Here is the challenge from Papertrey for this week's Make it Monday #99- Repeats and Rainbows. I chose to make a card using the #6 color scheme. I've had the set Modern Basics since it was released and I am ashamed to admit that this was my first time using the set. I need to keep the set on my desk and play with it a bit more this week.

Here's a short post with a birthday card that I made for my rocking son-in-law(he loves all things music) using a My Favorite Things die set, Rock and Roll... I tried to make the guitar as close to the "real thing" that I could. I made this card die cutting the star AND guitar with shimmery paper from Papertrey Ink. I then die cut the guitar again with wood veneer paper, twice. The neck of the guitar I used some distress ink and made the wood paper darker, the top I left natural. I then die cut the middle part of the guitar with white cardstock and in silver shimmer and wood paper, and filled in the holes on the white piece with the silver dots and wood rectangle... Wanted to make strings, but couldn't think of anything small or thin enough?! The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink and I thought went perfectly with the star and guitar. The inside simply reads "happy Birthday". Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa InLinkz.com
Play Here Welcome to the Papertrey Ink Blog Hop I am always amazed at the beautiful cards on these hops. My Papertrey Ink order came yesterday and I had a few minutes to make this card before the sun went down. ( needed to photograph) I was reminded of partial die cutting after seeing Jennifer McGuire’s video. I know there has been a few Make it Mondays with partial die cutting as well. I made a few mistakes, but no time to remake yesterday. I will be making lots of these! Oh my gosh the Tulips are amazing, can’t wait to spend some time in the craft room and really play with them. Thank you for the visit today! Tulip Time Stamp Set Papertrey Ink - Tulip Time Die Papertrey Ink : Hibiscus Burst, Lovely Lady Simply Chartreuse and Ripe Avocado Memento : Angel Pink
Today is release day, in which the Papertrey Ink team posts all of their creations with the new products that are up for sale today (the 15th of each month)! Let's get started! The first card is made with the new Flipping Out stamp set and little Flipping Out die! Are these not "flippin" adorable! You can die cut the flip flops and add little flowers and hearts to embellish them. Oh, so cute. On the close-up, you can see I added some dimension to the tops of the flip flops by popping them up with dimensional adhesive. I used a border die as the "sand" and stuck the flip flops in the sand! This one is a quickly stamped card. These would both be great for a teacher to wish them a happy summer vacation! I stamped the flip flops as if they were walking. The "happy summer" is stamped with Classic Kraft ink, and I thought Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz and Harvest Gold were summery colors to go with the theme! Flip Flop cards: STAMPS: Flipping Out INK: Harvest Gold, Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, True Black, Classic Kraft PAPER: Raspberry Fizz cardstock, Aqua Mist cardstock, white, Hawaiian Shores cardstock, Aqua Mist patterned paper, Summer Sunrise patterned paper DIES: Flipping Out, Edgers #4 (scallop) OTHER: Embroidery Floss, pearls. ---------------- Next, I used the Chevron Die and Think Big Favorites # 16 stamps. There are two different ways I came up with to use the chevrons! 1. You can cut the large one from cardstock and layer it with the smaller chevron cut from patterned paper for a neat look like this: 2. You can also off-set the top chevron layer just slightly (the smaller one) like I did here to create an argyle look! Many fun things to be made with the chevron dies! I can't wait to play more with these. Really addicted to chevron these days. Chevron cards: STAMPS: Think Big Favorites #16 INK: Dark Chocolate PAPER: white, Canyon Clay, Aqua Mist and Kraft cardstock, Summer Sunrise patterned paper, Classic Kraft patterned paper, Aqua Mist patterned paper DIES: Chevron Stripe Borders OTHER: pearls, corner rounder. ---------------- This card uses the new Fillable Frames Sentiments. I went crazy with stars here and stitched them down with my machine. The patterned papers I used here are Aqua Mist, new Fine Linen and new Summer Sunrise patterned paper. Celebrate Good Times card: STAMPS: Fillable Frames Sentiments INK: Dark Chocolate PAPER: Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise, Fine Linen patterned papers, Classic Kraft cardstock, Aqua Mist cardstock DIES: none OTHER: Fiskars star punch ---------------- This card is made with the Framed Out #4 stamp set. I cut two of the frames with the Framed Out #4 die from the Autumn Abundance patterned paper and stamped some of the frames with Simply Chartreuse ink. With Gratitude card: STAMPS: Framed Out #4 INK: True