Happy Monday, friends! I had a project featured in the Papertrey Ink newsletter last week, so I thought I'd also share it here and provide a few more details on how I made this card. I have step-by-step photos that should help, too! I'm currently obsessed with die cut and colored flowers, if you haven't noticed, so that was the starting point for today's card. I feel like I do a lot of "flowers framing a sentiment" type cards so I thought I'd change it up and use this cute Country Handbasket Die to fill up with the cute die cut blooms! I die cut it out of Kraft cardstock and then added some shading using Classic Kraft ink and a blender brush for added depth and dimension. I glued the two pieces of the basket together and then got to work cutting and coloring the flowers. All of the flowers used on this card are from the Into the Blooms: Wreath die. I'm currently obsessed with the flowers and have used them on quite a few projects lately, but since I took December off, I haven't actually used the wreath portion included in the dies....I really need to remedy that! I colored the flowers using assorted Distress Oxide inks and finger daubers. I die cut the border using the lovely Border Bling: Scalloped Frame die using Sweet Blush cardstock adn then added some Saltwater Taffy Distress Oxide ink around the edges. I glued it onto a top-folding A2 card base using liquid glue. I then added a white oval that was cut using the medium-sized oval from the Love to Layer: Ovals Die. I adhered it to the card base using foam squares. I decided AFTER I added the oval which sentiment I wanted to use, but I would suggest stamping it BEFORE , so that you don't have to worry about the foam squares underneath. ha ha! The sentiment is from the Garden Blessings stamp set and I stamped it in black ink. I added some black ink splatter, Moonshine sequins, and glitter. The flowers are arranged using both liquid glue and foam squares. After I color the flowers, I used a foam mat and a stylus to shape the flowers. I didn't shape the pinks ones, though, just the yellow, blue, and white. You could change up the color combination to create something more moody or seasonal depending on what you like! Thanks for fluttering by!

Zonkers! Bam! Zap! Welcome to the first Group Post Day of the Papertrey Ink January 2015 countdown. Geez oh pete's, do we have some super fun stuff for you today with Secret Agent and Zappy Birthday. I've been needing sets like these in my stash. Great for kids, both boys and girls. And masculine cards for the grown ups too. One of the super neat features of Secret Agent is the "secret message" technique you can create with colored transparencies. Here, I filled my stamped and die cut magnifying glass with red transparency. Both the outer frame and "glass" are different dies that work perfectly together for easy assembly. I also used the greenish blue transparency below to cover up all my stamps and seals. This has the same tone and texture as the red glass of the magnifying glass. The "top secret" seal helps hide my adhesive here. I attached my magnifying glass to my project with a red brad. This allows it to pivot on my card.... .... so the recipient (my nephew in this case), can move it to line up with the Soft Stone "shadowed" magnifying glass to red the secret message. The message was stamped in Hawaiian Shores and covered up with the distortion stamp in Pure Poppy. How crazy cool is that?!?!? ADORE this. And my kids can't stop playing with it. The fun continues to the inside of the card. I have our Secret Agent man giving up some of his secrets. I love the "this message will self destruct" sentiment. Fabulous illustrating on Nichole's part here. I flipped when I saw this guy for the first time. Moving on, we have another great set of products by Lexi with the Zappy Birthday Collection. There's a new cover plate that gives your backgrounds a comic book look (so versatile...comic books are just the beginning here) and great paper to go with them. I created by background with the Comic Book Cover Plate and used all the papers. Next, I created a "seal" like all super heroes have on their outfits, but I used a number for a birthday instead. I added the action bubbles from the Zappy Birthday set and die cut the action words with foil paper to give it that super-duper comic look. I was really struggling with adding my "happy" and "birthday" to my project. It's pretty busy already, so I didn't want to add another color or strong element, but I didn't want those words to get lost either. A drop shadow seemed like the perfect solution. I die cut the words twice, once in True Black, the other in Pure Poppy and one on top of the other. The tone on tone of the Pure Poppy on the patterned paper keeps things subtle, and the slight shading of True Black helps it stand out just enough. Mission accomplished! Are you excited as I am about these two sets? FABULOUS stuff. Can't wait to see what everybody else does with them. Everything will be available on the 15th at 10 PM EST in the store. It's the final day of the countdown which means the June release will be available tomorrow in the PTI shop at 10 pm ET. I have two very summery cards to share today. This may be quite obvious, but I'm completely obsessed with the new Beach Bag die set. The beach bag works so well with all the new summer products in this release as you will see on my cards. This first card features a fun background created with the new Pleasing Pineapple Hot Foil Plate. I used gold foil on white card stock and then ink blended over it with light pink. The foil resists the ink making it easy to colorize the background in any color you want. The bag, flip flops, and sunglasses are from the Go-To Beach Bag Gift Card Holder die set. The sentiment I used is included in the Inside Greetings: Days of Summer stamp set. The two palm trees I had left over from my Tuck It: Travel card I made for day one of the countdown. I made extra and they were just sitting on my desk. Thought they were too cute not to use so I added those on. This next card features lots of fun stamped images from the new Pack Your Suitcase set. This stamp set does include a suitcase to hold all these travel necessities but I thought they also work perfectly in the Beach Bag. I'm loving this pink, yellow, and aqua palette for summer. These are some of my favorite PTI card stock and ink colors: Hibiscus Burst, Summer Sunrise, and Hawaiian Shores. For creating the stripes on the beach bag, I simply glued down skinny strips of the three colors onto a large panel of white card stock. Then I die cut the beach bag. You could add more stripes or stamp a pattern onto the bag too. So many possibilities!

