Do not adjust your web browser, these distorted watercolor and gouache portraits were painted just as they appear by New Zealand-based illustrator Henrietta Harris who says her style “can only be achieved by having occasionally dipped one’s paintbrush accidentally in one’s coffee.” A pretty apt description for these dreamy portraits that seem to convey the precise moment when one becomes lost in thought or memory, an ethereal wind of distortion whirling temporarily through the subjects’ mind.
Love! Enjoy the stunning paintings by the young Italian artist Silvia Pelissero (best known as agnes-cecile).
Lean on Me, 6 x 6 Back at the daily little warm ups, and loving it. I was energized yesterday by some really good and eager painters at a one-day workshop I taught here in Atlanta -- it is just great to be with others on this quest to say more with less. Tonight my husband and I were at dinner, and I told him how much I have come to appreciate the art life that I'm now experiencing, which has truly unfolded in a magical way!

Through delicate washes of peach, aqua, and smoky gray, St. Louis-based artist Ali Cavanaugh (previously) renders watercolor portraits that lay her subjects’ spirits bare. “I’m continually searching for something complex in human expression,” she tells Colossal. “Curiosity, sadness, wonder, hesitation, peace, and acceptance all in one glance.” Cavanaugh paints her dreamlike works on wet clay panels, allowing the bright backdrops to illuminate the translucent pigments. The resulting works are introspective and intimate while simultaneously harnessing the universal experience of the sublime. More

The beauty of the female figure fascinates Suchitra and has been her focus. She strives to depict the atmosphere of the setting, and the mood of the model.
