Back in 2012 a cute little lion called Blossom visited my blog & he's been a fave & very popular little guy with blog visitors since. So of course I had to recreate him when I was in the middle of my curvy Keepsake box character obsession (back in October-November). I kept meaning to share the boxes but something else kept getting in the way. That is, until this week when (to my horror) I remembered that Blossom's punch namesake is on our list of retiring products. Noooo! Thankfully, the fabulous Curvy Keepsake box die will be carrying over to our new Annual Catalogue so definite sigh of relief from me about that :-) Anyway, I'm sure you want to see Blossom's updated look so here he is: You can see his cute little face & blossom punch mane & paws better in this pic. I sponged all the main punched pieces with crumb cake ink to add some extra depth. Can you work out which punches make Blossom? Well, you don't have to as I've here's a pic of my chart showing all the punches/shapes & there are links to all items below (click on the pic to see a bigger view). As of today, the blossom punch is still available to purchase, but will be gone for good on June 2nd...if it doesn't sell out before. Today I have another sneak peek for you. This Mini Curvy Keepsake Box is my first Christmas share from the upcoming Holiday mini. It is just sooooo stinkin' cute!!! I love the size and also the Holly and Berry stamp is beautiful. It is from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set. A beautiful new set, I will have more to share with that later, it amazing! I stamped the Holly image with Stack Stazon and colored with my Aqua Painter and ink pads. I fussy cut it out and put aside to make my box. I die cut the box using a piece of DSP from the Let it Snow pack. I also die cut two ovals from the Mini Curvy Keepsakes Dies set, one for my sentiment and one for the Holly leaves. The "Joy" came from the "Hearts Come Home" stamp set from last year, that is no longer available. I layered the two die cut ovals together and ran two pieces of white twine through the holes to attach them to the box. I ran the twine through the handles of the box and tied a pretty bow. I then used dimensionals to add the Holly image to the oval. I used my Wink of Stella pen all over the Holly and Berry image. It adds a really pretty shimmer. Ever since I got the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits, I've been wanting to make it into a Curling Stone. Well, I finally did it! The box is perfectly sized for two yummy chocolates. The stamps are from, you guessed it, the wonderful new Occasions Catalog (p. 31). The Crazy about You set is going to be a versatile group of stamps. I have to confess that when I initially saw the Curvy Keepsake Box Die I was unimpressed. How often, I asked myself, would I honestly use that? I've come to eat my words. My goodness, what a lot of fun it is, to use that framelit! The sky is the limit. There is nothing you can't create with this little tool, until your imagination runs dry. Well---when that happens, there is always Pinterest, right? The theme of our Watercooler Challenge this week is to CASE Pinterest. The acronym, CASE, stands for "copy and share everything". Pinterest is the treasure box of shared projects. I had decided to find something on the site that gave me a new idea for the Curvy Keepsake Box Die. Hours later, there were still some projects I hadn't seen but my crossing eyes and numb fingers suggested that, perhaps, I had done enough searching. My CASE from Pinterest is an adorable little turkey which was created by the very talented Darla Watson who posted her version on her blog on August 31st. Subsequently she posted the darling turkey on Pinterest. And that's where I found it. For my version of the turkey, I've used Baked Brown Sugar cardstock for the Curvy Keepsake Box. This will be the body of the turkey. I'll also be gluing the head and the tail to this box. Once I cut the pieces with the die, I stamped them with Baked Brown Sugar ink using the flower from the Blooming With Kindness stamp set. I thought it would be nice to have a bit of texture to suggest feathers. For the head, I took my 1 1/4" Circle Punch and cut a circle from a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. For the beak, I used my Pennant Builder Punch to cut a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock (cut to the appropriate length with my snips). After cutting two white circles using my Owl Builder Punch, I added Black Candy Dots for the pupils. For the wattle, I did what Darla had done and used the little Heart Punch, cut it in half, and glued it back together, but longer. Luckily Stampin' Up! added two feather Framelits this year and they were awesome for cutting out cardstock for the tail feathers. I cut some from Cajun Craze, Baked Brown Sugar, and Soft Suede with the small feather framelit and then more from the same colours using the large feather framelit. In all I made a total of 20 feathers for the tail. Before putting the tail together, I used my scoring tool to add feather detail to the die-cuts. All