Hello Everyone! What a great day to start a study on clouds!! Dark clouds this morning releasing a deluge of rain! By 1:00 beautiful clear sky with just a few cirrus clouds! Perfect example of our ever changing skies. I'll share our Cloud Unit in a second, but first I wanted to show some pics of our whole group math lesson. We are continuing our study of place value. After all the activities we did last week, it was time to see how all of this fits in relationship to other numbers. I pulled out our bigger than life 100 board and handed out some mystery picture clues. Each clue described a number in place value (tens and ones). The kids took turns putting their cards on the number for which their clue stood. When we finished putting all the clues down, a cloud was revealed! Use your imagination! It looks like a cloud, right??? The kids loved working together to create it!! I'm not even sure they realized they were growing their number sense!!! I did put together a little integrated cloud unit. We are going to try to get most of this in this week!! The unit also includes some poetry, another science activity and more!! You can get it if you click HERE!! Stay tuned for more cloud fun later in the week! Until then, have a wonderful week!! Thanks for stopping by for a peek!! Joyfully! Nancy

Would you like to decorate your classroom with fun, hand-drawn anchor charts/posters? Do you simply not have the time to get them done? Well, you have come to the perfect place! I love making these engaging and appealing anchor charts. I also can draw/create any other topic you would like, just contact me directly and ask! My students absolutely love these posters and references them every day. Many of them are visual learners, so the colorful images really help them connect and remember what they have learned. This particular anchor chart is for readers/writers learning all about capitalization. My students get confused and forget when to capitalize words so this "MINTS" phrase really helps them remember! **These will be copies unless asked otherwise for a custom poster. They are not laminated, and are printed on normal, anchor chart paper. I ship these out ASAP after being ordered, but please keep in mind once shipped, it is outside of my control. Therefore, if shipping does not meet your expectations, I highly encourage you to please reach out to me first, and we have always been able to work something out to make up for anything that may have occurred after I have sent your package, thanks so much!! Hope you love it :)
Tonight is movie night. We are watching “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and having grinchy treats. The kids are excited about it. I decided to have a Grinchy preschool today before we watch the movie. Read “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” by Dr. Seuss … a holiday classic. Little Rhyming Books Point out several rhyming words in the book. Read a sentence or two and have the kids guess what the rhyming word could be. Staple several small papers together, making the bottom piece longer than the rest. Write a word chunk on the last piece of paper (so you can see it as you read the whole book.) We used –at and –un. Have the kids help you think of rhyming words and name the beginning letter sound. Write that letter on one flap. Continue until the whole rhyming flap book is complete. Help the kids read their rhyming book. Grinch Coloring … we used this for part of our next game below. Print a copy of the Grinch. We used the page here. Color the Grinch and cut it out. Cut out a simple Grinch body and legs from green paper. Glue the Grinch’s head to the body. Grinch’s Heart Game In the book, the Grinch’s heart grows three sizes on Christmas. Cut out several red hearts. Talk with the kids about why the Grinch’s heart grew and how it made him feel. Explain to the kids that the Spirit of Christmas makes our hearts feel good and “grow” inside. Today, every time they do something kind for someone else (make their bed, do a job for them, put their lunch dishes away…) they can leave a heart for that person. When they find a heart, they get to glue it to the Grinch. Don’t forget to remind the kids and ask them how they feel when they do something nice for someone else. (Don’t forget to do several small acts of service yourself!) Grinch Bead Bracelet Give the kids a length of elastic. Set out a bowl of green beads. Tape one end of the elastic to the table. Let the kids string green Grinch beads to make a bracelet. Tie and wear! Grinch Movie Night Watch the classic “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” Enjoy Grinchy Treats Grinchy Popcorn … original recipe here. Sweet and salty. This got thumbs up all around Pop popcorn and remove the seeds. Melt green candy melts in the microwave according to the directions. Pour all over the popcorn and stir well. Spread the popcorn over a sheet of parchment and let cool. Grinchy Milkshake Blend green mint ice cream and milk in a blender. Pour into glasses and serve. Another Grinch drink with lime sherbet and 7up here. Grinchy Snacks green grapes cucumber slices, broccoli and dip green M&Ms
