One of one hundred things I love about my sweet yoga practice, is coming to the mat and just accepting where ever I'm at today. Yesterday I may have been able to go further in a pose. Maybe today one side is looser than the other or I feel more stable- or less. Paying attention and taking in that information with love is helping me grow in so many ways. With a lower energy these last few months, both my stamina and physical strength are low. That's okay. It makes sense and I am celebrating all that I've been investing in healing. Now I'm ready to start building back up so I can increase my stamina and hang in there longer. Whether it's at Mommy and Me class, finishing up the dishes after dinner (instead of in the morning), being able to say yes to a friend date that happens after 11am when my energy is fading. Yes. I said 11am. I'm ready to start building back up what has had to be torn down in fighting this dis ease. Not with crazy goals of hittin' the gym every day or crazy cardio I'm not ready for. I'm showing up on my mat. I'm taking long walks. And giving myself this plank challenge to start building strength to create even more in my life. If it speaks to you- please join me! It's another month and the holidays are NOW BEHIND US! Time to get busy! I thought it was the right time to do a 30 day Plank A Day challenge! Sounds great right?!? Planks, oh planks! They kill me every time. Why? Because it is a full body exercise. It uses your whole mind and body to do them. Yes, mind! For me it is a mind over matter issue. If I just turn off my brain and keep it from thinking about how much my legs and core are shaking then I could just hang on a little bit longer. Let's engage our cores, and push our heels back and hold a strong plank. Here are the different level of planks you can do: Start as a level one and then you can progress from there as you get more comfortable and strong! Side Plank variations: Each day that you participate, take a picture and post it on your Facebook and/or Instagram account with #PLANKADAY #SunKissedBecky #CTDG so I follow along your journey too! Summer Luau Makerspace | Printable Challenge Task Cards for KEVA Planks & Lego Bricks is a great *low prep* resource to celebrate STEM with your students. Works great as a center activity, lesson extention, or part of a Makerspace. Each card is approximately 1/2 a page in size. Print in color and laminate the cards. Add a whole punch and place on a binder ring to use for years to come! My students LOVE Challenge Task Cards. In this engaging lesson, students follow 20 Summer Luau Themed Challenge Cards to create items such as a Palm Tree, Sandcastle, Flip Flops, etc. from either wooden KEVA Planks or Lego Bricks. There are MANY ways to vary the level of difficulty and, in turn, increase their creative problem solving skills: Place a 5 or 10 minute time constraint on the build. Have students build flat (2D) items. Have students build 3D items. Limit the amount of KEVA Planks the students may use. Limit the amount of Lego Bricks the students may use. Have students build with only 1 hand. Have students build in pairs/table groups. Have one student give instructions only, while the another student only builds. Have one student be the right hand builder and another student the left hand. Have your students create their own silly challenges, too! AND MANY MORE!