those score lines also made the feathers curve slightly which was a bonus because I wanted the tail to be a bit curved. Once the turkey was completely assembled, I used the small oak leaf framelit from the Fun Fall Framelits dies to cut out a piece of Cajun Craze. The part that was a leaf, I scored and then scrunched to give it texture while the negative portion, I cut around to have a leaf outline. The sentiment is from the Making Spirits Bright stamp set. Our favorite way to embellish them is by cutting the pieces in half on the top so you can open it with out having to take all the cute stuff off. The clips worked great for this. If we put all the ribbon and on the clip it was easy to put back on after you open it. See how we cut our pieces in half. To use 2 different sides, fold your paper like the picture shows. Gwen's Craftin and Stampin Gwen Maghdour Independent Stampin'Up Demonstrator Welcome to my Blog! Love this project made with the curvy keepsake thinlits dies, and I think the thought of having a tooth fairy box is a cute idea. This has been made using Pink Pirouette cardstock but alternatively could be made using soft sky. The thinlit die was cut twice and the image of the fairy was heat embossed with silver embossing powder on two of the sides. The two sections were then glued together with multi purpose liquid glue to form the curvy keepsake box. The two largest butterflies on top of the box were cut in half and positioned either side of the opening, these were made using the Butterflies thinlit dies, pink pirouette and very vanilla cardstock used. The smaller butterflies were all stamped using papillon potpourri stamp set and heat embossed with silver embossing powder, elegant butterfly punch and bitty butterfly punch were used to cut out the butterflies, The smaller ones were attached to the fairy wings to give a 3D effect and the larger elegant butterfly was cut in half and attached either side of the opening on top of the box. I think this is a gorgeous little keepsake box and well worth trying for yourself. All the products used are in the list below, if you click on any of the images this will take you to my online shop. When I first spotted the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Die, I immediately thought it was a Christmas Bulb. Then I found out it was a box and was really surprised and of course love it as an adorable tool we have in our line up of great products. On SplitcoastStampers there is a video tutorial for making today's project. Since I don't yet do videos, I've made a pictorial tutorial (say that three times fast!) for you to see. I've changed up some of the measurements because it just made more sense to me and I changed up the way to make the bottom of the bulb since the punch that was used on Splitcoast is retired for Stampin' Up. Begin with a piece of cardstock 11" x 3 1/2". Place the Curvy Keepsake Die as shown below. This way you can make two full bulbs with a whole sheet of 11" x 7" sheet of cardstock. Here is how the two cuts will fit on your 1/2 sheet of paper: Trim off the portion that overlaps. So that it looks like this: Score 1 1/4" from the bottom of the bulb. The dotted line will be where you will score across. Fold on the score line, add Liquid Tombo Glue or Tear and Tape and place the two pieces together. Be SURE the bulbs line up straight. The bottoms you are attaching together will not be straight so you want to be sure your final product lines up properly. Make the base: If you have the retired Square Scallop Punch, you can use that by cutting a piece of Gold or Silver Foil paper 2 1/2" x 1 1/4" and slide the small strip into the punch and punch off just a small bit off of each end.) Since that punch is retired, I found a way to make three bases fairly easily. To make three bases of the bulb use the Scallop Square from the Squares Collection Framelits. Begin with a piece of Gold or Silver Foil Paper 12" x 2 3/4". Place the Scallop Square at the edge of the paper on two sides. Run it through the Big Shot. You will be able to cut another piece left from the remainder of the 12 inch piece. Turn the foil paper around and line the side scallops up carefully with the framelit scallops. Be sure to have a visible strip of paper along the bottom so that you get a clean scallop. Line the scallops up on your Simply Scored tool (this is why it was necessary to make sure your scallops lined up when cutting them) and score from one end to the other. Place the scalloped piece onto your trimmer and slice off the very end so you have a clean edge. Cut the remainder of the pieces into 1 1/4" sections. You will have a small piece left at the other end. Place Tombo Liquid Glue or Tear and Tape as shown below and place the gold base on each side. Decorate with tags - also from the Curvy Keepsake Box set of dies. Inside you can adhere your favorite treat. Maybe a nice Ghirardelli chocolate square or two or three! Use your white gel-pen to make a reflection on the side of the bulb. If you have any questions about these instructions, please let me know. I will be happy to answer any questions.
