Black Cat is a print from an original oil painting by Andrew Shows. His paintings are inspired by Southwest history, and the resulting prints project high, vibratory colors that allow the images an up-to-date contemporary appeal. This is a typical scene in Taos or Santa Fe, New Mexico. The church and mountains are silhouetted in the moonlight as a black cat runs down the street. There's always a void between faith and superstition. SIZE is 11" X 14" with matte, and the image is about 8" X 10." Each print is signed by the artist and packaged in a clear, protective sleeve. Shipping is first class mail through the Post Office.

Image Description:The good shepherd leaves the flock to look for the one lost sheep.About the Artist:JORGE COCCO SANTANGELO is a prolific artist born in Argentina. He also lived in Europe and Mexico for many years and now resides in the US. His award-winning paintings and sculptures have been exhibited and acquired around the world by museums, churches, governments and important private collectors. Cocco calls his new style of painting "sacrocubism" because of the sacred subject matter he paints and because he uses some elements of the art movement known as "cubism". Cocco's style appeals to the spiritual intellect by synthesizing objects to simple, geometric shapes allowing the observers to center their attention on the essential and most holy. Rather than painting with a photographic or journalistic mind, this abstraction allows Cocco to better express emotions, feelings, and the transcendence of the events depicted. My husband and I just finished another trip to New Mexico, this time focusing on the High Road to Taos route. It is filled with historic small Mission Churches. Each one is special in its own way. This adobe church is called "San Lorenzo de Picuris" and it is the center of the Picuris Pueblo. It is an active Catholic Church and serves the Tiwa Indians that have lived in the pueblo for centuries. San Lorenzo has a grand presence and is much larger than can be seen from the front. Small adobe homes dot the hills around it , all set a quiet distance from the road. ... I took photos and couldn't wait to get back home to paint it!! I used my palette knives to apply the oil paints to cotton canvas and painted the side edges as well, and has hardware on the back for easy wall mounting.