As promised, here is some inspiration for Father's Day and masculine cards! I'm in love with this new Hats Off to Dad stamp/die set! It's such a fun and easy set to use and it's just perfect for all kinds of occasions! The hat die could be used for feminine cards as well, not just masculine! This card also features the new Perfect Stripes Stencil collection; I know I will be using these a lot! To begin, I stenciled the background using Spring Rain and Classic Kraft onto Vintage Cream cardstock. I added some Classic Kraft ink around the edges and then set it aside. I die cut the main pieces of the hat from Kraft and then the front patch from Spring Rain. I added some Dark Chocolate around the perimeter of the hat and Kraft around the Spring Rain patch. The "professional dad" sentiment is from the Hats Off to Dad stamp set and the sentiments at the bottom are from the new Father's Day Sentiments stamp/die set. I used some Bitty Big: Kraft paper to layer over the stenciled panel. I die cut the largest piece in the Reflections: April die set. I layered the Dark Chocolate strip, which was die cut using the Love to Layer: Decorative Bracket dies over the top and then added the hat. I accented the bottom with additional sentiments. The Father's Day Sentiments stamp set also includes some options for the inside of your cards. My second card for today, and the last of the release, uses the new Argyle Stencil collection paired with another sentiment from the Father's Day Sentiments. I also snuck in another strip from the Love to Layer: Decorative Brackets die set; I love how the stitched detail looks with the Argyle! I used the medium and smallest sized die cuts from the Reflections: April die set as a mat for the tree, from the Towering Trees stamp set. I love all of the sentiments in the Father's Day Sentiments, but I chose this fun one to accent this card. This concludes my projects for today and for the release! Everything will be available for purchase tomorrow night at 10 PM ET! Thanks for fluttering by!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas! We sure did! Things were a bit hectic getting everything ready this year, but we still had a wonderful day with family! I'm looking forward to the new year and all of the possibilities and new opportunities! I guess this particular sentiment that I chose for today's card fits pretty well with a fresh, new start! I chose the super cute Anywhere Together stamp set for my Papertrey Ink Flash Sale this week! I die cut the bike, suitcase, and balloons using the coordinating Anywhere Together die set. I used my mini MISTI to stamp all of the pieces; the bike is stamped using Lovely Lady and New Leaf ink, paired with Weathervane and True Black and the suitcase is Mint Julep and New Leaf with Weathervane details. I chose to stamp two bundles of balloons; one in Pale Peony and Lovely Lady and the other in Mint Julep and New Leaf inks. I love adding floral elements into most of my designs, so I thought the scale of the flowers from the Floral Breeze stamp set would be perfect for this card! I stamped some using Pale Peony for the base layer and Lovely Lady for the detail images and the others are stamped in Lovely Lady with Autumn Rose details. I die cut the Postage Frame using Mint Julep cardstock and layered it over a white card base with a piece of Bitty Big: Pink Posey pattern paper peeking through the middle. I had originally planned to have a horizontal card, but in the end, I decided that the tilted panel looked more playful on the vertical card. The sentiment is stamped in black onto a panel that was die cut with both the Nesting Basics: Rectangles and the companion Nesting Basics: Pierced Rectangles. I like that the pierced detail echoes the detail on the frame. Once the sentiment was stamped, I was able to start putting all of the stamped pieces into place using liquid glue and foam squares. I added some Moonshine sequins to the center of a few flowers and then sprinkled some glitter over the balloons and flowers for some added sparkle! Thanks for fluttering by!