Black, Melon Berry, Simply Chartreuse PAPER: Autumn Abundance Patterned Paper, Fine Linen Patterned Paper (tan heart and stripe background), white cardstock DIES: Framed Out #4 OTHER: Snow Day die cuts (orange heart) by Pink Paislee, pearls, seam binding. ---------------- This card is made with the new Happy Hydrangeas stamp set and dies. I cut out the hydrangea and saved the negative cut out (white cardstock piece), then stamped the die cut piece with new Winter Wisteria ink and Simply Chartreuse for the stem. I layered the die cut over the negative and popped it up with dimensional adhesive! Love this look! For a soft background, I chose the Background Basics: Medallion circles and stamped them with new Soft Stone ink. The gray and purples are really pretty together. Happy Mother's Day card: STAMPS: Happy Hydrangeas INK: Winter Wisteria, Soft Stone, True Black, Simply Chartreuse PAPER: Winter Wisteria, white cardstock DIES: Happy Hydrangeas die, Simple Circles die (top border) OTHER: pearl. ---------------- Last a fun card with the Heart-2-Heart #4 stamp set. I die cut the phone with the Heart-2-Heart #4 die and used the sentiments and heart from the set also. I wanted to try a tone-on-tone look. (No pun intended!) I made a little cord from twine and added the hearts to kind of gave the look of the phone ringing! Hello Sweet Friend card: STAMPS: Heart-2-Heart #4 INK: Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, Harvest Gold, True Black PAPER: Aqua Mist Patterned paper, Aqua Mist cardstock, Harvest Gold cardstock DIES: Heart-2-Heart #4, Limitless Layers 3.5" Oval OTHER: pearl, twine. ---------------- All of these fun products are available today at Papertrey Ink on the main web page. Hello all! Can you believe another month has gone by? Here we are with another Papertrey Ink release and today's group post is so much fun! We are introducing the new Pedal Pusher stamp set and coordinating dies. It is...
Pin It Hello!! It's almost Friday!! Can't believe how FAST this week has flown by!! I was looking at the calendar today and my 6 yr. old only has four more weeks of school left and he has made it through his Kindergarten Year!! So SAD that it has gone by so FAST, but SO PROUD of him for all he has accomplished and learned this year!! Can't believe he will be a First Grader already!! Anyway, today I was able to play along with the FUN Monthly Blog Hop over on The Paper Trey Ink Blog!! This month the challenge was to Create something with a Tilted Design!! Just look at all of these EXAMPLES!! =) I just got my NEW Products from the April Release in the mail at 2:00pm this afternoon and I knew I wanted to use the Seventh Inning Stretch Stamp Set and matching Dies!! I also wanted to use the New Stars Dies!! I just LOVE stars and these babies are so mini and sweet!! =) I was inspired by some of the cards that were created by the Design Team during the release that were created for girls using this stamp set and with my niece just tried out for her first traveling softball team and made it, so I wanted to make this for her!! I used some mini text paper from the Simple Stories Vintage Bliss 6X6 paper pad and cut it at an angle to match the card base!! I then die cut three balls, one glove and two bats!! I created my main design on the tilt and then used some of the PTI Felt and die cut the star buttons border only I decided to keep the button holes in because I didn't like them as buttons for this card!! Just another way you can use this die!! LOVE when you can use them for different uses!! I stamped two of the sentiments from the set in Kraft Ink and I LOVE the subtle look!! I wanted to give alittle life to the die cuts so I bent the glove to make it look like a real glove with a ball in it!! I rounded the edges of the balls and the bats in the same way and added alittle bit of 3-D foam squares for added depth!! I inked around the edges of everything and I LOVE the way it turned out!! Here are some pictures of my finished card!! THANKS for stopping by and I hope you'll go and check out all of the AMAZING INSPIRATION over on the Paper Trey Ink Blog!! Have a FABULOUS WEEKEND!! =) COUNTRY HUGS-N-KISSES LARISSA =)
Today's CPS 149 sketch card was super fun! I chose a PaperTrey Ink set, Blooming Button Bits, as well as some Cosmo Cricket Early Bird papers, Cherry Pie and Farmer's Market. I inked the leaves in Versamagic Tea Leaves chalk ink and aged the edges with PaperTrey Ink's Chamomile distress ink. The sentiment is stamped in PTI's Pure Poppy ink. Cardstock is Vintage Cream and Pure Poppy. I used my Copic Airbrush System and a BG23 marker to add just a hint of blue behind the flowers to tie in with the background papers. Finished card size is 5-1/4" sqaure, size to fit PaperTrey's large square envelopes. Buttons are Aqua Mist and Pure Poppy Vintage Buttons. We would love to have you play along with this week's Card Positioning Systems sketch! Thanks for visiting.

