Daily Journal Prompts All the hard work of organizing prompts are done – one purchase, one year of journal prompts! The best part is that you get to use the same file year after year – there are no dates and no holiday specific prompts. I hope this resource brings clarity and excitement to your classroom! The point of journaling is to teach your students to check in with themselves. Daily writing can help them understand themselves better – and keep a record of how they have grown and developed over the year! I kept my journals from when I was a student and it is a treasure to look back on. It gave me invaluable insight into who I was as a young, growing student. Give the same opportunity to your students with this resource. All the hard work is done – there are daily prompts that are ready to post. You can easily check out the week’s prompts and make small edits to help customize it for your class. That is half the fun for my class. I like to edit some of them on occasion to really speak to the personality of my classroom of funny, bright students. This helps create the engagement needed to ensure the act of daily journaling occurs thoughtfully everyday. I always present the slide before students enter the classroom. In the background, I play instrumental music. This sets the tone for when students walk into class. They are to take out their notebook (or open Google Classroom) and write their response. I teach them the expectations for a thoughtful response as well as what to do when they are done so they do not disturb others who are still writing. To highlight the importance of this routine as a foundational part of the start of my class, I provide a student check in. That was my favorite assignment to grade as it gave me (as a teacher) insight into who my students are as people as well. The journal prompts are for the students. They are carefully written for their perspective to ensure they are able to reflect and digest the things going on in their life. It is available in two formats. In this one purchase, you will have access to all 21 Google Slide files. Do you want to present the daily prompt and have students handwrite the response? Then use the 10 files marked with an H (for handwritten). Do you want to post the daily prompt and have students type their response? Then use the 10 files marked with a D (for digital) Be sure to check out: Week 1, a slide to teach students about the journal routine and an example of what a good response looks like The school year goals reflection, 3 x year A rubric If you notice any mistakes or would like to suggest an edit, please don’t hesitate to let me know! ------------------------------------------------------ Thank you for viewing my resource! ------------------------------------------------------ Check out more at my store, Mary Had A Little Shop on TPT