There are new goodies being released this month at Papertrey Ink and you will love the fun fall and Halloween stamps, dies, stencils and...a new product will be making an appearance on Tuesday!!! For today, we are introducing you to Larger Than Life: Fall dies + Larger Than Life: Fall Sentiments stamps + Into the Blooms: Sunflowers dies + Go-To-Gift Card Holder: Backpack dies + Accessories stamps and dies. My first card is a bit larger than A2 size. I started with 5x7" then shortened the width by 3/4" so I could accommodate the largest of the sunflowers with this stitched pumpkin. I stenciled with a dots stencil and Classic Kraft ink on two corners then layered a kraft panel. I stitched the pumpkin using black twine then continued to layer the elements onto the card. I colored the sunflower using Zig clean color brushes and layered two of the "fall" sentiment dies to give it more dimension. The inside sentiment continues to say "reminds me how grateful I am for all the blessings you bring into my life". STAMPS: none INK: New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Honey Nut, Dark Chocolate, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Classic Kraft PAPER: Rustic Cream, True Black, White, Classic Kraft; Scrapbook Paper 6x6" by Recollections DIES: Into the Blooms: Sunflowers, Mini Picket Fence, Larger Than Life: Fall, In Stitches: Pumpkin OTHER: Black jute twine, Dots Stencil My second project uses the smaller sized sunflowers and leaves. I just love all the texture that is included with these dies! I again started with stenciling the background...this time using the dotted hexagon stencil. The mini picket fence was die cut from a wood grain patterned paper then two rows of grass were added - one behind and one in front of the fence. The depth of the textures doesn't show up well in the photos. It's so much better IRL! STAMPS: Larger Than Life Fall Sentiments INK: New Leaf, Simply Chartreuse, Honey Nut PAPER: Bristol Smooth Surface; Summer Sun (retired SU); Share Your Heart patterned paper, White DIES: Into the Blooms: Sunflowers, Mini Picket Fence, Grassy Edge OTHER: Zig clean color brushes, Dotted Hexagon stencil Last but not least is just the CUTEST little holder ever for money or a gift card! There are even more accessories for the backpack than I have shown in my sample! I'm thinking I need to make a couple more for teacher gifts from the grand kids. STAMPS: Go-To Gift Card Holder: Backpack Accessories stamps INK: Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Hawaiian Shores, Limeade Ice, New Leaf, Weathervane, True Black, Harvest Gold, Summer Sunrise, Classic Kraft PAPER: Raspberry Fizz, Soft Stone, True Black, White; Metallic Silver DIES: Go-To Gift Card Holder: Backpack dies SUPPLIES Be sure to come back tomorrow for another day of reveals. We will be strictly into Halloween mode tomorrow. :-) ~Wanda
It's day 3 of the Papertrey Ink June release countdown! I'm sharing three projects using the new Soak Up the Fun stamp/die set and my last card features the new Baby Elephant stamp/die set. This is such a fun summer set; it includes three sentiments and all of the images you need to create a fun summer scene! I had a few flowers left over from yesterday's arch card so I added a few of those for some extra detail! I used the Watercolor Wonderful Stencil Collection for the background to enhance the 'splash' theme! I used both a green and brown marker to give the palm trees the two-toned look; the stamp is just solid so I wanted something more realistic. I added some Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the swim goggles. My second card for today is a shaker card; you can see the shaking bits better in the remainder of the photos, but I wanted to s how it how it looks just resting. I used some Bitty Big: Pale Peony paper as the backdrop for the shaking sequins for added detail. The new Fantastic Front: Scalloped Frame die is the perfect choice for a quick and easy shaker card! If you know me, you know I struggle with shaker cards, but this one was easy-peasy! I used a few more of the leftover flowers from my wreath card for this card as well. I used another one of the sentiments; the die set comes with dies for the sentiments so I added it over the top of the acetate using foam squares. My third card using the Soak Up the Fun set uses the previously released Through the Palms Hot Foil Plate. I created a quick blended panel using pinks/purple ink for a sunset type look. It used the highest heat setting and let it heat for 25 seconds and I got a nearly perfect result! I added the water portion and the floatie at the bottom of the scene and added few more details. You can really see the shine of the foiling in this photo! I added some glitter and sequins for even more sparkle and shine! I have zero baby boy cards on hand and I have a baby gift to deliver! I took a picture with the outfits I bought in the background; this photo shows the shorts and shirt outfit which I tried to match the card to. The outfits are jungle-themed so the new Baby Elephant set is perfect! You can see the cute sleeper in the background of this picture. I chose to use Honey Nut cardstock with Platinum foil using the Tropical Frond Hot Foil Plate for the background. I stamped the elements from the Baby Elephant set and then mounted it on an arch that was die cut using the new Love to Layer: Arch dies with the new Baby Clouds stencil. I did stamp pink on the ears because it just seemed like the right thing to do, but I hope it's not too girly! ha ha! Thanks for fltutering by!