Happy Mother's Day to all...hope you are having a wonderful day, whatever you are doing with this wonderful day:)!! Just wanted to post a card really quick...in between my Carraba's meal and going to my favorite soft serve ice cream stand:):):)!!!...made this card for Clean and Simple Stamping sketch challenge 189...although I didn't make a border around it... Used a couple dies from Memory Box(Woodland Branch and Cherry Blossom), Papertrey Ink Woodgrain Impression plate and a sentiment from Hero Arts. Papers are Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose and Michael's kraft, Bazzill white, too. I tried and tried a number of things in the center of the blossom(liquid pearls, stick on pearls, rhinestones...lots of things) but nothing looked right. I opted for some baker's twine that I threaded and put through the entire flower a couple times leaving both sets of pass throughs doubled and cut and frayed. Liked it much better:)!! Ok...gotta go...it's been a wonderful day hanging with my children!! Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa
The Papertrey Ink May Countdown is about to come to an end and I'm here to share my final projects with you today. But, before I do, let me remind you that everything you've seen peeks of will be available for purchase through Papertrey Ink beginning 10 pm EST tonight. Now, let me get started!... First up, Flipping Out by Melissa Bickford. I began with a Soft Stone card base and panel then covered it with white die cut chevron stripes (using the Chevron Stripe Borders Die Collection) Then stamped a fun focal point using the flip flops and a sentiment. Finished the card off with a bow. Next, Heart-2-Heart #4 also by Melissa Bickford. I stamped a happy telephone pattern in a color combo of Sweet Blush, Aqua Mist and Orange Zest. Embellished the side of the card with a stripy impression (using the Simple Strips Impression Plate) and an Orange Zest button. Last but not least, Framed Out #4 by Heather Nichols. I combined it with Happy Hydrangea. Then die cut and stamped the sentiment frame, colored the outer edge, punched tiny holes on either side and then tied it to the card using 1/8" silk ribbon. Well, that's all of them! Be sure to check out the rest of the Design Teams fabulous projects as well... And we're back around to Friday. Whoosh! Nichole Heady's {capture the moment} January PTI blog hop challenge for today is to use PTI true black (or smokey shadow) as a background or card base. I chose to make a card using true black card stock while wearing smokey shadow on my eyes. I think that counts double. To make my black background card, I used sketch #47 at Retrosketches, which is is based on a card designed by the sensational card artist, Jen Mitchell. My take on the challenge, using PTI's Harvest Berries stamp: The sentiment looks like it might also be from PTI, but I'm not sure. As so often happens, I chose my image and my sentiment chooses me. Sometimes it's the other way around. Does that happen to you? In this case, I ended up loving how the berry stem appears to flow right through the "r" in "here." I think you can see in the picture that I embossed the sentiment onto the card base, then embossed the berries on a separate sheet of card stock, cut it and trimmed it to line up above and below the sentiment (an introverted band) to reflect the sketch. I don't make a lot of black cards, but I love the true black with the white embossing powder, so I'll be creating with this idea again. Black does seem to be trending in cards. That may or may not be true, I just always wanted to write a sentence like that. What IS true is that there are a lot of cards being made with the "blackboard" technique, which makes your card front really look like a blackboard! Well it might make YOUR card look that way. I tried the technique, but I discovered it just wasn't for me. What happened was, I kept getting carried away 'erasing' and before I knew it, I had removed my entire focus pocus. Wouldn't it be funny if I submitted a card like that to a challenge with the front of it looking simply like an erased blackboard? Like the janitor came in and erased my picture when I stepped out to go to the bathroom? ~~~ I'm so delighted to have you all meet our latest new friend! Her name is Viv and her blog is Daizy-Mae's Crafty Blog! Viv is talented in card and jewelry making and like a lot of us, enjoys "all things crafty!"
