I love teaching all algebra topics with tons of interactive and collaborative activities that get students thinking independently and working together. This way everyone gets the practice they need to feel confident in algebra. Here are a bunch of slope activities that you can assign to students working in group or even digitally. I have updated many of the activities to now include links to interactive digital slope activities in Google Slides and Google Forms for blended learning.
Let me tell you something. There is nothing, nothing, more vulnerable than having a complete stranger come in your home and analyze it and your life in a few short visits. The fate of my status of motherhood and the fate of my future children rested in her hands.

I love a good romantic staycation! You get to feel like you’ve traveled far away without the hassle of a long flight. If you plan it right, you never have to drive and you can have everything all in one place. I treat it like an all inclusive resort, because although you pay for each thing, it often comes out to much cheaper than those resorts! There are a couple of ingredients that I have found to make a romantic staycation perfect which I’ve shared below. Now just a disclaimer. Girls you can read this. But even more so, I recommend you don’t. Send this to your significant other and let them surprise you with one of the most romantic weekends right in your own city. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Texas Blogger – Travel (@mycurlyadventures_) on Feb 9, 2020 at 4:35pm PST How to Have the Perfect Romantic Staycation: The Hotel The hotel is one of the key ingredients to planning the perfect staycation. You want to book a hotel that has everything you need to not have to leave. For our most recent staycation in Dallas, we booked a couple of nights at the Hall Arts Hotel for quite a few reasons. The main attraction for us was the bathtub. We had booked a suite of the Hall Arts Hotel, because of the incredible bath with big glass windows overlooking the city, perfect great conversation over a glass of wine and a great view. Look for a place that has something unique and one a kind and will be memorable. I also think it’s so important to look at the amenities and what extra the hotel provides. Splurging on a great hotel becomes worth it since you’ll be saving on money from the attractions you might visit. And maybe even splurge on a suite or something else special! Some things that I especially look for are a specialty restaurant for romantic dinners, a noteworthy (preferably rooftop) pool to relax the day away, and a car/shuttle service (just in case you decide to go out at least you don’t have to drive), and sometimes even a spa for a wonderful couple’s massage. Look at your local boutique hotels and see what places are really going to provide something special. We loved the Hall Arts Hotel because they had live music at night, an art gallery to walk around and see all the different artwork, complimentary wine at check-in, and an impressive gym (for a fun sweat date!). What to Bring for a Romantic Staycation Another wonderful thing that makes romantic staycations so well… romantic, is that instead of focusing on all the things to do and see, you can focus on each other! It’s the perfect chance to connect and build a strong relationship together. So I like to include a couple of things to make a romantic staycation extra romantic. If you want to surprise your significant other, I found these rose petals that I used to really set the mood. Distract them downstairs and set out a heart made from roses! I also love to bring things like couple’s games. Since you’re focusing on each other, it’s a great chance to get to know each other more and spend some quality bonding time. To me a bath is huge to the perfect romantic staycation and so I love to also have the perfect bath. Epsom salts, bubbles, scrubs, nice lotion, and face masks all come together for extra romance. And last but not least, a little lingerie. A romantic staycation is the perfect opportunity to pick out some new lingerie. You can even use the opportunity of a nice hotel room and do your own DIY boudoir shoot. Romantic Staycation Packing List These are things I like to bring on my romantic staycations, but feel free to create your own list! My Perfect Romantic Staycation Day With a whole day ahead where do you even begin. You make your romantic staycation how you want whether that means lying in bed all day or whatever you consider fun, but here’s a great little staycation itinerary if you need some help. Ingredients for the Perfect Romantic Staycation The possibilities for the perfect romantic staycation are endless! The only thing that matters is that you get to “travel” and yet still spend that quality time focusing on each other!
Also available on Payhip: Jo Kelly Designs https://payhip.com/b/KkO4 This pattern makes us so happy! Mica wanted a neckerchief: something to use up those leftovers of utterly beautiful yarns which we all keep, in the hope of ‘using in a colourwork project? maybe some edging?’ They’re far too lovely to throw away and so sit in our stashes for years. Something with an i-cord edging and a button at the back. A couple of tries later, Jo had come up with this: it’s a super simple pattern with a few regularly-placed short rows to even out the gauge, and a nifty i-cord button loop as well. Shown in Ginger Twist Studio hand-dyed yarns, with buttons by Textile Garden. Make loads! Note that although the entry here is for DK yarn, this can be made in any weight from 4-ply (fingering) up to aran. There are no gauge measurements listed as it will depend on your chosen weight of yarn and its fibre content: the aim is to achieve a relaxed gauge that will give good drape to the final neckerchief. With a silk/merino blend (turquoise) I used a 4.5mm needle. In the grey version (in Ginger’s Hand Dyed Rock Sock, 4-ply, 100% BFL) I used a 3.75mm needle: I chose a needle size that’s approximately one to two sizes bigger than I would normally choose if I knit stockinette stitch in the yarn. You will need approx. 25-35g of yarn (1 - 1.25oz).

