30 paintings in 30 days was an artistic challenge to complete 30 pieces in 30 days. I made mini paintings, 4X4 inch acrylic magnetic canvas boards. please note only 9 magnets are listed here (to be able to provide single images), however most in the first image are available so if one of those catches your eye, I encourage you to send me a message. Anout each piece: 1) Pollinator. This was my 7th painting completed during the challenge and is one of my personal favourites. it featuring a bee doing its thing in some flowers, based on one I observed in my own yard in Saskatchewan. 2) 7/11. it’s everyone’s favourite convenience store just as the sun goes down. This is based specifically on the one in North Battlefird, SK. I must have been thinking about slurpees this day, it was my 24th in the series. 3) Sundog. this was my 29th painting in the challenge. This painting was referenced from a photo I took outside of Saskatoon, SK on Highway 40. 4) Orca. this is Doublestuf (J34), an orca from the endangered Southern Residents which live off the coast of Washington and British Columbia. he’s the first wild orca I saw, back in 2014 and unfortunately since passed away. This painting was inspired by that first encounter, and was my 7th out of the 30 completed. 5) Into the Storm: Saskatchewan has some moody skies. This piece is based on a photo I took as a passenger driving down highway 40 West, near Atton’s Lake. this was my 5th painting completed out of the 30 6) Dreamscape: this was my 15th piece finished, and this was about the point I felt less excited about the project. to reignite that excitement, I took a more playful approach and painted with more imaginative colours. this is based on a landscape in rural Saskatchewan, where I walk my dog. I love to listen to music and daydream when I’m out with my dog, and tried to capture that daydream energy with a whimsical colour palette! 7) Fiery Sunset: Saskatchewan is known as the land of the living skies for a reason. I based this piece off of a photo I took of one particularly orange sunset I saw out in rural SK. It was my 25th piece completed for the challenge. 8) North Saskatchewan Sunset. This painting stands out in the series with its bright orange palette. it was painted from a photo I took from the shore of the North Saskatchewan River, off of the North side of the Borden Bridge. this was the 28th painting completed in the series. 9) the Big Sky: this was one of the first paintings completed in the challenge, and remained one of my favourite after the challenge was complete. It features big fluffy clouds with a prairie landscape. this was my 4th painting completed during the challenge. These paintings would add a lovely pop of colour, and can be casually displayed on a fridge or file cabinet, or framed as pieces of fine art. please note these magnets are able to hold a paper or two, they are not designed to hold significant weight. 30 Paintings in 30 Days were lovingly made by me, Aleksi Ann in my studio in beautiful North Battleford, Saskatchewan, Canada and were completed between August 17 and September 14 2023- all are acrylic on 4X4inch magnetic canvas board.
