About this print This photograph is part of the series from Georgie Malyon's solo exhibition 'The Ritual'. This series draws on an ongoing interest in floristry, the occult and the Dutch 17th century still life tradition. A truly amazing still life floral sculpture. Limited Edition of 9 x A2 Limited Edition of 7 x A1 Limited Edition of 5 x A0 Printed by endemicworld on satin heavy-weight 100% cotton rag w/ archival inks Framing style set back w/ box moulding About the Artist Born and raised in Auckland, New Zealand Floral Artist Georgie Malyon has pursued a career for over 10 years dedicated to working with flowers. Malyon has taken it further in creating a series of photographic images that fuse together two enduring universal motifs within human culture – the dark and the light, the ephemeral beauty of flowers combined with the symbolically loaded skull. These works depart from the notion of Memento Mori, (Latin for remember you will die), functioning as a potent and persistent emblem of mortality and resurrection: the constant flux of the life/death/life cycle. Flowers and skulls punctuate the overall composition, creating a harmonious balance. The hand-painted skulls are produced from scratch and the images are handcrafted with a aesthetic that embraces the subtle beauty of imperfection.

COLLECTION DOLOMITIVal di Fassa (Fassa Valley), the Lake and the Sella Group Photographer © Johanna HuberCod. 006006 The Val di Fassa is an Alpine valley located in the Dolomites, in the north-east of Italy, in Trentino. It is a charming tourist destination, appreciated especially in winter, for its landscape beauty, cultural richness and the numerous creative activities available. The valley includes various tourist locations including Canazei, Campitello di Fassa, Moena and Vigo di Fassa. Val di Fassa is a region where the Ladin language is spoken, and Ladin culture is still very present: you can find local traditions, cultural events and museums that tell the history and life of the Ladin community. This work is available on Fine Art photographic paper or on Titian's Canvas fabric. The inches used are of high quality and long lasting, ensuring a brilliant chromatic reproduction and durability over time. The sun begins to dip the peaks of the circus mountains in red and gold fumes, while the young players walk through the stalks of the magnificent trees. The reflection of the impressive mountains in the crystal water adds a touch of magic to this already magical scenario.

A photograph by Joel-Peter Witkin featuring a real severed arm obtained from a cadaver in Mexico. Anyone who is a Republican has a spiritual problem. —Joel-Peter Witkin When photographer Joel-Peter Witkin got the idea to compose his photograph “The Raft of George W. Bush” in 2006 (which you can see below) he built upon the 1818 painting by French painter Théodore Géricault “The Raft of the Medusa.” To Witkin, Géricault’s masterpiece seemed to distinctly parallel the eight awful years the U.S. spent under the Republican administration of George W. Bush (You miss him right now, don’t you?). “The Raft of George W. Bush” took four weeks to complete and included a Bush lookalike who also worked at a zoo in Miami. Like the other photographs in Witkin’s large portfolio that spans nearly five decades, “The Raft of George W. Bush” though not as grotesque as much of his work, is still rather impossible to look away from. Originally from Brooklyn, Witkin received his Masters in Fine Art at the University of New Mexico where he has lived and worked for most of his life. His photographs feature a variety of outcasts, circus performers...

The winners of the 2015 Wildlife Photographer of the Year have just been announced, and the top images depict an extreme gamut of beauty and ferocity found in the natural world. The grand title winner was ‘A Tale of Two Foxes‘ taken by photographer Don Gutoski in Wapusk National Park in Manitoba, Canada that captures an unusual deadly clash between between red and Arctic foxes. The two species aren’t known to prey on each other as they generally hunt and live in different climates, but as their habitats have gradually merged over the last few years, the two animals are now on an unexpected collision course.
