Welcome! Today I have a sweet little pink number to share--a friendship card. I used Papertrey Ink's On My Couch set, combined with October Afternoon's Farmhouse paper (Her Bureau). I used PTI's Mat Stack 3 and Mega Mat Stack 3 to frame the chair image, which I had stamped on patterned paper, trimmed closely, and shaded slightly with a Copic T1 marker. I added some Copic YR30 for a soft warm glow coming from behind the chair. Ribbon is white seam binding dyed with a Copic R20 Various Inks (reinker). That's it for today--thanks for stopping by!

This month's Papertrey challenge is to take a project you made last year and use it for inspiration on a current project. I need to make 15 cards for a card exchange this weekend so this gives me the direction I need. I've been meaning to do another pop-up card like the Christmas cards I did. So I came up with a pop-up flower card. It's pretty quick to make once you have the measurements. Start with a 4" x 11" paper for the base (double sided paper is great since you will see the inside). Score at the following increments: 1", 2 3/4", 3 3/4", 7 1/4", 8 1/4", 10". When you fold them all in the same direction you will have a base that looks like a "B" from the side. Unfold the paper and make another score at 5 1/2". Bear with me, there are a lot of steps here, but it is easy. Cut a 2 1/2" slit in the middle of this score line, and cut another slit super close to that one to make a slot for the clear acetate piece to pop out of the base. It should be 1/8" to 1/16" wide. You want it pretty snug to hold the acetate up. Cut two pieces of clear acetate that are 2 1/4" wide and however tall you want. One piece should be 1" shorter. Slip the longer acetate piece through the slot, and using the Tiny Attacher or regular stapler, staple the long piece to the 1" segment at the end of the base. You can use adhesive to attach the two end pieces of the base together. I used Papertrey's Wonderful Words die to cut the words. Love how the long loops of the letters (like the "f") look like leaves when oriented vertically. Use a little glue to attach the word to the acetate. Place the other piece of acetate that is 1" shorter on top. The bottom of the acetate will just be resting on top of the base. This is important because it will essentially act as a ceiling and hold the base down nice and square when the card is open. I attached the two pieces of acetate with the Tiny Attacher at the top, so it will not show behind the flower. Next time I will attach the flower using the brad instead of the adhesive since it shows through. Cut flower shapes out of many colored papers. Love the Bloom Builders #3 die! Combine the colors and just stack 'em up to get an awesome flower. So quick and simple. Use a brad to hold them all together. I bend the petals up slightly on the layers to make it more dimensional. Attach the flower over your staples at the top of the acetate so it just overlaps the word. Cut out and attach the rest of your sentiment. Initially I used the Papertrey Double-Ended Banner die, but I needed it a little longer so I just cut a 1/2" strip of paper and notched the ends with the corner of a square punch. My favorite part is collapsing the card after you're done. Amazingly it folds nice and flat. Perfect for fitting into an envelop. Then to re-open it you just pull the acetate. With the word being vertical I like how it is revealed as you pull it open. Then the rest of the sentiment is on the base. OK, now I'm off to make 13 more! They do go quickly. You can get 3 bases from a 12x12 paper, so I make the score marks first, and then cut the sheet into thirds. Saves a couple steps! Oh, one other tip. I saved the clear packaging from some candles I bought at Costco. It's nice and thick. This is what I used for the card. It's large so I'll probably get 7-8 from one package. Today is release day, in which the Papertrey Ink team posts all of their creations with the new products that are up for sale today (the 15th of each month)! Let's get started! The first card is made with the new Flipping Out stamp set and little Flipping Out die! Are these not "flippin" adorable! You can die cut the flip flops and add little flowers and hearts to embellish them. Oh, so cute. On the close-up, you can see I added some dimension to the tops of the flip flops by popping them up with dimensional adhesive. I used a border die