We’ve always got our eyes peeled for fresh, unexpected design, and this nested coiled prong bowl from SIN studio is exactly what we’re looking for. Made of hand-sculpted earthenware that forms an open structure to nestle fruit and vegetables in your kitchen, you can also fill yours with thises and thats (like our famous dryer balls!) to set on a coffee table. Each bowl will vary slightly—since that raw, terra-cotta earthenware is handmade, yours will have its own unique dips and bends. Virginia Sin of the eponymous brand name is the magic-maker behind this one-of-a-kind design (you can find her beloved reimagining of the paper plate in ceramic right here in our Shop!) To ensure smaller fruits, like lemons or limes, don't roll out of the bowl, just drape a tea towel inside. Speaking of fruit: Why not whip up a batch of zippy lemon bars, learn a trick or two about pomegranates, or try your hand, and tastebuds, at a salty-yet-sweet fruit salad?
Immerse yourself in the fundamentals of the pottery wheel This. Is. It. During this six-week ceramics course you're going to ground yourself with a foundation of wheel thrown pottery. You’ll be able to take a ball of mud and throw it into something beautiful (or not, that's fine too). Elevate Your Skills | Relaxed Learning Environment | Small Class Sizes + Structure Similar to the four week course, in the first two weeks we’ll cover centring (the most gloriously frustrating, hypnotising process you’ll ever experience), and how to manipulate your blob into a work of art. In week three, we learn how to trim ribbons of clay to finesse our items. However, in the six week course, we go back to throwing for weeks four and five. We find now you’ve had a few tries and run through the entire process, you start to actually get the hang of it in these weeks. In the final week, we come together for a glazing session to turn our masterpieces into fully functional ceramics. + Lesson length Included in our six week session is weekly, 2 hour lessons from our fabulous throwing master, who will hold your hand every step of the way - literally if needed - a bag of beautiful, tactile midfire clay, firing and glazing. + No experience required This class is ideal for folks with zero experience, though to those who've had a few lessons, but need a refresher to improve their technique. + Can I reschedule Class sessions run for six consecutive weeks. Same day, same time. Sorry, if you can’t make it to a session, we’re not able to offer make-up classes, or switcheroos. + How do I book Please note: only the FIRST date of the session is listed on our booking calendar below. You only need to book in for the first date of the session and you will be automatically signed up for all 6 consecutive weeks. *If one of your course dates falls on a public holiday, your course will resume the following week, and pick up where you left off. For example, if the third week of a course falls on Labour Day (Oct 7th), that third week will actually take place the following week, skipping the public holiday. Class sizes are strictly limited (sorry, you must be over 16 years to attend) + Location This class is at our Marrickville Studio + Now with AfterPay Want to pay by AfterPay?
