Delve into the serene beauty of the Scottish coast with this exquisite print, encapsulating the mystical charm of Achmelvich Beach's tidal zones. The piece exudes the elegance of Art Nouveau, a style renowned for its ornate lines and natural forms, which are flawlessly integrated into this depiction of Bladderwrack seaweed—a marine plant that not only thrives in the intertidal stretch but also manifests the very essence of Scotland's aquatic flora. In this artwork, the rich tapestry of the sea comes alive through a dazzling palette of greens, blues, and yellows, intermingled harmoniously to portray the dance of the Bladderwrack's elongated fronds and air-filled bladders against the swirling patterns of water. The meticulous attention to detail in the rendering of the seaweed's intricate textures and shapes invites the viewer to a closer inspection, whilst the stylised rock formations framing the scene provide a stark, grounding contrast to the fluid marine life. The interplay of colour and form culminates in a vista that is not just a mere representation, but a vivid, intimate exploration of the Scottish shores. By bringing this print into your space, not only do you honour the rich biodiversity of the Scottish seascape, but you also invite an artful melding of nature and design to grace your surroundings. This piece from our 'Scottish Flowers and Flora' collection is an evocative homage to the untamed beauty of nature, creating an atmosphere of both tranquillity and wonder wherever it is displayed.

Wearing History Sophie - 1899 French Jacket E-pattern Sizes 30" Bust- 46" Bust, all in one size packet. This listing is for an E-Pattern to print yourself at home on your home printer's USA letter and A4 sized paper. This also includes A0 size for copy shop printing. Many thanks to Sophia Khan for the beautiful photos of her in her jacket she made. You can find her on Instagram at http://Instagram.com/Sophia_khan/ --- DESCRIPTION --- ~ Upper Intermediate to Advanced Difficulty ~ An elegant jacket, from the year 1899, that is ideal for late Victorian, early Edwardian, and steampunk looks. This jacket has a flared Medici collar with petal detail, circular cuffs, and scalloped hem. The jacket may be accented by rows of top-stitching. Works well in wool, linen, or cotton for both the fashionable lady or the lady adventurer. This pattern originally appeared in La Mode Illustree in the year 1899. While based on an original pattern and while this pattern follows the original silhouette very closely, this pattern has had significant improvements to make it more user-friendly for today’s dressmaker. This pattern has been trued up from the original pattern and includes the addition of multi-sizes, seam allowance, grain lines, notches, facing pieces, and pattern markings which were not originally included. This pattern has been supplemented with my illustrations and text to make basic, untailored construction easier to comprehend. Basic lining instructions are included, but are not in-depth. If you desire more tailoring or lining instruction, it is suggested to supplement this pattern with a book that instructs tailored garment construction. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MAKE A MOCK UP TO TEST PATTERN FIT AND CONSTRUCTION BEFORE CUTTING INTO YOUR FASHION FABRIC. Fit and construction of this garment is more complex than the majority of garments made today. Test the construction and fit first in a cheap mock up fabric, since the fit and construction of garments from the 19th century are so VASTLY different than garments today. The fit is unchanged from the original 19th century source material. This was originally designed to be worn over period foundations, including corsets, of the period. The fit of the finished garment, however, does not have the exaggerated bust/waist ratio of many period garments and can easily be adjusted to wear for modern wear, without corset, in the mock up phase - SIZING - All sizes below are included in these e-pattern files. This pattern was meant to be very fitted over the bust. Very little ease is included if you want more ease, or desire to wear it over a full blouse, consider cutting a size larger. Bust 30 - 32 - 34 - 36 - 38 - 40 - 42 - 44 - 46 Waist 24 - 26 - 28 - 30 - 32 - 34 - 36 - 38 - 40 This pattern is meant to be very fitted at the waist and has very little ease. If you are between sizes, cut the next size next larger. - HOW TO USE THIS E-PATTERN - YOU WILL NEED ADOBE READER, A FREE PDF READER PROGRAM, IN ORDER TO OPEN AND PRINT THIS PATTERN. This design started out as a simple drawing in my sketchbook with no particular intention of what it should be, over time it evolved into a black and white screenprint of architectural and plant forms along side each other forming an overall shape that suggests a village on a hill...its a bit mid-century in influence with a middle-eastern mystical magical feel...im still thinking of a name for it.