as the "sand" and stuck the flip flops in the sand! This one is a quickly stamped card. These would both be great for a teacher to wish them a happy summer vacation! I stamped the flip flops as if they were walking. The "happy summer" is stamped with Classic Kraft ink, and I thought Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz and Harvest Gold were summery colors to go with the theme! Flip Flop cards: STAMPS: Flipping Out INK: Harvest Gold, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, True Black, Classic Kraft PAPER: Raspberry Fizz cardstock, Aqua Mist cardstock, white, Hawaiian Shores cardstock, Aqua Mist patterned paper, Summer Sunrise patterned paper DIES: Flipping Out, Edgers #4 (scallop) OTHER: Embroidery Floss, pearls. ---------------- Next, I used the Chevron Die and Think Big Favorites # 16 stamps. There are two different ways I came up with to use the chevrons! 1. You can cut the large one from cardstock and layer it with the smaller chevron cut from patterned paper for a neat look like this: 2. You can also off-set the top chevron layer just slightly (the smaller one) like I did here to create an argyle look! Many fun things to be made with the chevron dies! I can't wait to play more with these. Really addicted to chevron these days. I went crazy with stars here and stitched them down with my machine. The patterned papers I used here are Aqua Mist, new Fine Linen and new Summer Sunrise patterned paper. Celebrate Good Times card: STAMPS: Fillable Frames Sentiments INK: Dark Chocolate PAPER: Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Fine Linen patterned papers, Classic Kraft cardstock, Aqua Mist cardstock DIES: none OTHER: Fiskars star punch ---------------- This card is made with the Framed Out #4 stamp set. I cut two of the frames with the Framed Out #4 die from the Autumn Abundance patterned paper and stamped some of the frames with Simply Chartreuse ink. With Gratitude card: STAMPS: Framed Out #4 INK: True Black, Melon Berry, Simply Chartreuse PAPER: Autumn Abundance Patterned Paper, Fine Linen Patterned Paper (tan heart and stripe background), white cardstock DIES: Framed Out #4 OTHER: Snow Day die cuts (orange heart) by Pink Paislee, pearls, seam binding. ---------------- This card is made with the new Happy Hydrangeas stamp set and dies. I cut out the hydrangea and saved the negative cut out (white cardstock piece), then stamped the die cut piece with new Winter Wisteria ink and Simply Chartreuse for the stem. I layered the die cut over the negative and popped it up with dimensional adhesive! Love this look! For a soft background, I chose the Background Basics: Medallion circles and stamped them with new Soft Stone ink. The gray and purples are really pretty together. Happy Mother's Day card: STAMPS: Happy Hydrangeas INK: Winter Wisteria, Soft Stone, True Black, Simply Chartreuse PAPER: Winter Wisteria, white cardstock DIES: Happy Hydrangeas die, Simple Circles die (top border) OTHER: pearl. ---------------- Last a fun card with the Heart-2-Heart #4 stamp set. I die cut the phone with the Heart-2-Heart #4 die and used the sentiments and heart from the set also. I wanted to try a tone-on-tone look. (No pun intended!) I made a little cord from twine and added the hearts to kind of gave the look of the phone ringing! Hello and welcome to day 8 of the Papertrey Ink anniversary festivities! Today I'm excited to share with you samples using the new Blue Skies collection by Betsy Veldman! Blue Skies in not only an amazing stamp set, but a few other fun products were created to coordinate with it perfectly!... First up, a little something for those times when we forget. The "birthday" is from the new Swoosh stamps set. Everything else is from Blue Skies! The air plane was rolled into both blueberry sky and enchanted evening inks. The planes contrail was created using the "birthday" sentiment from Swoosh, I simply tweaked the ends as I applied it onto my acrylic block. Finished the card off with a strip of Luxe Gold cardstock and enamel dots. This bright little number utilized the extra long triangle image. Instead of creating sun rays with it, I stamped a cool rainbow! The clouds were cut using the Blue Skies dies, from the new pattern vellum pack. A little trick... the dimensional adhesive was hidden behind the white cardstock pieces. This one's sure to brighten any gloomy day. I used the new