporal y dar estabilidad y firmeza a la columna vertebral, luego los principales beneficios van a ser: - Mejora de la fuerza de la masa muscular estabilizadora. - Mejora de la estabilidad y el equilibrio. - Mejora a nivel columna vertebral Pero aparte de esto, que es lo más evidente, el método Pilates ofrece otra serie de mejoras en tu cuerpo, como te decía antes en el plano físico y en el psicológico: - Luce un cuerpo más tonificado: al trabajar la musculatura estabilizadora tu postura mejora, tu apariencia será más erguida, y como trabaja gran cantidad de músculos al mismo tiempo en los diferentes ejercicios, tus musculatura se tonificará como lo haría con cualquier otro trabajo específico. - Mejora tu descanso: primero por reducir el estrés y luego por el tipo de respiración que se usa e la clases, la respiración profunda, conseguimos un estado de mayor relajación, lo que ayuda también cuando vamos a descansar. - Conocimiento personal: de como mejora tu propio cuerpo, y como evolucionas a lo largo de las sesiones en cuanto a fuerza, flexibilidad y control corporal, no solo en la propia clase, sino también en las actividades cotidianas, sintiéndote más ágil y con más precisión en los movimientos cotidianos. - Mejora de tu confianza y seguridad en ti mismo: si sientes que tu cuerpo es más fuerte, y que tus movimientos son más seguros, precisos y controlados, sentirás también que puedes hacer cosas que antes no podías, pero además al verte con una mejor postura y más tono muscular, emocionalmente te vas a sentir mejor, te vas a gustar más, algo que se nota de cara a los demás. Aunque también quiero que quede claro que este es un método de entrenamiento en el que no se queman tantas calorías como cuando se hacen otros ejercicios, como correr o montar en bicicleta, por eso no es del todo adecuado para programas de pérdida de peso, ya que el consumo calórico no va a llegar a los mínimos requeridos para la reducción del porcentaje graso.
