I've been busy working on setting up a project for my sons 1st grade class! It's an easy "knitting" project that is perfect for elementary age kids. With a cardboard roll, tape, and popsicle sticks, you can set up a simple loom. Then just like you would finger weave, you wrap the yarn around the tops
Mural Description The Garden of Earthly Delights painting by Hieronymus Bosch, 1480-1505. Note: There are no known copyright restrictions with the use of this image. Canvas art and vintage photography images are typically created from high resolution scans. While resolution and quality are adequate for enlarging for our standard size murals, be aware that image detail and characteristics common to canvas art and older photography are magnified when enlarged for a wall mural. Materials MATERIAL COMPATIBILITY We strive to help you choose the right material for your wall mural project. Our products are designed to work on ideally prepared surfaces, preferably smooth walls with a high-quality paint and primer. While we do offer materials compatible with varying wall surface types, some paints may inhibit adhesion of peel-and-stick products, and some wall textures may not provide enough surface area to stick; a combination of those two make it even trickier. There are endless combinations of wall paint and wall textures out there and we can’t test all of them. If you're unsure, we recommend ordering swatches of our materials to test adhesion prior to installation. If you believe your wall surface may be a problem, please consider our pasted products, UltraStik™ (pre-pasted) and ProStik™ (requires paste), for a more universally compatible installation or take the necessary steps to properly prepare your wall surface as described in detail below. Modern Paint Formulations: Some modern wall paints can make self-adhesive (peel and stick) murals more challenging to install. Washable, durable, low-VOC and No-VOC paints may contain additives which can inhibit proper mural adhesion. Proper cleaning and dry time of the wall surface with a mixture of isopropyl alcohol (70%) and water (30%) MAY significantly improve the adhesion. However, we highly recommend preparing the surface in advance using a primer/sealer product like Zinsser® Gardz® by Rust-Oleum®, which can be found at most hardware stores. Use this clear coat sealant to cover the area where the mural will be applied to the wall surface. Wait at least 24 hours (preferably longer) before installing the mural. If applying to newly painted walls, wait 10-14 days before installation. Unpainted drywall, or walls with inferior paint applications, may be problematic and need attention before beginning your mural installation. Contact Us if you have questions. Wall Textures: Many walls have been treated with an added decorative texture like orange peel, knockdown, stipple, etc. For these wall surface textures, it is crucial that they are properly prepared and the right mural material is chosen for peel and stick materials. If possible, consider smoothing out your wall texture with a skim-coating of drywall compound before priming and painting; this will give the ideal wall surface with few imperfections. If skim-coating is not an option, sand any rough areas and eliminate as many high spots and ridges as possible, and consider applying a primer/sealer product like Zinsser® Gardz® by Rust-Oleum®, which can be found at most hardware stores. Use this clear coat sealant to cover the area where the mural will be applied to the wall surface. Wait at least 24 hours (preferably longer) before installing the mural. **We aim to address customer concerns such as these and provide suggestions for the best mural experience for our customers. Magic Murals cannot accept, refund or replace returned murals due to incompatible wall surfaces. Ultimately, it is the customer’s responsibility to install a mural according to its instructions and take the necessary steps to properly prepare the wall surface prior to installation.** COMPARE OUR MATERIALS Our materials feature a matte finish for extremely vibrant colors and reduced glare. This is a photo heavy post, so get comfy if you have the time. Although I cannot tell you all the details on how I made this worn journal cover, I can show and tell the extra bits which I did to add to my project that are not in Tim's book on Page 35! Go to Linda's blog to see more ideas by the Curiosity Crew for inspiration. I started with a brand new Cover. Covered it with Gel medium Then adhered a sheet of gift wrap tissue paper which I had scrunched up. When the front was dry, I glued the inside and wrapped the paper round the cover. Now I had a textured cover, inside and out! I started on the front cover with distress paint and water which takes an age to dry, but I prefer it to air dry than help it with a heat gun as it seems to dry more interesting when left to its own devices! You can see how much paler it dries below! Once this was dry, I had run out of patience so I did the inside with a thin layer of paint and blended it with a baby wipe. This showed up the wrinkles nicely. Once this was dry (which was quick!) I lightly smeared some bronze paint dabber onto the raised areas of tissue paper around the edge of the cover, inside and out. Then I set about making the decorations for the cover and shopped my stash for trinkets. I added distress embossing powder to the clock die to make it look rusted. Here you can see how I plotted my layout before adding my stencils. I discovered a great thing about this stencil, if you stencil it straight first, you can angle it the second time and get a full second clock at the top! as per below! This is the finished base for the front of my cover. The inside looked like this before I added the cut off piece of clock die. I used a brad though my ribbon, the buckle and the clock die to anchor it all in place. This is how it looks from the top The clock face from the remnant rub fitted perfectly inside this Spellbinders cog die. For extra texture I added some flat backed pearls. The safety pin on the spine acts as an anchor for the excess ribbon once it is buckled up. The Antique bronze distress paint that I added to the metal cogs and word strip look almost gold in these photos, but they are quite copper in real life! I added the off cut from the front clock to the inside cover of the back page. This is the buckle closed, as if the cover was full inside. I am still working on the contents! Tim's buckle is such a clever piece of idea-ology. Functional and good looking! So this is my cover, inside and out. If you want to join in this challenge, get yourself a copy of the Compendium of Curiosities 3 and go to page 35. This is an odd numbered challenge, so the sponsor for the lucky draw prize is Inspiration Emporium who are giving a generous $50 voucher! Tim and Mario sponsor an awesome selection of goodies as the prize for the person's project chosen by the Curiosity Crew. To be eligible for this prize, you have to comment on every Curiosity Crews members inspirational piece and stick to the few rules Linda stipulates....

