I make beautiful art that’s meant to be picked up and used, art intended to bring method to your madness and soothe your soul. A labyrinth is a single path that mimics the feeling of getting lost without losing your way. Labyrinths are deliberately and artistically designed to short circuit the part of your brain that plans and worries. Have issues with control? Let go. Its one path, you will get there, you will get out again. Relax. Labyrinths distract the body so the mind is free to think. Labyrinths act like a mirror for your soul, a sacred space to set aside time to explore your life's journey. To ask questions of yourself, wander, to change your mind. Our society runs us ragged. If we don’t leave time to look at where we’re going in life, we may end up somewhere we didn’t mean to be… Use the labyrinth by starting at the edge and meandering towards the center, then back out again. Use the rhythm of the path to relax you, or use it as a meditation space to explore your journey. My Greek labyrinths are unique in that they feature an outside ring that brings your finger into the path in a smooth transition helping to engage that tactile sense of flying through the design as well as a center spiral to help poise you for the return journey. About the labyrinths: Each of my labyrinth designs are created from original art pieces. I work with wood, clay, wax, plaster and other materials depending on the complexity and intended use of the designs. Once the originals are ready, I meticulously create molds that capture the texture and feel of the originals. After weeks of drying time, test casts are performed looking for errors. Usually a design requires 2-3 mold trials before it comes out looking the way I was hoping it would. Once the mold is completed, casting can begin. I cast one day, trim the next and slowly dry the pieces over the next week. Once the pieces are dry, I bisque fire the castings and they are ready for glazing. I enjoy color and you'll find that my labyrinths come in a wide variety of finishes.