The "CIRCLE OF TRUST" design offers a whimsical twist on a classic symbol of unity and inclusion, reimagined through the universal love for pizza. This monochrome graphic, designed with crisp white lines against a stark black background, features a pizza pie with one slice standing apart, yet still connected to the whole. It's a sly nod to the social bonds that form over shared meals and the trust we place in those we choose to dine with. This graphic is not just a playful illustration; it's a statement piece that says, "I'm a part of the pizza-loving community, where everyone has a slice." It's perfect for anyone who appreciates a good pizza pun and the camaraderie that comes with it. Who knew that the softest hoodie you'll ever own comes with such a cool design. Quiet Critters: Quiet Critters live in a soundproof jar and only come out when it’s quiet! Loud noises hurt their ears, but whispering is ok. They love to sit on students’ desks to watch and learn from the students. They don’t mind being patted but they get scared if anyone picks them up or tries to play with them. If they get scared they go back to their jar to hide. How I use Quiet Critters: When I take them out of the jar I place them on the top left hand side of the desk. If the student is too loud or starts to play with them, the Quiet Critter gets moved to the other side of their desk as a reminder that they don’t like loud noises or to be played with. If they continue to be loud they go back into their jar. At the end of the quiet lesson whoever still has a Quiet Critter on their desk can have points, a sticker, be first to go out to lunch, or whatever incentives you have in the room. Sometimes just having the Quiet Critter on their desk for that lesson is reward enough! ✰ I only use the Quiet Critters sparingly, and only during those times when students need to be concentrating and working quietly by themselves. This download is for the LABEL that goes on the jar that the Quiet Critters live in as well as instructions on how you can create your own Quiet Critters! I have included labels with different sizes, shapes and borders. I have also included labels that can be edited with your own words and labels that can be resized to fit your container if needed. If you have a request for different text, border, size or style please message me and I will see what I can do! Photo Source: I Teach. What's your super power? Have you read this great post by Megan over at I Teach. What's your super power? We completely agree that community building activities are important and help lay the foundation for a successful school year because, let's face it, if your students don't get along, it'll be hard for real learning to take place! Here's a peek at some of the activities Megan suggests spending some time on in the beginning days of the school year; Photo Source: Tales from a Tidy Teacher Alice Walker's Finding the Green Stone provides a great object lesson reminding students that their attitude is important and affects, not only themselves, but those around them. After giving each student a shiny, green 'stone', have your kiddos brainstorm and write down how they plan to 'keep their stone shiny' throughout the school year. Photo Source: Mrs. O Knows Toothpaste and toothpicks provide another great object lesson reminding students to speak before they think! As your kiddos will find out, it's easy to quickly squeeze all of the toothpaste out of the tube, but trying to get it back in poses a serious problem. Words are the same. Spouting off in anger or frustration is easy, but once you say the words, you can't take them back so it's important to think before you speak! Photo Source: Third Grade Thoughts Providing opportunities for your students to work together is also a great way to build a cohesive classroom. We love the idea of having your kiddos work in teams to brainstorm and perform random acts of kindness for others in the classroom, staff they come into contact with, their family members, etc. Not only does this provide a chance for students to work together, it also sets a great tone for the school year! These are just a few of the activities Megan shares in her post! For other great ideas on discussing how students should treat each other, the power of words, and learning how to work together, be sure to check out the full post over at I Teach. What's your super power?

Most of my hems I do "by eye," thus the "lazy" method. First, I press up a hem. With the hem pressed, I bring the item to the CS machine and place it raw edge side UP under the needles so that the left-most needle is just at the inside of the raw edge. Most of the time my edge does not line up right next to one of the guidelines because those guidelines are more regularly incremental than my "by eye" amount. So, out comes my handy-dandy "hem guide." Yes, a little pad of Post-It notes. (Thanks to a PR member for this tip.) I butt it up next to the folded edge and press down so the whole pad is temporarily stuck in place. Then I turn the fabric over so the wrong side is facing down and I'm ready to start stitching. Voila! The underside of the hem is encased in coverstitching with no raw edges to trim. (Please pardon the stitch quality of the off-grain hastily made sample.)
