Volem viure e trabalhar al païs ! Le parler sétois a toujours été une langue vivante à part entière dans les milieux populaires. Mais la considération dont il jouit aujourd'hui auprès de tous est assez récente. Ce sont les nouveaux arrivants, surtout depuis les 20 dernières années, qui sont fascinés par l’ampleur du phénomène. Avant ce récent engouement, il était très mal vu d’utiliser le patois local. Personne dans l’ancienne bourgeoisie sétoise ne se serait compromis, ce qui n’est pas le cas de leurs petits enfants. Aujourd’hui, c’est devenu le signe de ralliement des néo-sétois locavores et amateurs d’authenticité Occitane. On peut remercier Raymond Covès, pour son génial ouvrage, Sète-à-dire, dictionnaire franco/sétois officiel, une source sûre pour les aficionados. Pour être complet sur le sujet ont peut finir avec une introduction à la mauvaise langue, volem rien foutre al païs, plus conforme à l'esprit actuel.