Cover Plate: Blue Skies and Cover Plate: Blue Skies Rays dies. The Luxe Gold cardstock really shines as it peeks out from the die cut polka dot vellum. Birds and sentiment from Blue Skies stamp set. I used the extra long triangle die, included in the Blue Skies die set, to die cut strips from Luxe gold cardstock and the Watercolor Wonder paper pad. Topped them off with a "thanks" from the Swoosh stamp set and some cream baker's twine. Finishing things off today with a card centered around one of the new Luxe Foil Gold papers. I carefully masked off a portion of the circle to allow me to stamp a butterfly within the gilded circle. The butterfly was created using images from both Beautiful Butterflies and Beautiful Butterflies Layers. I touched up the butterfly wings with a bit of Wink of Stella clear and then stretched a Swoosh sentiment across the front. Check out that shimmer! I'm loving all the shimmer I've had to share with you today! Well, that concludes my look at the Blue Skies stamp set & dies, Cover Plate: Blue Skies die and Cover Plate: Blue Skies Rays die. Hey everyone! I am back today with my 2nd post as Guest Designer over at Wee Memories! They have a new challenge for you today! One layer cards! These area favorite of mine as I am generally a CAS girl! First off....here is my card.... In the background, I stamped Hero Arts Envelope pattern stamp using some Chai Distress Ink. Its just a very light detail but it looks kinda cool IRL! Next, I inked up that pitcher and then used the kissing technique with the Mehndi Medallion stamp just to give the pitcher some detail. I added some flowers and the sentiment from that same set, Iconic Images from PTI. And just for a little more detail, I rounded opposite corners of the base. There you have it! Hello! Here I am again! Woo hoo! Still enjoying my crafting time on holidays! :-) This evening I sat down to create a card that has been hanging around in my head for a few days. Here it is. I used PTI Snowflake Flurries and Framed Out #3. Colours are Memento Grey Flannel, Stampin' Up Old Olive and Pool Party. Card is PTI Basic White. I used Papertrey Ink Snowflake Flurries to create this card. As soon as I saw these "snowflakes", this is what I imagined doing with them (layering and creating an explosion of colour). Only I never really saw snowflakes when I saw these stamps, I saw fireworks! Am I the only one? I love them! This card is in response to three challenges. CASology Challenge #25 gives us the theme "new". I was going to make a "new baby" card, but then today these gorgeous Snowflake Flurries entered my house and I had to use them immediately! CARDS Blog Challenge for January brought us the beautiful colour scheme. CASE Study Challenge #122 gave me the inspiration for the layout from this beautiful card by Windy Robinson. Stamped the sentiment from A Muse Studio's "It's a Wonderful Life" set on black cardstock in white ink for a chalkboard look. The background is stamped with the most realistic woodgrain image I've ever seen....Stampin Up's "Hardwood" background! The festive pine bough is from Waltzingmouse Stamps "Festive Foliage" set. I have a new Papertrey Ink color combo that I'm loving, borrowed from Heather's new Green Boutique Papers--Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, New Leaf, and a touch of Hawaiian Shores. I used the stamps and coordinating flower dies from Beautiful Blooms II, as well as a tag from Mixed Messages. Ribbon is Spring Rain, and Vintage Button is Aqua Mist. The mat layer is Hawaiian Shores--a perfect color to accent Aqua Mist! I had several options for decorating that Aqua Mist background, but I decided that it looked best plain since there was enough busy-ness going on already with the flower background. I am stopping in with a couple more cards for the March PTI Release. I meant to post them sooner but we have been gone for Spring Break. Its been a fun week, keeping the kids busy and entertained. Now I finally get some craft room time! My first card uses the new set called Splits: Celebrate... I masked of the top and stamped across the bottom of the sentiment in one line and then added some copic coloring to highlight the ribbon. This makes for a super simple, one layer card. This next card features the new set called Fancy Pants Sentiments... I heat embossed the sentient and the flourish frame on the vellum die cut. Then added