Included in this product are the task cards and discussion question strips. When using the task cards, the students can answer the questions verbally or have them use a dry erase marker to select an answer. Some task cards will have more than one answer and may not have an incorrect answer depending on what is expected of the student. (I did this because not all schools, families, or people have the same routine) Most task cards however have one correct answer. There is also a worksheet where the students can express what their routine and/or schedule will be like for them. In addition, there are task cards with a specific part of the day that the student will put into a sequential order to develop their own schedule. The task cards can be divided into morning routine, getting ready for school, going to school, at school, after school, and bedtime. You will use these cards over and over again every year getting your students prepared for the different routines and schedules in their day. Laminate the cards and keep them on a ring to take with you everywhere. You can also use the cards for the student to put their schedules/routines in order. This will help with sequencing and organizing their routine. Some suggested uses for Problem Solving and Social Skills Task Cards: Use the cards as a tool to check for their accuracy when problem solving Use the cards to expand their description of the problem and the solution by asking them ”why” they chose their answer Use the cards in a social skills group to enhance group discussion around a problem Use the Discussion Strips provided to probe further and enhance the discussion. Control which student gets which discussion question by passing them out as needed. Use the Individual Picture Cards in the back as a learning/teaching tool. Have the student pick cards and place them in the order they belong. SLP’s can use this to carry over skills for articulation and language Table of Contents: Problem Solving Task Cards pgs. 4-11 Discussion Strips pgs. 12-13 Draw A Picture Worksheets pgs. 14-16 Individual Picture Cards pgs. 17-24

This set contains 4 weeks of morning work for the month of February. The math is aligned to 6th Grade Common Core Standards and meant to be a review. Each week follows the same routine and structure. Mathematician Monday- Multiplication & Division, Whole Numbers & Decimals, Expressions & Equations, Problem-Solving, Ratios & Rates Statistics Tuesday: Whole Numbers & Decimals, Rational Numbers, Statistics & Probability Wordless Wednesday: No Word Problems! Students have 3 problems without words. Multiplication & Division, Expressions & Equations, Throwback Thursday: Relationships Between Variables, Geometry, Graphs, Coordinate Planes, Units of Measure Fraction Friday: Nothing says Fun Friday like Fractions! Fractions, Percent I created this resource in my own classroom because I saw a need to continuously review these key areas. By following this same structure each week, students know what to expect while they are also building their confidence in these essential math areas. I have also found several other benefits from this morning work routine: 1)Routine!-My students knew exactly what to do when they come in the classroom. Also, if I needed a few extra minutes due to meetings or other housekeeping duties, I knew my students were spending that time working on essential math skills, not just “busy work.” The morning work is meant to be short and sweet, skill practice, plus engaging. 2)Short & Sweet- There are only a few problems so it shouldn’t take longer than 10 minutes. This will also let you know if students are still having difficulty with a certain skill. 3)Fewer Copies- Only one sheet of paper for the whole week! (Copy front and back) 4)A Weekly Grade-My students know this and do not want to do the work for homework or have a poor grade. This helped get them started right away in the morning. I also go over the problems each morning and allowed students to fix their work before turning it in. In my opinion, this is beneficial because it keeps the students engaged as we go over it, ESPECIALLY if they had difficulty with it. This was also beneficial for students because if they paid attention and “added on to their thinking,” they can earn a good grade that will be added weekly. For students that already struggle, this is confidence building and motivating. Digital The Math Daily Review comes as a printable pdf and in a digital format. The digital format includes Google Slides and self-grading Google Forms. The links for both of these are on a separate Google Slides: The Google Slides are organized into a weekly presentation. Each day is on one slide. Some teachers like to separate out the slides to share them on a daily basis. You are able to do this if you don't want to give students a whole week at a time. Google Forms: With the Google Forms, each day has its own Google Form.🛑 Are you a member of the TLL Membership? These materials are already included. Using an Escape Room to develop curriculum knowledge is an exciting activity that will inspire learners from 3rd Grade to 6th Grade. To celebrate Christmas is even better! In this Escape Room, Christmas threatens to be cancelled as Santa has overslept and is not prepared for delivering presents throughout the world. Only the participants in the Escape Room can help him! The curriculum content of this Escape Room is linked to: Christmas Problem Solving Math (Multiplication, Time, Sequencing) Word Skills (Language Problem solving) Geography (World Locations) The aim of the Escape Room is to provide jeopardy for the children to work under pressure to solve 9 clues to save them being trapped in the Escape Room. Before beginning, you will need to prepare the following: A copy of the Pupil Workbook for each group A set of table activities for every group – prepared beforehand and given to each group after they have all completed each Code Key activity IT sources and research materials Initial Starting Script sharing the problem to the children Completion Script celebrating the completion of the challenge Children do not need prior knowledge of the topic to complete this Escape Room, however, a calculator and world map would be handy. Internet or non-fiction (fiction) sources could also be provided to ensure the children can find the names of Santa’s reindeers. This Escape Room is designed to be fun, and a clear celebration of Christmas. It is ideal from children from Grades 3 to 6. The activity begins by the teacher reader the Initial Message received which informs the children that Christmas is cancelled as Santa has overslept. The only way Christmas can be saved is if the children help Santa with getting himself, the reindeer and the presents organised and deliver them in the time he has left. What follows are 9 activities which focus on getting Santa up, ready and delivering, using a range of curriculum skills, as well as cooperative learning. Once each Challenge is completed, a Code Key is revealed in their answer. The children must find all 9 Code Keys to save Christmas. The 9 activities are based on the following outcomes: Wakey Wakey Santa – identifying the ringing alarm clocks Find Santa’s Clothes – Word Search and a secret is revealed Present sorting - 2D and 3D shape sort using shape properties Reindeer Sort – Anagrams and a secret is revealed Feeding the reindeers – Identifying what reindeers eat 36 Hours – Time related math questions (long multiplication) More Food and Drink - Sequencing Around the World – Ordering countries and continents to get Santa around the world in the right order And finally, one long sleep – Math questions with four operations When all 9 activities are completed, and the children have gained the correct Code Keys from each activity, the teacher can read the final communication detailing how the children have been successful, Christmas has not been cancelled and they can therefore leave the Escape Room. Setting up the Escape Room 1. Children should be split into groups of no more than four and be placed in their own work space. 2. Access to IT, World Maps and research materials should be provided to encourage children to research answers to questions if they need them and review their own knowledge, as well as checking answers. 3. Each group should have a Code Key Booklet and decide on a team name 4. Read the Initial Message to the children to set the challenge in context. Discuss what this means, and what the activity entails. Children will be told that Christmas is to be cancelled unless they can sort out Santa and help him deliver the presents in time. Only they can help him and save Christmas! 5. Each group starts on one of the 9 tables with one of the 9 Challenges. Determine a time limit with your children – during that time, the children must try and complete the challenge to reveal a Code Key. All answers can be found in the Teacher Answer Booklet. 6. At the end of the time, children should have filled in the Code Key in their booklet. At this point, the groups move to the next Challenge sequentially. For example, if they were working on Challenge 5, they would then move to Challenge 6, then 7, 8, 9, 1 and so on until all 9 were completed. 7. The same time limit should be applied to all Challenges to ensure it is fair for all groups. Some Challenges will be faster than others! 8. For those groups who have been successful, they are then able to read the completed statement where they find out if they have escaped the Escape Room and saved Christmas! The Escape Room should last for 2 hours – but more time can be given if your children require it - this is completely flexible for you and your children. We hope that your children enjoy this Escape Room. If you like our products and would like to be informed when we launch new activities, why not follow our store by clicking on the "Follow Me" icon?