It's the fourth and final day of the Papertrey Ink May release countdown! I'm so in love with this new Suited For Summer stamp/die set! It's so absolutely adorable and I had so much fun using it on three projects I’m sharing today! This card was inspired by some art pieces that I saw on Etsy and couldn't wait to translate the idea onto a card! These swimsuits are just SOOOO much fun and SOOO cute and vintage-y! We have been invited to a wedding this summer and I just HAD to make their wedding card using this fun sentiment! I used the same paper pad as my picnic card I shared the other day and a few leftover geraniums. This is also a larger card; the blue pattern panel is the size of an A2 size card for reference! Not only is there this darling stamp set, but there is also a Suited For Summer Stencil Collection! I used it for the background! I ended up covering up the cutest bathing suit on the stenciled panel so I opted to just recreate the same suit for the focal piece! The foiled panel was done using the new Shoreline Finds Hot Foil Plate. My next card shows more of it, but for this card I liked the subtle gold detail. I also used the new Into the Blooms: Violets (also not purple) ha ha! to give the card some tropical vibes! You can see how awesome the Shoreline Finds Hot Foil Plate is on this card. I decided to create my own 'shoreline finds' by adding some Summer Shells and greenery! I heat embossed the sentiment on Berry Sorbet cardstock and added it to the bottom of the foiled panel. The Hello sentiment is die cut three times and glued together and is from the Pro Stamper's Box from March. My final card for today also features the new Suited For Summer stamp set. All of these darling bathing suits are so fun to use! I chose to create a fun poolside scene, using quite a few of the different bathing suit styles To begin, I used the pool water stencils that were released a few years ago. I added the postal frame over the top to create a vacation type feeling. Once that was done, I just had fun adding the different bathing suits using foam squares. I added some Nuvo crystal glaze to the sunglasses for some realistic shine. And, I can’t seem to get enough of the shimmer spray for this release, so I added it over the top of the pool water panel. Thanks for fluttering by!

If you are needing some Halloween Inspiration, you are in the right place. Papertrey Ink has lots to share today with Day 2 of DT Group Posts. First off, new additions to the Tiny Town House. This one is called Tiny Town: Spookyville. I turned this little house into a tea light holder. The bottom is cut out so the house can sit over a tea light. I cut the house out of black card stock and then cut all the accessories out of white cardstock. I used Purple and Orange Copic markers to colors all the parts. The Copics gave the roof a more weathered look, the shutters are more uneven it just adds to the "creepy". :) I lined all the windows with vellum so the house really glows. I tried multiple times to get a good shot of the glow from the tea light but the pictures didn't turn out. This little house will make the perfect addition to my dining room tray for Halloween. This next card uses the dies from the Shaped Sayings: Halloween. I added the dies to a Smokey Shadow card base that I embossed with the Lined Impression plate. I also added in some Fresh snow ink for the fog behind the moon. I heat embossed the sentiment from Pumpkin Expressions to finish off the card. This last project uses the Autumn Pumpkins and Pumpkin Expressions. I used the Tasting Tag Die to create this little treat holder. I added in the tree die from the Tiny Town: Spooky Yard Dies in the background and then the pumpkin from Autumn Pumpkin. The new set called Pumpkin Expression can turn these adorable pumpkins into jack-o-lanterns. This set also includes some cute halloween sayings. I added in some ribbon and twine and then tied this super sized Smarties pack onto the tag. Quick and easy for a fun Halloween Treat. Head over to Nichole's blog to see the list of stops to make today. Lots of Halloween Inspiration to see! Thanks so much for stopping in! Laurie SaveSave
