Over the last year, Polish designer and illustrator Janusz Jurek has been exploring different forms of generative illustration as it relates to the human form. Some of my favorites are collected into a series title Papilarnie where bundled lines that look like lightning or roadways on maps converge into 3D arms, feet, and other incomplete bodies. You can see more of his generative illustration work over on Behance. More
Victo Ngai’s dramatic illustrations are packed with elements from fantasy and contemporary life. Whether in personal or editorial work, her talent in narrative shines. The Hong Kong-born, New York-based illustrator most often plays with scale in her stirring works.
The New Yorker covers are so widely heralded that artists in Tokyo have created a faux magazine in homage, called The Tokyoiter.

Brooklyn-based painter Iris Scott (previously) eschews brushes and palette knives in favor of using the most traditional art tools of all time: her fingers. Her color-saturated canvases of thick oil paint capture shaking wet dogs, dreamy urban cityscapes, and serene outdoor scenes. “There’s nothing between me and the paint, I feel all the tiny nuances,” says Scott. “I can manipulate thick paint with my fingers in ways brushes never could.” The physicality of using her digits brings a unique sense of motion to each piece and when coupled with nearly 100 colors for a single artwork, it’s no surprise to discover how entrancing each canvas becomes. We've all been there, haven't we? Staring at that terrifying blank sheet of paper, wondering what to draw next. All creative juices evaporated, our poor artsy souls left in an artistic desert. Unfortunately, we're no strangers to the quest for drawing ideas when the muse has taken an unexpected vacation. It's during these times that we realize the true value of prompts — those little sparks that ignite our imagination, allowing us to create cool drawings that make our friends request custom artwork. Well, that is until they realize there's a price tag attached.
