Coffee To Go! - Showing you how to make miniature coffee cups, lids, croissants, cupcakes, and muffins using polymer clay, Cardstock paper, and Shrinky Dink (or clear shrink plastic). Below are the templates: CLEAR CUPS: To make the clear cups I used Shrinky Dink, which is plastic that shrinks when heated. It comes in clear sheets (like see through paper), and you can find it at hobby stores. I just searched for shrink plastic in my area and found some at hobby lobby. Do your research first! Its important to use Cardstock paper for the cups, but printer paper is fine for the bags. Each template was designed by myself in Photoshop, and are posted here for everyone to use, so enjoy!

Thought I'd try my hand at making some tangled earrings today. I went a little bonkers at the local craft store and bought several paper punches in different sizes and shapes (they were 40% off... it was like they KNEW), a few different kinds of blank shrinky-dink sheets, and assorted beading supplies. This is one of four different styles I came up with. These were made with the clear sheets/rough finish. I'm going to experiment with colored pencils and opaque white sheets next. As much as I like these, I think they'll be more appealing when I throw in a little color. Also, there will be a bracelet attempt tomorrow. That should be interesting! Here are a few of my first attempts, though I ended up adding small black glass beads to the jump rings at the top to spruce them up a little. I like these because they're more 'tangled', unlike the ones I posted above with just one pattern per piece. I think I'll try drawing the string on a separate sheet of paper next time and tape the translucent earring material to the paper until I'm finished tangling it. The pencil string is so dark it looks like ink... remember everything's darker after you shrink it!

I started making paper earrings in college for extra money. I was seriously into the mixed print Memphis style and I always had colorful painted paper scraps left over from my fashion presentations. Mind you, this was before computers when you had to cut with scissors, paste with actual glue and use rub-on letters instead of picking a font from hundreds on the internet and printing them out from a home computer! It's soooo much easier now, but I digress. This paper mache project is a great way to create something that's sturdy enough for jewelry and light enough to keep your lobes in tact! Plus, you can paint them any way you want. Heck, use images, too! I used my Gel Press for the funky patterns which lent to the unpredictable nature of each earring. Go nuts with recycled materials, my crafty friends, and always Make Your Mark! Perfect for putting in an envelope and sending to a friend!
