Step into the 19th-century splendor with our exquisite French 'Terre de Fer' dinner plates (ironstone) by Gien. Crafted with meticulous detail, these plates 'Boules de Neige" evoke timeless beauty. Ironstone tableware emerged in France around 1770, made from natural clay, sand, and minerals. Unlike porcelain, ironstone is not translucent and can have a rough or smooth surface. The term peaked around 1900 with manufacturers like Faïenceries du Moulin des Loups, Saint-Amand, Lunéville, and others, producing sets stamped with 'Terre de fer' for authenticity. Use: Ironstone dinnerware is generally dishwasher safe, but a delicate cycle is recommended. Avoid abrasive cleaners to maintain their surface. While durable, handle with care to prevent breakage. Condition: Our products are generally in good rustic and vintage condition, but may exhibit minor flaws due to their age. Feel free to request additional photos or a video for a closer examination.
This is a set of 6 antique Minton England Dinner plates (10 3/4 diameter). Minton China had a cypher in order to determine which year the dinnerware was made. Based on the triangle cypher in the back, the plates were made in 1843. Minton was independent from 1793 to 1968. It was acquired by Royal Doulton and then finally by Waterford Wedgwood in 2005. The pattern itself is gorgeous. The flowers and pattern were hand painted. The plates are in fantastic vintage condition, with minimal wear to the paint around the rim and the pattern itself. Even so, as an item that is approximately 179 years old, wear from its age and usage is normal and expected. This is truly an excellent piece for any collector of vintage dinnerware, or even as a gift to someone who would love them. less
