"It Is Finished" is a striking digital illustration that blends architectural precision with vivid imagery. The art piece showcases Jesus Christ on the cross, rendered in a unique sketch-style that mimics the drafting process of architectural design. This piece speaks to the intersection of the divine and the designed, of faith and form. The monochromatic color scheme and powerful image make it an ideal piece for modern interiors or as a statement piece in your home or place of worship. This digital artwork is available for purchase as a downloadable file, with the watermark removed. For personal use only.
In Pirkei Avot 1:2 we learn, Shimon the Righteous was one of the last of the men of the great assembly. He used to say: the world stands upon three things: the Torah, avodah, and acts of kindness. Avodah, which is usually translated as the worship that took place in the Temple in Jerusalem, is a word that simply means “work.” Tamar Elad-Appelbaum interprets this word to be both a reference to the holy work of the Temple as well as working the land. She writes, “The idea that working the soil and serving G!d in the sanctuary are merely two sides of the same coin is basic to the Jewish worldview.” Jewish people are historically a wandering people, the word for Hebrew ivri literally meaning to pass through, to traverse. We are not known for our rootedness, and yet perhaps that is exactly what Shimon the Righteous is encouraging us to do. What would it mean for us to be deeply connected to the earth, dedicating ourselves to working it and fighting for it? Prints are on Gicleé fine art paper.
