I love this recycled planter made by one of my gardening junk friends several years ago. She used an old washing machine agitator... turned it upside down and attached it to a pipe sunk into the ground. It reminds me of a big pink lily! Here's a nice flower bed made using old picket fences and part of a chair for a plant shelf... again, not my yard, but I like it. I have a small collection of 40s potty chairs which I used to hang over the tub in the bathroom but have already hung one on the covered patio and plan to put the others there. They look great with trailing plants in the 'potty' area. (Soon as I get the digital camera... and figure out how to use it...will post a photo. ) It is possible none of you will recognize the origins of this lovely planter.... and instead of telling, I'm gonna ask you to take a guess. I can give you a hint... I'd LOVE to have it in my back patio... and I just love junk. I did a little impromptu antiquing Wednesday and the devil made me buy a vintage telephone booth... it is huge... solid oak inside and out and has old wavy glass in the door. It really is a beautiful piece. The seat was removed long ago and shelves added to make it a display cabinet... I'll probably leave it like that for a while... until I decide exactly what to do with it... it was such a bargain... I just couldn't pass it up! (i'll need to keep a closer eye out for those antiquing devils in the future)
Painted Fish Decorations Kim at What am I Going to be When I Grow Up with the help of her friends painted slabs of an old picket fence into these lovely fish in exciting colors and patterns. During holidays it functions as a stocking hanger and else than that it is a great organizer for bags, hats and other accessories. Great, isn’t it? A Fence Planter The Old Park Homestead has a great idea to let an old fence live a second life in the same scenario where it lived its first life that is a garden. This fence must be so glad. A Towel Rack Samantha at Pots and Tots added hooks to two pieces of an old picket fence. Fixed them on a wall and it became a wonderful towel storage. So, this project is a great example of a simple yet a clever idea. Welcome to Picket Planters. This Listing is for - the four different size Hanging Fence Boxes available. Starting to build my wife a new cedar raised herb garden after our other one of three years was weathered and old, I decided to add a little character to it. Then I added character to our long boring fence by creating easy to hang planter boxes, and Picket Planters was created. Currently I use only non-treated 5 1/2" and 3 1/2" cedar fence pickets bought at the local hardware store. There are 4 different sized smaller hanging planter boxes that include a wood cleat and are built with a matching opposite cleat on the back of the box allowing you to hang the box easily almost anywhere you desire that will allow the included wood screws. Just screw the separate cleat on a fence picket in the location you desire and then hang your box. The cleat on the box allows it to lock into place comfortably on the installed separate cleat. - There are 4 hanging planter boxes available. All cleats are predrilled for easy installation. - 16" x 8" x 7 1/2" - 16" x 8" x 5 1/2" - 12" x 8' x 7 1/2" - 12" x 8" x 5 1/2" It can be purchased 1. Plain cedar - no finish. Natural cedar will fade over time and can be painted or stained later. 2. Golden Cedar Exterior Stain - Outside of the box only Golden Cedar is an exterior grade finishes - I also offer a standing planter that measures 32" High, 37" Long and 22" Wide (with the legs on) It ships partly assembled and is easy to assemble with 32 screws included. (A video for assembly will be posted soon). Found on my second page - The Fence addition that is designed to be installed in the standing planter box is 30" wide by 36" tall. Did you say that title like Molly Shannon would? I made a simple star using 5 pickets. I laid them out in a star shape and screwed them together. I put a little block of wood under the spaces where the pickets didn't touch. I left the original chippy paint on the pickets, sanding off the loose pieces. A little clear coat finished it off. Perfect on a porch or above a fireplace. Find more ideas at Donna's Funky Junk Interiors.
