Created for the Language Arts classroom with second language learners in mind, the 5-part activity guide was originally intended to be taught sequentially, culminating in a student-centered and student-created personal narrative documentary. Ultimately, I decided to make each section a unit of its own with flexibility in mind. The activities in the Self-Awareness section are designed to help students get to know themselves and their strengths. The unit contains activities that will enable students to focus on personal strengths and the strength they have around them in family, friends, and their school environment. The Documentary Connection blurb on each unit cover provides hints about how to use materials generated by the students. As mentioned, each unit and/or lesson can be used as a stand-alone activity to support language acquisition through self-discovery. I hope you enjoy this product and feel inspired to come back for more! Happy ARTing… Note: The Meaningful Activities section of each lesson includes key words that are highlighted to draw attention to various levels of cognitive thinking. These levels can be considered when asking or developing Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) questions. The complete I Believe in Me Arts-Based Activity Guide includes the following sections and units: SELF-AWARENESS About You About You NameTangle Intelligence and Style Discovering Your Style Star of the Story The 16 Habits of Mind Habits of What???