Stitching lace insertion to fabric is the first technique that we learn when I teach heirloom sewing by machine. This is not a strong application of lace and best used on collars, yokes, or sleeves. Lace insertion is the lace that is straight on both edges. If one side of the lace feels rougher than the other, this is the wrong side of the lace. I have used a contrasting color thread for the photos. Use a fine machine thread that matches the lace and a 60/8 size machine needle. Starch and press the lace and fabric. Using a wash-away marker, mark the lace placement lines on the fabric. Set the sewing machine on straight stitch length of 2.0 and stitch close to the edge of the lace down both sides. I prefer to stitch from top to bottom each time to prevent the fabric and lace from distorting. Turn the fabric to the wrong side, and carefully cut the fabric between the stitching lines, being careful not to cut the lace. Press the fabric away from the lace. On the right side of the fabric, using a zigzag stitch of 2.0 width and 0.7 length, stitch over the previous stitching line. The stitch should "zig" into the lace and "zag" into the fabric. On the wrong side of the fabric, using blunt scissors, trim away the excess fabric. Starch and press the fabric and lace before continuing with your garment. I first started doing heirloom sewing about 15 years ago while doing custom sewing for "Joy's of Smocking" in Decatur, AL. I still love working with lace and fabric!

Capacity is the amount of liquid a container can hold in other words, capacity is the volume of a container giving in terms of liquid measurement.Capacity means how much something can hold, words that describe it are cup, pint, quart, gallon and liter. Capacity and volume are an example of two synonymous, because the volume is like the inside of something and the capacity what something can hold.

168/365 So we did a mini free workshop for just half the day. The workshop is to promote fine art conceptual in our country because there isn't much appreciation for it. It was such a cool thing to do even though there wasn't enough time for everything, we all had a great time. I just hope that some of the students that attended were able to follow. This is the shot that I did for the workshop. And this one is inspired by the story, Jack and the beanstalk. Facebook | Twitter | Tumblr

One thing I would love to have in my house is live plants or better yet, fresh flowers, but with two kitties it's just not an option. So, I had to improvise... A bouquet of cat and kid friendly, all natural, homemade flowers. I found a video tutorial for these here. They were quick and easy to make - I simply fingerknitted the flowers and sewed them onto the branches from our wool tree. James loves these happy little flowers and spends several minutes every couple of days rearranging them, always making sure they're all facing forward. :) Just a couple of side notes: ::Big hugs and thanks for all of your Happy Birthday wishes to my newly 3 year old boy! We had such a wonderful weekend celebrating this very special occasion. ::Don't forget to enter my Mudpuppy Giveaway - the contest ends on tomorrow!
