Time changes everything; at least it feels like it. Fleeting years turn people, landscapes, and architecture into different versions of themselves. But it is only when you compare a photo taken several decades ago with one from the present-day that you can truly see the contrast between the two.

As far as achievements go, being the first in history at something is the biggest accomplishment of them all. With it comes prestige and power, knowing that nobody else did it before, and more will do so in the steps of the first. Also, plenty of firsts in history left a mark on the world both socially and scientifically. After all, when you do it for the first time, the chances are high that it can happen for a second time.
There are three things that we believe without a shadow of a doubt. Secondly, pineapple definitely belongs on pizza, and there’s nothing you can say that’ll change our minds. And finally: fact really is stranger than fiction.
In the mid-2000s, historian Anna Pegler-Gordon said that visual media often seems more accessible to her students than the written record. They claimed images make the past seem more accessible, giving concrete shape to a world that sometimes seems intangible. Not to mention the immediacy of the image, which often conveys information more quickly than a primary document written in an unfamiliar, or even a foreign, language. But according to Pegler-Gordon, this immediacy also works well in discussion sections, where the shared experience of viewing a picture can provide a focus for lively group discussion.
