As I mentioned before, I have two journals- one that is a chapter by chapter study, Title Page and the other is for Topic based study. Each of my journals has a table of contents that is blank so I can fill it in as I go along. (Template available in the Chapters Kit in the store). Topic Journal Table of Contents I start out reading a chapter of scripture and I fill out a form with the following categories: Book name and title Other Scriptures I looked up and what I learned from them People in this chapter, what I learned from them, and other journals I have mentioned them (This is for any character analysis I may do in a different journal) Words I looked up the definitions to, what verse its found in, and what it means Questions I asked myself Doctrines/principles I found within the chapter and what I learned from them, and any reference to other journals I mentioned those doctrines. Then I take those doctrines/principles and create a page for them in my topics journal. I will write more about that later. Then I will add any personal insights of my own on the next page with reference to the verse. As I mentioned you can download all these templates in the store, however if you would like to purchase a bound journal with pages predesigned, check out Shannon's at The Red Headed Hostess as she has some for sale which is where I got all the inspiration for mine. I just added a few things to mine such as a place to put the date for your personal journal entries section, different fonts, and some typography images that I love. In between these pages I have some other types of pages such as maps, character analysis's, genealogy charts, pictures, etc. For example, I took the map you can download for free here, added specific locations mentioned in the BOM using photoshop, printed it out, colored it in with colored pencils, wiped some Tim Holtz stain on it, wrinkled it all up and then sewed the path in red. I love it. Now as I am reading about each location I am adding some notes to it such as distances, duration of journeys, etc. Lehi's journey in the wilderness Then I am learning about each spot individually. I am looking up candidate locations present day. This really helps the Book of Mormon come alive for me. It makes me feel like I am there, feeling the blazing heat of the desert on my back, watching them set up their campground tents and trying to raise a family in this place. Here is a page about the Valley of Lemuel, with photos of a hypothetical cove researchers believe was the original valley of Lemuel and River of Laman. Here are a few examples of character analysis's: Lehi Eve Adam Nephi I try to attach my favorite picture of that person. I look up scriptures where that person's name is mentioned, and as I go through the chapters write down anything I have learned from them. I do a search on lds.org and depending on the person, sometimes there are entire talks written about them. In that case I may attach quotes that I like, more historical facts if there are any, personality traits, physical descriptions, important life events, what they have taught me, etc. Then I go through the chapter of scripture that I read and mark everything in one color (I chose purple) and reference it to my scripture journal by volume:page number(s). This way when I read it again or any of my children/posterity read it, they will know where they can reference additional information that I have studied or journaled about. Next I will show you a little bit of my Topics Journal so you can get the whole picture. Enjoy! Aimee If you enjoyed this post Subscribe to One of a Kind Gifts here!

The Shamrock Cardigan is worked from the top down in one piece with raglan sleeves. At cast on, markers are placed before and after each of the 4 2-st raglan sections. On RS rows, you will increase one stitch before the first marker with a yo, then you slip the marker, k2 for the raglan section, slip the second marker, then yo again after the second marker. The markers hug the raglan sections, and the increases are worked before the first marker and after the second marker. Once the fronts, back, and sleeves are the correct number of stitches, these increases stop and the remainder of the sweater will be worked without increases. The sleeve stitches will be placed on waste yarn to be finished after the body is complete. Ribbing will be added to the sleeves, neckline and front to finish the sweater. The 2021 Edition of the Shamrock Cardigan does have a few changes. The original yarn is no longer available. Though you can substitute other yarns as long as you are able to get gauge, I do want the pattern to include a currently available yarn. The original pattern only went up to a finished size of 46 in/117 cm, and the updated pattern has expanded the size range to include a wider range of sizes up to a finished size of 57 in/145 cm at the bust. I'm super excited to begin our STEM Unit on the 5 Senses this next week! STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is at the core of what I believe about good teaching. The only thing I would add is an "a" for the arts. But, being the musical/drama girl that I am, it will be added. This is the first unit I will be using from those developed for the OSPI website. Click HERE if you'd like to check them out. I attended a workshop during the Starting Strong Conference on STEM and my district is opening three new STEM schools within the next 2 years, one will be right next door to my current building! STEM is all about hands-on learning. The activities are relevant, only guided by the student inquiry, allowing students to draw their own conclusions, get messy and learn about concepts. Perfect for Kindergarten!!! We are lucky that in the State of WA we have some great new guidelines for Full-Day Kindergarten, stating that learning must be developmentally appropriate and value play. This is my goal as we embark on this unit. Along with the OSPI unit, I have added some of my own resources, as well as, this great unit by Kathryn Warner from Kindergarten Kindergarten! You can purchase it at her TPT store here. It's jammed packed with fantastic printables. I will be doing CLOSE READS with the Heinmann Raintree SUPER SENSES Series. Each Sense is detailed with realia photos for ELD/ELP Practices and bold new vocabulary. All of their books are PERFECT for Kindergarten/First Grade! Also, we will enjoy these other classic texts: And if that's not enough information for you.... Here's my new Literacy Pack available today at my TPT Store! Click here to take you there right away! I wanted to create something that is stunning, stylish and can be dressed up or down. Arewà is knit top down in the round to the underarm where body and sleeve stitches are separated. The body is worked seamlessly and ribbing added to the sleeves to complete the short sleeve style of this gorgeous pullover. You will love every moment of knitting and rocking this beaut. Being a follower of Jesus takes a good