It’s Sunday and time for another fun challenge over at The Paper Players! This week, Ann has a fab Clean-and-Simple (CAS) Masculine Theme Challenge for us. I don’t know about you, but I ALWAYS need more masculine cards in my card stash. I never seem to have enough when I need them so this challenge came at the perfect time. Please join us and share a project this week. We’d love to see what you create! Today’s Colors: Early Espresso Mossy Meadow Crumb Cake Very Vanilla The inspiration for my card actually came from a very similar card I created for a swap a few months ago. That card had a lot more distressed detail so it was kind of fun to recreate a similar card by cleaning it up a bit for this challenge. No sponging, no rough edges. So what is a Clean-and Simple (CAS) card? Here are our guidelines for the challenge: Minimal layers and embellishments Plenty of open space, aka "white" space Simple and uncluttered Full disclosure, this IS minimal layers for me. It’s a bit of a joke amongst some of my pals on the Design Team that I struggle HARD with that aspect of CAS week. I suppose I could have left off the Very Vanilla Cardstock layer but since it’s already there, I’ll just go ahead and leave it. Haha! The card is pretty simple overall. I based the card around the wood grain pattern in the Pressed Petals Designer Series Paper with a very neutral color combo. I used the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder to add a little more texture to the background, but could have also left off that step to make it even more CAS. I went with a big, bold sentiment accented with 2 die-cut leaves from the Seasonal Layers Dies. They are accented with a simple Metallic Brad and finished with a Linen Thread bow. I also used the Corrugated Embossing folder for some added texture on the leaf and layered circle. Again, the embossing could be skipped altogether for a more simplified look. Card Measurements: Early Espresso Card Base - 4-1/4” x 11”, scored at 5-1/2” Very Vanilla Cardstock - 4" x 5-1/4” Crumb Cake Cardstock (Embossed with Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder) - 3-7/8” x 5-1/8” Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (inched with Banner triple Punch) - 1-1/2” x 4-7/8” Scraps of Early Espresso, Mossy Meadow and Very Vanilla Cardstock for die cut shapes Very Vanilla Cardstock (inside card) - 4” x 5-1/4” Perennial Essence Designer Series Paper (inside card) - 1/2” x 5-1/4” Finally, here a look inside the card. I kept it simple with a coordinating sentiment and an extra strip of the wood patterned paper. I did stamp the sentiments in Soft Suede ink as opposed to Early Espresso, which seemed a wee bit TOO dark on the card. I hope you will join us this week over at The Paper Players and share your CAS project using this week’s Masculine Theme. We’d love to see what you come up with! You can link up your project through Noon PST on Friday July 26th, 2019. BACKDROP MATERIALS All of the backdrops are printed to order on high-quality poly paper or matte vinyl material. Our Poly Paper is a synthetic coated paper. It's durable, water-resistant and very difficult to tear. It has a matte finish and a high print quality. Poly Paper does not have a rod pocket and will require clamps for hanging. Our Vinyl is a high-quality material that is very durable and heavier than Poly Paper. It is water-resistant and can be cleaned easily by wiping away dirt marks with a damp cloth. If properly maintained, this material will last for years. Because of it's durability, Vinyl is the preferred backdrop for cake smashes, floordrops, and pet photography. It has a matte finish and high print quality. Vinyl comes attached to a cardboard core for ease of hanging. BACKDROP SIZES Our backdrops are available in two size options. All backdrops are listed width x height. Our 4ft wide x 5ft tall backdrops are ideal for newborn photography. Our 5ft wide x 6ft tall backdrops are best for kids and portraits with one or two people. EXPEDITED SHIPPING Every backdrop is printed to order and ships within 1-2 business days via FedEx Ground. We can do expedited shipping by request. Please contact us BEFORE placing your order if you need expedited shipping. IMPORTANT PRODUCT INFORMATION Not all computer monitors are calibrated the same. First, you will need to determine a few things, like what style or design you want to create, how long and wide your aisle is and what coverage you would like, as in a light scattering or lush coverage. This chart can help you visualize the coverage...Petal CoverageIf you choose a light scattering or a petal carpet, simply calculate the total square footage of your aisle and multiply that by the cups needed for your desired coverage. But what about if you want to do a pattern or a swirl? Some patterns, like the paisley, for example, could be determined by a little guesstimation. Say you want each paisley to be about four square feet, you want to do 5 of them and with 6 cups of petal coverage, so 4x5x6=120 cups, and if you keep it within your four square foot area you will have some extra petals, but always good to have too much than too little. Want to do a swirl? The best way to calculate this is to use string. Create the pattern you want by laying out the string and measuring the total length. Then determine how wide you want the pattern. Say your string winds up being 50 feet and you want your design to be 3 feet wide, so 50x3=150 and you want 4 cups worth of coverage, so 150x4, you will need 600 cups of petals.Hope this gave you some inspiration and the knowledge to create the wedding aisle of your dreams! So, what aisle do you see in your future?
