Montreal-based artists Melika Dez and Pauline Loctin met in January 2018 and decided to combine their imaginations in a creative collaboration. The result, PLI.Ē Project, fuses Dez’s skills as a movement photographer with Loctin’s expertise in paper art, and showcases dancers around the world wearing hand-folded paper costumes. Loctin specifically formed each dress’s shape and color palette to the dancer who would be modeling it, and Dez worked to situate her models in iconic settings from the streets of New York City to the Louvre Museum in Paris. His preference goes to black and white photography, which he compliments with obvious talent. His photographs are characterized by intense emotions, sensuality and erotic tension. The choice of location is as important for him as the choice of model. With him, the blacks and whites are more charismatic than the images themselves, they are his best narrators. With Lukas, no studio work. In his creations, the surrounding nature is the best source of contrast and inspiration. Nothing can clothe better than nature, and that is why the female body should also be revealed in that way: without any pretence, as a reference to the myth of the original woman; like a return to the birth of Venus. One of the most famous Czech photographers of his generation, Lukáš Dvořák rose to international prominence during the many years he spent working in Milan. Although his specialty is black and white nude photography, he has also shot images for renowned magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and Cosmopolitan. You may have noticed a common look in many images, not only in graphics and animations online, but also in magazines, and in television motion graphics, featuring low-detailed, faceted models, highly rendered, often with soft lighting effects. This is the low-poly look. In this article I'll explore what the low-poly look is, some examples, and how you can create low-poly images. We'll also look at some applications for this look in web designs, and also how this aesthetic may evolve online. The low-poly look is a conscious decision to use fewer polygons in the modelling stage, to create a simpler, more abstract model. Sophisticated rendering techniques, lighting effects and shadowing are used to create a highly realistic appearance of the simplified object. This is why the low-poly look recalls paper-craft or origami, which has also had a renaissance in recent years. Some of the best examples of the low-poly look are the works of Timothy J. Clara Gordon Bow; (July 29, 1905 – September 27, 1965) was an American actress who rose to stardom in silent film during the 1920s and successfully made the transition to "talkies" in 1929. Her appearance as a plucky shopgirl in the film It brought her global fame and the nickname "The It Girl". Bow came to personify the Roaring Twenties and is described as its leading sex symbol. Bow appeared in 46 silent films and 11 talkies, including hits such as Mantrap (1926), It (1927), and Wings (1927). She was named first box-office draw in 1928 and 1929 and second box-office draw in 1927 and 1930. Her presence in a motion picture was said to have ensured investors, by odds of almost two-to-one, a "safe return". At the apex of her stardom, she received more than 45,000 fan letters in a single month (January 1929). Two years after marrying actor Rex Bell in 1931, Bow retired from acting and became a rancher in Nevada. Her final film, Hoop-La, was released in 1933.