it to the watercolored card front. Super simple and fast for a fun birthday card. Hope you have had a great week! We are off for one more Spring Break activity today and then we are going to get ready for Easter! Hello friends : ) I hope each and every one of you enjoyed a wonderful weekend! I sure did!! Not only did I get "stuffed" with turkey but I also got in some papercrafting time this weekend. Woo hoo!! Nothing like the sound of my Big Shot chomping through card stock to put a smile on my face!! : ) I created two new cards using my Song Birds stamp and die set from Papertrey Ink. The first card I made I CASED from Maile Belles, one of my favorite CAS card artists : ) It is for my sister and her husband who celebrate their anniversary in December. The colors I used are the colors of their wedding 16 years ago. For this card I started out by cutting a half circle from a single thickness 4.25 x 5" piece of cs. I cut and then sponged a section of my A2 card face where the cut out opening would be and lightly stamped some flowers from the same stamp set. I wanted it to look a bit like snowflakes and yet I wanted to stay within the folksy floral theme of the Song Birds stamp set so I used flowers instead of snowflakes from a different set. Once my coloring and stamping were completed on the card face I attached the circle die cut piece to the card face using foam tape. Next I cut a "snowy hill" layer from another piece of cs and attached it flat to the card face. The rest is fairly self explanatory I think : ) I die cut the little bird, leaf and banner and did my stamping and finally added a red rhinestone for some Merry Christmas bling : ) That is it for me today : ) I have some unexpected visitors surprising us today so I will not get around to my blog friends but I promise to visit soon! The PTI blog hop is today with a super fun theme. Monogrammed cards. I love it! I love taking fun alphabet stamps and personalizing cards and gifts. I thought I would pull out an old favorite of mine. If you follow my blog you know I loving call her "Mindy". hehe! This Mehndi Medallion set is one of my all time faves! And I think it makes for a fun monogrammed card too.... I used a circle die that fit perfectly inside and then added an "L" from Fresh Alphabet. (Another of my all time faves!) For some added texture, I ran it though using a lined impression plate. We are snowed in again today. The blizzard is on like donkey kong. The Papertrey Ink team is back to share ideas with a new stamp set called Feather Finery. This set has the prettiest feathers I've ever seen! First, we were to choose an inspiration photo to inspire us. I chose this one that I found on Pinterest: (source) First, I created a simple card with similar colors, inspired by the oranges and pinks. The feathers are 2-step, so the feather is stamped first and then the dots are stamped after. So fun! Tickled Pink card: STAMPS: Feather Finery INK: Raspberry Fizz, True Black, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise PAPER: white DIES: none OTHER: seam binding, chipboard stars by Studio Calico. ---------- Next, I wanted to step up the look to resemble the inspiration photo a little bit more, so I painted my feather stamp with ink refills to create that watercolor look. I used a drop of Raspberry Fizz, a drop of Sweet Blush, a drop of Summer Sunrise and a drop of Harvest Gold refill ink in my paint palette. Using a paintbrush, I dipped the brush in a drop of Raspberry Fizz ink refill and painted the top of the feather, then Sweet Blush, Summer Sunrise and Harvest Gold - just randomly painted them all over the feather. I flipped it over and stamped it onto my white cardstock at an angle. Voila! And here is the finished product. Now you can't see all of the super fine detail of the feather with this technique, but still a cool one to try! Love the effect! It turns out different every time. Wouldn't a set of matching cards be really cute with all different sayings? After they were dry, I used the dotty stamp over the top with Versamark Ink and heat embossed the dots with gold embossing powder. A sequin and a sentiment finishes the look. Sequins are from Pretty Pink Posh! Just a note: the reinkers may stain your stamps, but I've found that fingernail polish remover works great to get some of it off. Keep a wipe handy to clean your stamps right away to prevent most staining.