pair of sneaker sometimes. Not regular sneakers, but spiritual sneakers. These won’t help you run in a race, but they will help you run away from sin and temptation and keep on the path God intends for you. Paul urged Timothy to flee or run away from evil people, places, or things that would tempt him to disobey God. Paul also told Timothy to run toward godly people who have pure hearts. This is great advice for all of us! We need to use our spiritual sneakers to run away from evil and run toward good. This is a 17-page packet that includes everything you need to do this activity with your students. What a great way to begin the year...or for anytime! Included in this packet: 1. A comfortable shirt with a beautiful design that reads "My Objective Is Only You" - an iconic quote by White No-Face (Bai Wuxiang), the White Clothed Calamity, when Xie Lian queries him. No, Bai Wuxiang says, Xie Lian is mitaken. His objective isn’t to lead him away. Hi objective is only him. The full text of this tract for believers is shown below in the KJV version. The word “rapture” means “the joyous act of being transported, caught away or caught up from one place to another place.” Although this word itself is not found in the Bible, the joyous hope of believers in the Lord Jesus being transported from earth to heaven is described for us in many Scriptures. In fact, in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, the words “caught up” are used to speak of that time when all believers shall be taken home to heaven. This happy moment has also been called “the Lord’s coming for His people” but more often it is simply called the “rapture” because that one word so perfectly tells us what takes place when all believers are transported to their true home in heaven. The three major portions of Scripture which describe the rapture are found in John 14:1-3, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, and 1 Corinthians 15:51-56. In examining each of these portions of Scripture carefully we discover the following truths about the rapture: 1. The secret of the rapture. The rapture was not revealed in the Old Testament Scriptures. It was a mystery, or secret, hidden until the New Testament times. The Lord Jesus first spoke of it in John 14 and later the Holy Spirit, through the apostle Paul revealed more of the truths about the rapture. The word “mystery” in the Bible usually refers to a truth previously not revealed (see Ephesians 3:4,5). The Old Testament Scriptures often spoke of the Lord’s coming to earth as a judge to set up His kingdom, but never directly of His coming in the air to take His people home to heaven. 2. The object of the rapture is the fulfilling of the deep desire of the Lord Jesus to have believers with Himself in heaven. “I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, there ye may be also” (John 14:3; John 17:24). 3. The subjects of the rapture will be all living Christians at the time of the rapture and all those who have died in Christ which includes all Old Testament saints as well as New Testament saints (1 Thessalonians 4:16,17). 4. The certainty of the rapture is based upon the unchanging word of God. In John 14:3 the Lord Jesus says, “I will come again, and receive you unto Myself.” In 1 Thessalonians 4:15 Paul says, “For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord.” 5. The One who raptures or catches away believers is none other than the Lord Himself. He will not send an angel to do this for Him but “the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven” (1 Thessalonians 4:16). 6. The call of the rapture will be the assembling shout of the Lord, the voice of the archangel and the trump of God. Only saved ones will hear that shout (1 Thessalonians 4:16). 7. The manner of the rapture is described for us in 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17. The Lord Jesus will not come to earth as He will do when He comes to judge the earth at the end of the tribulation period. Dead and living saints will be “caught up together … in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air.” 8. The speed of the rapture is recorded for us in 1 Cor. 15:52. “In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye.” The word “moment” in the Greek denotes an indivisible amount of time. No unsaved person will witness this event. 9. The changes that take place at the time of the rapture will be in the bodies of believers. Their bodies will be changed to be like the body of glory which the Lord Jesus now has (Philippians 3:20,21). The spirits and souls of those who have died in Christ are now with the Lord Jesus in heaven and their bodies are asleep (see Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:8 and Philippians 1:23). The spirits and souls of these dead saints will be united with glorified bodies while the bodies of living believers will also be changed at the same moment to be like the Lord Jesus (1 Corinthians 15:51-57). “We shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is” (1 John 3:2). 10. The time of the rapture is not given to us in the Scriptures. It may occur at any moment. In fact the Thessalonian believers were momentarily expecting the rapture when they lived (1 Thessalonians 1:9,10). The apostle Paul was waiting for that return. When he writes of the Christian’s hope in 1 Thessalonians 4:17, he includes himself: “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up.” The rapture is very different from the Lord’s coming to earth to judge the world and set up His kingdom. That coming, which takes place after the rapture, is often called His appearing because at that time He will appear on earth. Before this appearing can occur certain events will take place as signs to show that the appearing is near. Most of these events or signs are given for us in Matthew 24 and 2 Thessalonians 2. But there are no signs connected with the Lord’s coming in the air to receive His people to Himself. The rapture is a signless event. There is no prophecy that has to be fulfilled before the rapture takes place. We repeat, it may take place at any moment. 11. The nearness of the rapture. As we look at world events today in the light of the Bible we see the stage being set for the appearing of the Lord Jesus. Because the rapture precedes the appearing (Revelation 3:10) we believe that the time for the rapture is very near. The Lord Jesus says three times in Revelation 22, “Behold, I come quickly” (Revelation 22:7,12, 20). 12. The response of the believer to the rapture should be as we read in Rev. 22:20, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus.” The reality of this response will manifest itself in our lives by separating us in heart and in spirit from the world and worldly things and by compelling us to tell others the good news of the gospel. (See 1 John 3:3; 2 Timothy 4:5.) 13. Finally, the blessing of the rapture will be that we shall “ever be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:17). —John D.
